Good Product

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2050-EDPB).

I recommend this alarm system and remote start best alarm system I had. The 2 mile range on this system is the best it actually works at 2 miles which I really wanted I can start my truck from inside my apartment complex. This alarm system has the best features like locking the remote so you don't accidentally turn your truck on and everything is visual on your remote and many more features. If looking for a great system this is it and the price I searched this alarm on other websites and couldn't find anything close to what sonicelectronix had to offer.

Omega AL-2050 in GMC ENVOY SLT

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2050-EDPB).

Have always been impressed by Omega security products.
This alarm system was replacing a previous system (not Omega) that consisted of 3 separate components (the alarm itself, a remote start module and a GM Databus module DB-GMDL-BP). This new system allowed the purchase of a pre-programmed OL-BLADE-AL-64 which took care of all interfacing of door-locks, door-open-sense, immobilitzer-keyless-remote-start, dome-lighting, tach-sense, etc. Parking lights need be wired directly. Note, if this system is moved to another vehicle, all that is necessary is re-programming of the BLADE module, NOT repurchasing a new system. The long-range two-way remote says its good for 1 mile but as long as it works from the far depths of the grocery store, I'M HAPPY. The two-way-display remote needs charging about once a month with normal use and it'll let you know when. It charges from a standard mini-usb charger. The remote is customizable if you want to change things like sounds and vibrate on/off. Valet-mode is very easily initiated and defeated with or without the vehicle running. Remote-start run time can be as long as 20-minutes and cranking-length is adjustable too. In fact, there are many customizable options that are easily achieved. ONE BIG NOTE: The default option for parking-lights during remote-start is FLASHING and I suggest you change this as it will probably cause havoc on GM cars causing the parking lights and the low-beams to alternate. Since I have heated seats, I chose to turn that option on and off via toggle switch that I can enable during the winter so that during Remote-Start this option will turn on BOTH heated seats to FULL and have your bum toasty on a cold winter day. If you wire everything up correctly, you can have your vehicle cool-down on a hot day and warm-up on a cold-day. Another Note: on GM vehicles that also have a rear-fuse-block, you'll have to add an additional relay to initiate the power to it during remote-start. If you don't, the BCM(body control module) will malfunction and you might not have window or door-lock controls or something else.

ok

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2050-EDPB).

well been an ok alarm i expected it to be better tho... the one mile range is more like 4 blocks even with the 2way remote also the two way remote lasted about 6 months now and just one day it turned off and wont turn back on so now im just down to the one way remote not happy at all about that... most likely i will not buy the Excalibur again nor would i recommend this to anyone .. im not too much of a fan of viper but definitely had better luck and way better range with them

excellent product

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2050-EDPB).

The wires in the harness are of really nice quality. The alarm itself has a ton of features and is blade compatible. The blade save me a lot of connections and make the install go very smooth.

Could be a whole lot better..

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2050-EDPB).

I have owned two way alarms for a while, and am very familiar with their functions. This alarm though nice, lacks one of the basic features of a two way, it doesn't notify you of warn away triggers in case your door gets hit or something of the sort when you get back to your vehicle. With most two way pagers, when you are out of range, and your alarm gets triggered for what ever reason, when you return to the vehicle and deactivate the alarm, you get notified that the shock sensor has been triggered. Now you get this function for a full blown impact that triggers the main alarm, but not the ones that show the minor impacts. This would normally cause you to do a walk around to see where you possibly got dinged. All other two way pagers has this basic functionality except Omega's highest alarm system. Makes no sense.

Other than that, the alarm does offer close to a three block range as long as you have clear view of the vehicle (one mile range?? what a joke), if inside a building or have any other obstructions, then forget about it, get familiar with the out of range icon.

The alarm is decently loud, and the shock sensor for warn aways could be a little more sensitive. Value is where it is at with this alarm system, because you get it for about $200, when most two way pager alarms with the color oled screen run about $350. The design is also pretty good, not that extremely fat alarm FOB. Using the product is simple, so not a lot of rocket science needed to control the basic functions.

Oh, last gripe with this alarm, you have animations for your door trigger and even one for your trunk, get that if your trunk gets open when activated, but none for the ignition trigger. so if someone bypasses the door, and attempts to start the vehicle by what ever means, the alarm will trigger and kick in the starter kill if set up, but your key FOB wont show that the alarm was triggered due to the ignition, which is quite important, it will just show the standard door trigger animation.. considering that this is their high end model, that sucks..
Honestly, I don't recommend it, I would rather go with the auto page which has all those functions that I mentioned, or one of the originals, like viper and so forth..

Works good and good value

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2030-EDPB).

Works really great i just had it installed this week on my 5 speed 04 neon and it starts up no problem. The shock sensors however dont appear to work or i need to adjust the setting because i hit my car not too hard nor too soft all over and the alarm wont go off unless i open the doors etc. Other than that minor detail i will fix, everything works great and nice visuals on the remote.

Good Value

The following review is for a previous version (AL-2030-EDPB).

Has great features for a good price. But the OLED Colour Remote failed me within a week. It began by forming screen burn, and then became darker and darker, until I could not see it anymore. I am in the process of returning it direct to Omega myself. But being in Australia, this is quite a process. Consider another, better known brand for this reason alone... Otherwise, good budget alarm/remote starter.
