Awsome sound monitor

I call it a sound monitor as CD player does not do it justice. This is a very technical unit that I would not recomend unless you have a fair bit of experience tuning car stereos. The options for setting up an audio system with this unit is endless. Has all active 3 way built in x-overs 6 12 18 24db for high, mid & low pass. Full Time alignment on all 6 channels, gain adjustment plus 7 band PEQ on 4 speaker system, 5 band on High, mid, low on 3 way active set up. Who needs amps with x-overs when you got this unit with the cleanest x-overs I have heard. The 8 volt pre out makes your amps nice & efficient with being able to run your amps with lower gains - means less current draw from charging system = better sound quality. Has an all copper chassis which minimizes noise floor. Now if you are not familiar with these features I would suggest not buying this unit because if not set up correctly, like any system iy will sound like a dog barking out his breakfast. At least get a professional to install & tune it as it is not simple for the novice. I totally disagree with 1 review who said it sounded bad. this unit is 1 of 2 or 3 units highly prized by audiophiles at comps the world over. I love this unit along with other audiophiles out there who own them & enjoy them very much. 1 of the best kept secrets of the audiophile world. Top unit.

Eclipse CD7200 MkII hiss is easily fixed

Any hiss that is all pervasive is due to innocent people having wound the accompanying car amp gain feedback adjustments up above zero.

My Eclipse CD7200 MkII was installed like that with the 3x amplifier gains wound up 1.5 turns. It was trivial to ask for the 3x feedback gain adjustments for the 5 channel class A boot -mounted amp to be minimized.

All hiss instantly vanished. Sound is now crystal clear and after some tailoring to the classical violin music I love, it is genuine car audio audiophile listening for a very fussy listener..

Awsome

After i installed this deck(never even got into the setting yet) i tried out my system T2000 rockford bd amp 1/8 gain, 2 15"1000watt clarion subs, i blew my main fuse even with a cap after 30 seconds. For that 30 seconds it sounded awesome and shook my truck, with my old deck (4Vpreout) and my amp 3/4 gain it was not even close to as loud with not even comparable sound quality. This deck is Great cant wait to start tuning it, well worth the money if you want great sound quality. p.s. my infinity speakers were louder with not distortion @ high volumes.
Also the user manual is 119 pages so for full power of this deck a little bit of reading is recommended.

Good unit, but not audiophile quality

Cons: Faint Hiss, Interface, Lacks Excellent Sq, Monochrome Display

Pros: Good Value, Good Features, Decent Sound Quality

Bottom Line:Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought a Clarion DRX9675 many years ago when it was Clarion's top-of-the-line model. It has superb sound quality, and I have been using it in all my cars ever since. However, it is missing many modern features like MP3 playback, AUX in, HD/SAT radio, and Bluetooth. I finally got fed up with the lack of features and decided to buy a new head unit. I bought the CD7200 MKII expecting that it would provide all of these features at the expense of a bit of sound quality. It certainly delivers in the feature department, including everything listed above, and more. You get just about every feature you could hope for, at a great price. The button layout on the unit is for the most part intuitive and easy to use without looking. However, I found the sound quality to be unacceptable compared to my DRX9675. Don't get me wrong; the CD7200 has pretty good SQ. However, it is advertised as having "audiophile sound quality," and I would say that it does not quite deliver to that level. In addition, I noticed that the unit produces some hiss that increased as I turned up the gains on my amplifier. The good news is that the hiss volume was constant and did not increase when I increased the volume on the unit. Finally, even though the button layout on the face is sensible, the small monochrome screen and the imprecise directional control makes the interface a bit frustrating at times. Though this unit is not for me, I would say it delivers enough features and enough sound quality for the price to be a great buy for all but the pickiest users. Unless you are extremely critical or used to very high-end units, you will likely enjoy the CD7200 MKII with only a few minor gripes
