Eclipse CD1200g
It's great! It's able to play a regular music cd, an mp3 cd, or mp3's from a usb drive. The best thing is the Auxilary line in on the front, you can play any music from your portable device. I use Pandora on my blackberry and play it via the line in on the stereo, it's pissa! Also, the unit only cost 109 when I bought it. Sounds great on my factory speakers (Subaru WRX). I don't think you can get a double-size stereo at this price that is any better. Unless you're an audiophile, you should buy this one.

Great price quality product
This deck was used in a 2002 Chevy Silverado, fit nice and works perfect. Nice features for the price and have not had any problems since install. Can't go wrong for a nice full featured double din stock replacement at this price.

So...so....
Good quality as always from eclipse. Very basic tho. Main complaints are not major but just annoying. One is the clock is not the main display and button has to be pressed to view temporarily. Second is cannot easily select song from playlist on iphone while it is plugged in, haved to unplug it to navigate ipod. And last complaint is having to pay 100 dollars for wiring adapters to install in newer chevy work van. Overall i think it is a reliable unit though.

Good Radio
This is a good replacement radio. I installed it into my 01 superduty and it's been working great ever since. Only issue i had was the install. For my install i had to grind/shave the opening for the install kit and radio (two different areas) to fit. The radio fits inside the dash, but leaves no extra room, meaning it will slide in and out but has to be just right to get it in. Radio isn't as loud as i hoped but functions perfect. Still a great buy for the money.

It is no $500 stereo, but for the money, it's great!
I am a broadcast engineer, but not an audio geek. I wanted a stereo for my beater car that would be good enough to listen and check my radio stations. This works, and it gives me a sense of how my stations sound on an average radio. Seems reliable so far.

great product and value
This unit is especially nice if you want to keep a factory like look but want enhanced features and sound. The usb port is super convenient, as is the aux port for any media player.
It was nice getting the antenna adapter and wiring harness, but it didn't come with any hardware to actually mount the unit itself in. I had to rig something up, which doesnt look as nice as i would like.

Great features and function for an awesome price
I ordered this player from here and I received it a week ago. First of all I was really impressed by the shipping from Sonic, as they included the dash mounting kit and the harness for the make of my car with it. As a bonus they also provided the iPod interface cable. Installation of the player was really easy in the 2000 Civic. The player has great controls, you can browse the whole iPod through the interface cable. Sound controls are great and as this is not very flashy. It sits flush on the dash and doesn't make it feel like an aftermarket stereo with all the aftermarket stereo features. Anyone out there who wants an aftermarket stereo without all the stupid flashy lights on them, this is best match for them.

Still works after 6 months...
This head unit has quite a few features, but is a bit cumbersome in use. The unit also came with no instructions on how to use the features, so it was a learning experience... Display is very bland, but it sounds pretty good and it works. It's an OK, inexpensive double-din radio/CD/iPod replacement unit.

Great basic Double-Din unit!
Installed this in my 2000 VW Golf to replace the factory tape player. I didn't want anything too flashy, and something that preferably matched the interior lighting. This head unit does a great job of that. Installation was a snap with the Scosche wiring kit, antenna adapter, and Metra VW Double-Din adapter. The unit looks OEM when installed, and the lights when set to Red match the interior just fine. No problems connecting it to the factory Monsoon amp since my car has the earlier version of it (2002.5+ VWs with Monsoon may have issues).
Sound quality is good, though the mids do seem a little bit lacking. iPod support is fantastic, and I found navigating through the various menus to be relatively easy.
It also must be noted how fast switching between inputs is. iPod, USB, and Radio modes are all very quick to switch to. CDs are fast too - just the time required to spin the disc up. All in all, very impressed with this low cost unit. If you need a replacement radio that doesn't look too flashy, yet has tons of features, I would definitely recommend it!

awesome aftermarket stereo ever
This is the best aftermarket stereo i ever owned. This stereo reminds me of a stock radio just because the appearance and the fit. But the sound and performance is better than a stock radio. I would strongly recommend this.

good for the price
It's a nice unit, but the programming isn't so great. For some reason when you put the unit on random song to play files on a usb drive it will only shuffle if you let the song finish by it's self. if you try to scan and shuffle it just goes to the next song on the list. might as well just put a dang cd in.
Other than little issues like that it's a good unit.

great stereo with oem look
If you are looking for a simple, yet quality double din deck, then this is the one. Wish it had Bluetooth, but for the price, its hard to beat. What I really like is that the green lighting matches well with my 97 Buick, so it looks very oem! You can also change to red lighting. I have always liked the quality of Eclipse.

Great product
It looks to me like this was intended for a factory radio but couldn't be sold for some reason or another, but thats fine by me. This is a great radio and the options are spectacular for such a cheap unit. USB, Aux, a good EQ, plenty of power and RCA's out for add-ons. My only complaints might be variable bit rate MP3's seem to get scrambled and the button colors don't match the display but those are minor. Radio made in December of 2008 so its a few years old but great product.

Great Sound, Stock looks, some annoying details
Pros:
- Eclipse always does a great job delivering clean sound with no distortion, this headunit is one of the best sounding sub 200 dollar models out there.
- It doesn't look overly flashy, and the color changing LED backlighting is nice.
- Preamp outs are much stronger than most inexpensive headunits.
Cons:
- Some buttons don't have very good feel, and you have to push them the right way (specifically, the track skip buttons feel very cheap).
- I cannot, no matter what I do, get the damn clock to stay on the display. It always switches back the track time on the CD player or to tell me that I'm on AUX (I'm pretty sure I'm aware of that and don't need to be told all the time). Really? Annoying.
- It doesn't mount quite perfectly in my car, there's a slight discrepancy in the depth. I've never had this problem with other DIN standardized stereos. Not a big deal though, it's about 1/8" off.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. The Cons listed are very minor, it was a great deal, with no compromises on the really important things: sound quality and reliability. If you're looking for a less flashy alternative to most of the name brand stereos out there, this is a really good choice.

Good Bang-for-your-buck head unit...
I bought this head unit due in large part to of a lack of iPod connection in my OEM unit. The price was right and it looks like it could be a stock unit -detering it's theft factor.
Only complaints I have would be that the AM channels are not as clear as they were previously, lack of steering wheel controls and iPod connectivity. While it does get the job done, it is easier to find what you are looking for on the iPod, start the album/playlist/song and then plug it in.
Other than that, Eclipse makes a great unit and I've been happy with it.

Economical to buy, works great, nice features.
I installed this in my 1995 explorer, I had to modify the face plate trim (that was included free) to fit the unit but it went in okay. Everything is easy to use and it has worked perfectly for us. Sounds good, good tuner. You do have to press a button to see the clock. As an economical choice I recommend this unit. Be sure to check the fitment guide, it takes the whole space. It has either red or green backlighting. My rating is based on about 6 mo. of use. A lot of features for the price.

Good enough
I will recommend this product I was looking for a OEM looking and MP3 + iPod capabilities and it meets both.
Pros: OEM looking prevent to be stolen, iPod control, Mp3, two different dash colors.
Cons: Does not have a Scan button for radio stations, it does not include a manual, when you connect the iPod cable it takes total control of the ipod and you can not change the music from it. Change the music from stereo is not easy specially if you were driving.
It is prepared for a remote control that is not included and I did not find it in Sonix store.
And finally do not expect to much output power.

Great stereo
Cool stereo, have enjoyed it, love the iPod hookup and the USB. I like the on-stereo controls for the iPod, it does have some less than ideal ways of looking up songs. Say you want to listen to a artist that you have multiple albumns, it won't let you play all the albumn without listening to one first then go back into the menu system to find the other albumn (meanwhile, the whole menu system goes back to square one, and doesn't stay on that artist, so you start the process from the beginning) taking/keeping you eyes off the road. Great value, really enjoy this unit, none of these issues would deter me from purchasing again or recommending

This cd player is great
Well I think this is a great cd player for the price, some people say that the sound quality is not that great, however, I think its fine. I bought this player to replace my old system. I also bought 4 6x8 Hifonics Zeus ZXi 683 and a Hifonics HFi55.4 amp to power them, this is a great combo if you want to invest in your system. Also I baby my system with a great amp kit and capacitor.

Bought a older 2001 F250 to bring back up into shape. It had no radio in it and I wanted a nice clean looking double Din. This did the trick and fits just fine with a little filing. It has great sound and I can run my daughters iPod, my Droid or USB drive for my MP3 collection.
Getting ready to add a little bass behind the seat and it should be a nice little system for a few hundred bucks.

very nice unit. I love the factory look but with the advantages of an aftermarket radio. the RCA pre outs really helped with amp installation. Also my ride doesn't look like a system is installed so i don't have to worry as much about thieves. It also sounds way better than the factory deck did.
Also, thank you sonic for sending my accessories for installation with receiver when the online system said it wouldn't fit my car but it does. Great customer service.

Rockin' Ride value!
For the money this is a very great value! This is a good radio and media player but it does lack some of the factory radio perks such as; no speed volume control & cannot dim the lighted dial panel. Other than this the unit is very friendly. I like the way you can change the dial light colors, easily plays mp3 media with the 3.5mm jack and USB connection plug (note: you can only use max. 4GB USB memory sticks/drives), cd's and plenty of memory buttons for your radio station favs. This unit has plenty of power and I got the MTX 12 inch enclosed subwoofer from Sonic and that sounded so good I had to get new speakers to replace my four factory speakers! My 2007 Ford Focus is a 'Rockin' Ride' now!

You cant go wrong with this stereo for the price, reads mp3 CDs quick, usb devices quick, standard CDs quick and aux works fine when you figure out how to get it working. stereo sounds amazing with my set up, basiacally cheap stuff(140W pioneers in doors, 190w sony xplods in rear)with no sub but still puts out bass pretty good, sounds better than my brothers sony xplod stereo and does more to. If your looking for a non-fancy looking stereo that could almost be stock but has more function and power, this is the one for you

Sounds great for the price.
I replaced the OEM radio in my Ford F-250 Superduty with this DD Eclipse radio and I'm glad I did. It was delivered in just a few days and was packaged very well. The install was very straight forward with just a little trimming to get it to fit. The wiring harness was a snap to connect and the sound is fantastic, compared to the factory radio. I have had aftermarket speakers installed for quite a while and this radio really brings them alive. it is very easy to set up and program as well. I'm not a high tech redneck and for the price, this radio/cd/mp3/etc..... Double Din Radio really fits the bill. I would recommend this radio to anyone who wants a great sounding set up for not too many bones.

Sound quality leaves something to be desired...
I can't stand flashy head units which scream aftermarket, so this one fit the bill. It looked like it came with my car. Installation was a snap, thanks to the free kit provided by Sonic. At first I was totally in love with this thing; the interface was simple and intuitive and it had a ton of features. Unfortunately, the sound quality was miles below the factory Delco head unit it replaced. When I first heard it, it sounded like someone had replaced my sound system with a cheap boom-box. The bass was punchy and the mids were overblown. I think 'hollow' is the best word to describe the sound. I was able to tweak the EQ and get it to sound richer. But still, there's a lot to be desired in the bass department. I've since put my Delco back in. I REALLY wanted to like the Eclipse, it had everything I wanted. But I just can't get over the sound. Maybe I was expecting too much from a head unit this cheap. Oh well, lesson learned. Back to square one.

Very good product for a very nice price
First, the unit works flawlessly. Packing was good, shipping good, etc. Sound is clear and loud. Unit intelligently selects between sources, i.e., it won't give you the option of USB if you don't have a USB stick inserted. Took a minute to figure out how to turn the AUX IN on, you have to enable it in a menu. Fit and finish is nice. I bought this because the stock deck in my Ford Explorer did not have an AUX IN, so I got that and USB, which is very convenient. The wrong Scosche wiring harness adapter was included (for free) so I had to buy the right one. 10$ - Not a huge problem. I also had to buy metric screws in order to mount the side plates that came as part of the free Scosche install kit, again, not a huge deal. I would buy this head unit again without a doubt.
20 found this helpful
Intermittently shuts off every few minutes!
This radio does everything I need it to except staying powered on... The wiring has been checked and rechecked and there seems to be some kind of internal fault causing the unit to cycle power constantly. This head unit is effectively useless as a result of this.

A Great Receiver for Older GM Vehicles
I needed a replacement for my original Delco Radio in my wife's 1986 Chevrolet Celebrity Wagon. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a new direct replacement (this vehicle uses a non-standard size double-DIN). Most of the current models in single Din or 1-1/2 DIN have very modern faceplates with small controls, which do not match the original radio at all, and invite theft.
The Eclipse looks like it was OEM, was almost the same footprint as the Delco, and was available at a great price!
I had to do some cutting of the mounting area in the Dash, and install a plastic filler plate, but the install looks like it belongs with the vehicle!
The controls are very easy to use (after you review the manual) and the sound and reception is great.
The major quirk it has is that if you hook up the electrical connections per the manual, when you put the Key to the Run or Aux position, the Receiver comes on automatically; just press the MUTE Button to silence it.
I highly recommend this Receiver.

Installed in a 2003 Ford F150
I installed my unit into my '30 F150 SuperCrew. Overall, very happy with how the unit looks in the dash and the fact that it operates and looks a lot like a factory stereo. I also got the iPod cable, and if it were much longer, I could run it under the carpet to the back seat. I have most of it coiled up in the dash under the cupholder, with the end coming out under the cupholder using the factory opening. I can stuff the end of the cable in the dash very easily if I need to close the cupholder and pull it out easily if I need to put the cable elsewhere. My biggest complaint with the unit is that the display is blue, where the rest of the dash is green. I knew that before I ordered it, so it's something I will live with.
Mounting this unit was a PITA!!!! A previous owner had installed and removed a double din unit, so part of the dash trimming was already done. However, even after cutting the crossbrace as mentioned in the Metra dash kit, I wound up having to remove the radio cage from the dash and remove about 3/16" or so from the top of the opening to get the radio to sit right. Once I got the brackets on the side lined up just right, things seemed to fit pretty well. I did find one error in the Metra kit instructions. The faceplate bracket needs to be mounted after reinstalling the AC controls, not before. Aside from the error in the Metra instructions, the difficulty I had was Ford's fault for having a double din opening that isn't quite double din.
One other thing, although the manual doesn't mention it, I was able to use Pandora radio while connected to the iPod cable. I have the iPhone 4. I was able to control Pandora from both the phone and the unit. I did start Pandora before connecting.
Overall, I'm very pleased. The dash was a little more complicated than I thought, but I was taking my time (and working with my 12 y/o son) to make sure I didn't mess anything up. Sadly, this unit will probably have to stay with the truck, since the factory unit was dead, and the bracket was so modified that it would take the factory radio back anyway.

Nice stereo
This is a great stereo for someone who wants a "stock stereo" look with more features than a stock stereo would have. My stereo didn't come with a manual for the controls but there are a few youtube video reviews I was able to find that gave a walk through on all the different functions and things you can do with it. The only thing I wish it had was the ability to change the LED color of the display, since it just stays blue when you change the color of the buttons to either green or red. Its not a big deal though. Overall, I'd say this stereo does what I expected and for a pretty reasonable price.

Good stock replacement
Great replacement for my old 94 Toyota stock unit and plays MP3's.
Couple things to note for potential buyers, it will not display clock unless you press a button, which will display it a few seconds before going back to music info.
Second, you can't skip to the next folder on your MP3, CD or USB, so there is no point in organizing your music files into folders. Only thing you can do is skip by 10 files. It does have a file search feature, but it's a hassle while driving. Everything else is great.
Can't really comment on reliability, we'll see. You will be pressing buttons a lot to look for specific music. Hopefully this will hold up. It seems durable though.

Double Din Receiver
You can't beat this radio for the price. It installs nicely in a GM dash with very little trimming. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to use it either as the functions are easy to understand. It's loaded with features, sounds good, and has good FM reception for distant stations. The only negative is minor in that the function key lighting can be changed from green to red, but the main display is blue and can not be changed.

Best bang for the buck
I got this radio for my '00 Mazda B2500 pickup. This fits in nice in the dash but you will need some extra mounting to do and cut the inner lip of the dash back so the radio fit (a thick band of tape made it snug). Good quality audio, ran output to a 4 channel infinity amp driving components on front and coaxes in the back. I recommend this to anyone who wants a simple radio. Good audio and big buttons, nice when driving a 5-speed. Well lit and good display, can see it perfectly in bright sun, a tad bright at night though.

Fantastic headunit for the non audiophile!
Picked up the Eclipse CD1200G for my wife's 05 Hyundai Sonata to replace the dated factory headunit which lacked mp3 support. She's very practical and wanted something basic with mp3 support. Got it installed and let me tell you, this headunit surprised me. The sound quality is excellent for a budget stereo, a BIG improvement over the stock one. It drove the factory speakers very well with no distortion. I can easily hear subtle details in music that were all but washed out on the factory stereo. Even more so after tweaking the EQ and sound settings. Esthetically it flows well with the interior and if you did not know any better, you would presume it came factory equipped. There is the presence of a very slight white noise hiss at higher volume (can only sense it when no music is being played), but in all probability a better ground (used factory harness ground point) and or upgraded speakers & wire would eliminate it. It's not a big deal, but I felt it was worth mentioning. I have a completely aftermarket mid level car audio system in my garage queen that I laid out over $1000 in total for. Obviously the Eclipse CD1200G driving factory speakers is no match for it, but for 1/10 the price it produces surprisingly good sound. Better than it's price would suggest. Overall, for the price I highly recommend it and will be picking up another one for my daily driver.

This is an excellent car radio for the price. Nowhere can you find a deal like this in Canada. The only thing I don't like about it is that you have to press the display button to view the time every time you're listening to the radio/mp3. Other than that, the sound quality is great. The transaction and delivery itself was very easy and I would definitely do business with them again. Thank you!

Good replacement for stock AM/FM
This radio has been in my F-250 work truck 6 months and has performed very well. Doesn't skip playing CD's or MP3 disks except for the most bumpy roads. Has some nice features- like Local/Dx for the tuner. Sounds good with the stock speakers. Only thing I don't like is the AUX input doesn't seem to work that great- maybe it's just mine- I tried two separate cables- have to turn the volume up loud & get a lot of hiss- I quit trying to use it and instead burned some MP3 disks which work very well.

excellent buy
Bought this unit to replace my failing eclipse model 5331 which i owned for 15 years. Wanted another eclipse and also wanted a double din unit this time as well to fit the dash in my ford ranger properly so the unit looked factory installed. i was skeptical how good this unit would work when i ordered it as it didn't cost much and it was a "low end" model. i've been really spoiled on my high end deck all these years. after sweating out the waiting for it to come and having it installed, let me tell you, this unit is awesome. it has the same high end sound and quality as the previous one i had in the truck. clean high end and midrange and thumping base tones to go right along with it. i cant find any distortion at any level in it whatsoever. i would highly recommend this unit to anyone who wants a premium sounding system with the factory install look in their vehicle. worth every penny of the money it cost me. And free shipping to boot!
Only one complaint with it. As the last deck used to be able to display the time constantly this one does not. you have to press the display button every time you want to see the time. No big issue.

An OK Stereo
There is no way this is a $299 stereo before being reduced to $99 - it is definitely a budget stereo. This stereo feels borderline cheap/ adequate and little more.
The sound is slightly better than the OEM stereo it replaced. Definitely not audiophile quality, but acceptable on a budget. The volume doesn't go very loud, but is OK. The FM reception is weak (verses the OEM) and makes a static humming sound. This is my first MP3 playing stereo and I really do like being able to put an MP3 CD or USB stick into the unit. That function works great.
The buttons on the unit feel extremely cheap and I only hope they have good durability. Some of the functions work strange. The volume button increases very slowly, so you have to turn and turn to get any loudness. And the time is displayed only momentarily on the display (annoying).
One of the main reasons I bought this stereo was theft deterrence. And I definitely don't expect anyone wanting to steal this unit. All in all, an OK stereo, but I sort of wish I would have bought something better.

GREAT DEAL
I like this stereo because of how simple it looks , so i dont think someone is going to steal it. But it does everything i want with the iPod connection that not only plays it , but charges it too. And so far its played any kind of cd format ive put in it. Great price for all i got , and the fact the wiring came free with it is the best.

bought this and went right in to my explorer, looks factory but gives speakers more depth, great stereo for the money.

Good overall features and performance
I have bought two Eclipse CD1200G and am pleased about the features and the ease of use. I like the dual red/green that you can change according to your vehicle' s instrument lighting color. I go fishing and take my Honda CRV off road a lot and even with all the bumps on the road the unit is playing clear. One drawback is when you are making or receiving a phone call even if its a near by car, you get an annoying buzz or hum. But if that's not a concern then go ahead and get this, it's affordable and don't find it at your audio store near town.

Nice stereo
The Eclipse radio does exactly what I wanted, good sound and a OEM look. So far very pleased with the stereo & was able to integrated the steering wheel control from my 2006 Fusion.

I love it!
I bought this head unit because I did not want the flashy multicolored look of most radios today. Most people don't even realize it has been changed from the factory radio. The sound quality is amazing and the controls are straight forward. The front Aux. input and USB input are great features. I use them both regularly. I would recommend and buy this unit again. Service and support from Sonic Electronix was great as well. Buy with confidence!!

Easy to use at a great value.
I bought this head unit because of it's OEM look, but it still has a ton of features. The iPod interface works great, it even charges my iPhone. Plays MP3 cds, plays files off of a USB flash drive, and even has an aux input. I am impressed for the price. Button illumination selectable between red and green (the screen stays blue).
The specs on the site say it is not steering wheel control compatible, this is not correct. When I received this unit I noticed it had the brown and brown/black wires (eclipse's steering remote control wires). So I gave it a shot and purchased a PAC SWI-ECL2v1. Steering wheel controls work as expected, no difficulties at all.
I recommend this product if you're looking for a full featured unit with an OEM look at an affordable price.

Excellent Item!
I purchased this radio to replace the factory radio/cd player in my 2004 GMC Canyon. It has both a front aux input for my iPod and I purchased the iPod cord adapter that plugs in the rear of the unit and allows control from the radio + charging. This radio looks great, like a factory original. And being double din like the original, the controls are easy to use, not crammed together in a small space like the single din radios. It sounds excellent with plenty of power and easy to use controls. Great bass! I'm considering purchasing a second unit for another car. Can't beat the price!

distorted my speakers
pros:
looks stock, easy ipod intergration, custom illumination (the blue on the display stays blue).
cons:
as soon as i turned up the volume it would cause distortion in my speakers and my stock would not.

Good unit for the money!
Great value for the money if you want an inexpensive upgrade to USB/MP3 capability. Perfect if you want a simple OEM look and find the styling of most aftermarket units too gaudy. The only thing I don't like is how you have to hold your finger on the tuner button to seek the next available station. Pity as well that it doesn't have a "scan" function, which is why I give only 3 stars for ease of use.

Good Stereo
I put this in my moms van because her factory stereo went out and we wanted one with an auxiliary input so we could play our MP3's. This was a perfect stereo for what we wanted. It even has good level options with the feature "loud" which definitely makes my moms factory speakers sound better. Its installation was way easy and fit perfect. The only dilemma in this car was the fact it had about a cm on all sides after the dash trim was put back on and so I had to make a custom trim to fit around the stereo. Other than that its perfect.

Would highly recomend
Great stereo, specially if you want that oem look. Stereo has many features you would only find in much more expensive units, I highly recomend this eclipse for those looking for performance with out breaking your wallet!

overall great value
This is a "Ford stock looking" radio. that is why i wanted it, to keep the radio looking like a factory stock one so no one is tempted to steal it. For the money I recommend it if you are looking for a radio with a iPod and usb flash card capability, and you do not care about flashy cosmetics or a built in gps screen (very cool in my opinion). One thing I hate about this radio is that there is no PAUSE button and when you are playing mp3, you have to turn it off in order to not miss out on what you are listening to (I listen to audio books). The iPod once you plug it in, is useless - you have to use the limited forward back dash buttons to control it, making a deep search not possible and you have to unplug the ipod to find another folder to play from. this radio sounds every bit as good as the stock radio, and for me was a great option because i do not have radio steering controlls... again, for $109, this is a great bargain. i would not rave about this radio if it was like a thousand dollars, so keeping the price in mind it is awesome and can not be beat for the money.

Eclipse CD1200G
We got our daughter a car, but she didn't like the radio/stereo. She now LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, her new car stereo/CD player. We got an estimate for installation, but when we went to get it installed, the technician said they misquoted the price, because this was a lot more of a deluxe CD player/stereo (therefore, complex) than they thought. Luckily for us, they still honored the cheaper installation price because it is what they quoted us. Plus, she is now thrilled with her car. :)

Quality stereo
This stereo has easy to use menus and has good sound and power for the money. I really like the USB port as I don't have to worry about keeping a MP3 player charged up or keep a bunch of CD's in the car.. I just loaded a 4 gig memory stick with music and plugged it inand the stereo does the rest. Works so well I have never used the CD player.

Low cost and oem look
I received my unit yesterday and had it in that evening. I had my old unit stolen and wanted something that looked factory. This Eclipse deck did it for me. Upon looking for a new stereo, I wanted iPhone/iPod connection and this deck had that plus a usb port and aux in, plus 2 preouts all for $110. It even charges my iphone. controlling the ipods playlists and albums and so forth through the deck for is very easy to do.

Updated Review - A Good Radio For the Money
I have had this stereo for over 4 months now and wanted to revise my previous review. At first I was rather underwhelmed by the plain appearance of the unit, but since then it has really grown on me.
In the time I have used it, this has turned out to be a really good stereo. Once you get over it's quirks, the stereo works great and actually sounds pretty good.
One of the best features of it's plain / OEM appearance is theft deterrence. No, it's not audiophile quality, but it's a good stereo for the price.

Very reliable stereo....
I have had this product for over six months and I haven't had a single problem. It works great, has a nice sound range, and if hooked up right will sound amazing for a very long time.

Eclipse CD1200G
Got this head-unit for my Volvo V70 2.5T 2004. Much, much better then stock stereo. Built myself 2-din frame which took a while. But installing the Eclipse was simple. Just recently added Bazuka sub, and even though Eclipse doesn't have dedicated sub output, connecting it to line-out gives me good bass. for the price/quality i'm satisfied. Got it mostly to use USB, and it does it well. Reads MP3, WMA, AAC no problems, 4gb cards max. You can use larger size, but it won't read pass 4gb of music files. Only 1 out of 8 flash drives didn't work with it, which means it has great compatibility ratio. Works even with USB SDcard adapters. had to read manual to figure out how to browse folders and setup clock. Now, for 4 -5 month of owning it, i'm glad i got it. The only way it's out of my dashboard is if i decide to get DVD with navigation instead.

Great Deck!
I really like this deck because it looks like it is an OEM one. It even sounds better then my factory deck. The only problem I have is that it leaves a little gap on the bottom where the old deck used to fill in. Other then that its all good.

Not a good radio
Poor reception under freeway overpasses. Can't set clock to be preferred display over station #. Bought it just for the auxillary input, which works, only good thing I can say.

Bang for the buck!!
I would higly recommend this deck!! You get all the features you need (MP3, ability to play iPod, and music on USB drive, ability to add an aftermarket amp) The sound is excellent!! I got the deck to replace the factory cd player that failed. It fits perfectly and looks factory so no one will want to break into the car. I would give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

very sactisfactory
This the best radio out in the market. First of all no one would like to get a window broken for stereo. This one looks so original that you can not tell is after market . On top of everything eclipse is the clearest one out there and the best stock radio.

Great for the Money, but radio is weak....
This is a great unit for the money! That being said, the radio tuner is one of the worst performing ones I've ever used. Even with the setting for distant stations on this has frequent fading and extremely poor rejection of unwanted signals. Outside of the FM radio, I really like the USB mp3 playback feature. Just stick a flash drive in and you get hour after hour of uninterrupted music. As others have said I wish there was better control over the equalizer functions and a less cluttered and more usable display screen. Dollar for dollar though this thing is great as a replacement unit.

eclipse cd1200g
I bought one of these for my mazda mx5 because it has red lit buttons to match the other interior lights in the car. also because it is a double din and it fits perfectly in the space. the look is plain, more like a factory radio than the glitzy head units. it looks like a factory radio which is the look i wanted. functionally, it works great, plays all formats of CDs, plays music on a memory stick with the USB, plays music thru the aux port from my PC or movie sounds. best part is the ipod attachment, charges the ipod, displays a simple menu to select songs. i like it so much, i bought another unit just like it for my daughters mazda protege. looks and works great in that car too.
the only thing i wished it had was a better equalizer. it has 3 levels low, mid, high, but i wished it had more. not a big negative, the good things far outweigh this one.

really nice head unit
I recommened this head unit to all looking for a decent price. Had a little trouble wiring it up to the car but realized that there are two remote wires in this head unit and both need to be ran to the amplifer i had for my subs. Once it was done wow amazing. Good product.

Eclipse CD1200G review
This deck is a good deck. Not great but it fills the gap in my dash and it is a great deal on a good deck. Of course to get a great deck your going to spend 3x-4x this much. Has good features and the aux input is great. One superb thing is that it doesn't get all flashy and hard to decyfer the screen like most other double din units. Install was to be as expected except the spot in the dash for my 98 maxima was slightly taller so some modified trim gap fillers were a must. Looks great after that.

Dynamic, Discrete Double DIN
I bought this to replace my Matrix' factory stereo after its display began to fade out. Not only did the Eclipse red lights match the interior but the stripped-down design blended right in. There's nothing I hate more than a gaudy "sci-fi" look to modern car stereos. It sounds great and offers a ton of flexibility (AUX-in, USB-in, iPod cable connectivity). A perfect buy in my opinion.
My only gripe is the display text for MP3 ID3 tags take up two rows of the available space and scrolls very slowly—so reading it is a major pain in the ass. Also, media is listed alphabetically with no way to "skip" or "scan" faster than scrolling through the ENTIRE alphabet A > Z. No big deal for a couple of files but try navigating an iPod with hundreds of tracks, artists and albums! YIKES!

Perfect factory look alike
I like that this unit looks like something from the factory, no monster screen or any fancy lights,
The only issues I have are technical:
1. I forget the number of songs, but I think its 512. If you have more than 512 songs it WILL NOT recognize them all. I found it annoying, but not deal breaking.
2. For USB at least, the random setting does not work with the track skip button. If you have it set to play random, and hit the 'next track' button, it goes to the next physical track, not a 'random track'. Again, a silly annoyance.

Good Product
It is a great stereo for the price. I like the solid and simple face design with larger buttons and dial like the stock radio had. The USB port works great and I have a mini 4GB USB stick plugged all the time. There is a manual with easy and detailed instructions on how to use the features. The only thing I don't like is how bright the button illumination is and there is no way to turn it off.

swapped stock for this.
got an 04 f-150...swapped stock stereo for this. love the way it looks. fancy but definitely not flashy. I love it. so far options are great to use, have had it in my truck now for a week. easy install. didn't have any problems, but then again I have installed stereos before...I say install difficulty a 3 out of a 5 for first timers. (personal opinion of course.) item descriptions are all accurate as far as I have experienced. definitely worth price with free shipping. only thing I don't like is that I wish it can switch between more colors other than green and red...also do not forget to turn on AUX. gotta get to it threw the menu screen to do it.

Works great. Nice clear sound can then it way up and it doesn't distort at all the only thing I didn't like it was a little to small for my volvo so I have a gap on the top and bottom and the wire harness they sent was the wrong one so i just wired it in, and it doesn't have sub pre out but it has rear pre out all in all I like it.

Great head unit!!!
I love this stereo! You cannot find anything out there for this price that even comes close to it.
I love how you can keep the factory look and have the features of an aftermarket stereo.
The build quality is good, the sound quality is good and the price is awesome.
I have been installing stereo gear in my cars and my friends cars for over 10 Years now and this is already one of my favorite head units that I have used. It has a nice clean look and works well. Great product!

Spend more get something better
The stereo has good connectability for MP3 players & USB (connected my pc). However, if I could get my money back I would. There is no equalizer. You can only adjust high/medium/lows. This may not be an issue to others, but it is huge to me. If however, you are looking for the least expensive doube din, well this might be the one. Also, while not ugly, it is not attractive either, actually looks OEM. Not for those wanting to pimp out or upgrade stock.
