You do get what you pay for.
I installed one of these in my 2006 mustang gt,I know it was cheap, but it is Eclipse after all. Well sonic is awesome,BUT, this head unit sounded horrible the lights would flicker whenever I turned my lights on and when I cranked up the volume with heavy bass music it would shut down then come back on,I sent it back and once sonic issues a refund or store credit, I am going to add some more funds and buy a better unit.

By far the best head unit for the money
What can I say, this is the best value out there for the money if you are looking for a double din deck that is not a touch screen. Eclipse makes decks one of the most quality decks on the market today and to get one for under $100 with full ipod functionality is amazing. I installed this deck in my ford ranger xlt with 2 sets of Eclipse 5x7- 3 way speakers. I purchased it all here at Sonic for a little over $150. This is probably the best purchase I made here. You cant go wrong with this deck. Get one before they run out!! You'll be impressed.

So-so
Often fails to read USB stick (several different brands have been tried) on car start.
Poor display quality, and can't force to stay on clock.

Just what I needed
I bought this unit because I am someone who is on a tight budget, wanted a very OEM look to my car, but also wanted an upgrade of my crappy OEM 1999 Accord stereo. I just installed it tonight along with some aftermarket speakers and I am very very happy with my purchase. This unit is not fancy at all, and doesn't have that many bells and whistles, but it has full iPod control and I am getting great sound quality with just some basic aftermarket speakers. And it has a pair of RCA-outs if i ever decided I want to add a speaker amp or sub. So glad I stumbled upon this product on this site!!!

exactly what i wanted
I have owned this radio for almost 2 years now. I have had zero problems with it. The only thing I would do to make it better is to have a "pause" button so you can pause your playback quickly and then resume quickly. When you get a phone call for example, you have to hold the power button down for at least 3 seconds and then to get the radio on again hit the power button. Not the end of the world but not as nice as a quick touch pause button would be. As for the other reviews here, I can make the clock display just fine. Not sure why they are having trouble. As for the sound quality, it was equal to my oem ford radio. The guy who said in a review here that you should not use this radio with good speakers doesn't know what he is talking about. I wonder if he is using bad speakers in order to enhance his sound. lol. The value for the purchase price is awesome. I was specifically looking for a radio to replace my stock radio that looked plain and stock...so no one would want to steal it. I have seen others on here say they dont like the lights or the display... well you could buy a radio with better cosmetics but not for a ridiculously low price. I wanted the radio to look this way, and for my purposes it is perfect. I highly recommend to anyone who loves to play audio books from a thumb drive or mp3 disk. I have the ipod cable but I actually hate my ipod so i dont use it. Its too much easier to use a flash drive.

Good Product
This head unit is very nice and I like the sound and quality of it and you also get nice features like USB, AUX, and Ipod connections. Minor drawbacks are:
The iPod cable would not allow you to control your menu from iPod so you have to do it from the head unit itself.

Works. Probably won't get stolen.
So this unit leaves a lot to be desired. But I knew that when I bought it. I just didn't want to put in a HU that tempted others to steal it. This unit has all the modern audio connections one needs, but none of the flash & glamour.
Despite buying it for its stocky-ness, I'm still docking it a star for accuracy's sake. This isn't a dream headunit by any means.
Pros: AUX IN (heck yes), 4-ch. amp support. Stealing it is more hassle than it's worth, I'm sure.
Cons: Ugly little thing. Bright, bright lights that don't convey important information. Primitive, limited controls/menus. All the buttons feel cheap, so cheap...

Great Stereo, Simple to Use and Awesome VALUE !
I bought this to replace a boss double din I installed not to long ago that I wasn't impressed with. This stereo sounds great and matchs my the 6x8 JVC Grand Tourings very well! It pumps out plenty of power, has a decently customizable EQ and has more radio channel presets the you'll ever need. The iPod attachment works great and the cable is crazy long so you can install it anywhere. I have very little cons to say other than when using the iPod, it takes forever to scroll to the bottom of your music list on the deck screen. Over all. Simply stylish, great sound, value A+++++

Awesome Buy
Can't go wrong for the price. This is an excellent and simple to use unit which looks very much like OEM. Straight forward features, love the iPod add-on. Works like a charm in my Lexus LS.

Awesome
I always have trusted Eclipse head units, they never seem to give me any trouble. System works great, no issues with bumps/rough rides, does not volume down on me randomly while driving. A+ BUY !!

Godd for the $$$$
Exceeded my expectations for a low priced stereo system. Although it did not come with a manual, the function is easy to figure out. Controls are very easy.

Good upgrade from factory head unit
I've had this unit in my '09 VW Rabbit for 2-years and it has worked flawlessly. It has a factory look with large buttons and a simple interface without any irritating wiz-bang flashy features. The red illumination matches the red lighting of the rest of the dash nicely. Navigation to most of it's features is fairly easy while driving. The iPod control, however, is very difficult to navigate while keeping eyes on the road. I usually need to wait until a (long) stoplight to safely change artist or album. Power is a bit on the low side, and I used it's pre-outs to install an amp for the door speakers and a sub for a really nice sound.
I'm itching for a new head unit with Bluetooth and HD radio, but I hate to give up the large buttons and conservative look of this unit.

alright for less then a hundred bucks
Its a decent deck with a few features. It does have some quirks. The usb is kinda buggy and works sometimes and not others and also skips quite a bit. The Ipod input works quite well except the controls are impossible to navigate while driving. As far as sound, eh. It does only put out 14w RMS so maybe hook the car speakers to an amp and you would be better off. It would be nice if the lights could be blue and not just red or green. other than that, its a great deal.

You get what you pay for
First of all, thank you Sonic for the excellent price and quick shipping. I bought this to replace a 6-cd factory HU since I wanted iPod integration. For the price I paid, less than $120, I got a great mix of features - aux in, USB, iPod integration, and a nice OEM look.
At least, I thought it looked OEM til I got it installed and turned it on. I was greeted with an obnoxiously bright blue display and green accenting around the buttons. The display color cannot be changed, or dimmed, but the accenting may be changed to red, which is a nice touch. However, it baffles me as to why Eclipse would not make the display and accenting the same color. This, in my opinion, would give it a much, much cleaner look, especially at night.
Sound quality is par. You can't expect the best from a $120 HU, and you don't get the best. I don't recommend using this unamped with high quality speakers, as it will expose all the HU's flaws.
USB and aux-in work well for me. But the iPod integration leaves a bit to be desired. I'm using this with a 2G (2008) iPod touch. Though it reads fine, there is an annoying 1-2 second pause while switching tracks. I see no reason this should happen, since the iPod is flash memory and requires very little time to seek. The difference between the quarter second pause while skipping tracks on CDs and the 1-2 second pause skipping tracks on my iPod is glaring.
The HU does not allow you to control the iPod while it is plugged in. Eclipse's solution is to start at top-level attributes (playlists, artists, genres, etc) and have you enter directory after directory to find what you're looking for, using the volume wheel to scroll.. slowly. This is clunky and slow (not to mention dangerous while driving - PLEASE do it at stoplights or have a passenger do it), but I guess it's the best they could do with a small display. No points taken off here, just an annoyance.
As someone else mentioned, it is impossible to make the display stay on the clock. In addition, it's impossible to set the display to show one attribute of an iPod track. For example, if you want to see the artist, you have to hit the display button 3 times to switch to it. However, as soon as you skip to the next track, it'll show the track name again, and to see the artist... ad infinitum. Another annoyance is that to seek for FM stations, you must hold the button down for about 1 second before it starts to seek. The EQ only offers low, mid, high, fade, balance, and loudness, which is on par for this price point.
Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase, but only due to the low price. I will soon be replacing this HU. If you're just looking for a cheap way to play your iPod/mp3 player/USB stick in the car or replace an old tape deck with a CD player and sound quality isn't so important, I would recommend this. For everyone else, you'd be better off to spend $100-250 more on high-quality HU.

I installed the unit into my 2000 nissan then realized it came with no iPod adapter and no mounting accessories. I was and still am sad but other than that the radio works fine.

Great Buy!!
I bought this unit to replace the non working cd player in my gf's 1998 Honda Accord EX and I am impressed!! It sounds so much better than the factory CD player and you get iPod/Mp3/USB player capabilities!!! I wanted something that would look factory but not sound factory and this unit fits the bill. Easy installation. The only dislike I have is with the IPOD controls. You can not use your IPOD to skip to songs, etc as it is disabled once you plug in the IPOD. Other than that I am pleased!! This is a must have if you want to upgrade without drwaing attention to the stereo.
