Stupid loud subs

Just got two of these hooked up in a ported q logic box and they are crazy loud. These can easily handle the rms ratings no problem. 2 of them and my rear view mirror falls off.

F-4 is correct !

Liked the looks, the price was really good. After "free air" break in period, stuck it in a 1.7 sealed/1.4 partition ported enclosure on 1 1/2" x 22". Thing turned out sickening. Have yet to run more than 200 watts on .6 boost, but as is, It turned out to be the loudest, hard hitting, and steady sub on a 12" diameter in my entire area. Can't wait to hook up my KDC-7206 on this beast. Additionally the leads for the coil are one small detail I love!! Wish more drivers had the same spider integrated design, so I wouldn't have so many failures from over excursion. I will be ordering more for my future projects.

Good sub on the cheap!

When the tinsel leads on my older Infinity Ref series sub fried, I needed a quick replacement on the cheap. I know to stay wayyy clear of Boss, Pyle, Legacy, and especially Pyramid low end subs. When I read that FLI was made by VIBE I figured it couldnt be all that bad and took a leap of faith with this Frequency 12 sub, and quite happy that I did.

At 1st it sounded a bit strange and slow to respond, but now after about 20 hours of wear in time, it really is sounding much MUCH better. Currently it's running at 300rms, which is what the Infinitys rms was, and the reason I bought a 300rms(@ 4ohms) Kenwood amp. So even being underpowered, its sounding pretty sweet. The suspension on this sub is pretty tight, and surround is nice and thick. The cone feels fairly ridged also. All nice attributes in a sub. The spring loaded teminals are a plus, and make installation hasle free and quick.

One thing I especially love, and something that isnt mentioned in the description, is that the tinsel leads are woven into the spider (suspension). That is something more commonly seen in higher priced subs. Woven tinsel leads, as far as Ive heard, have better longevity than a non-woven lead. Kudos to FLI for that!

The hardware is even quite nice...it comes with nice hex screws to mount it with rather than cheap phillips screws. It also gives it a cleaner, classy look when installed.
My only gripe with this sub would be the pointless rubber boot. For one, it does absolutely nothing. Second, it doesnt even fit all that snug. Its only snug around the magnet, but the thicker pieces that sit on the basket just kind of flop around, and MAY give off some unwanted vibration when the sub is thumping. Best bet would be to just remove the rubber boot before install. You don't get to see it anyway, so no biggie. This sub is very well made for the price tag.

Now that Ive run it in a bit more, it might even be better sounding than the old Infinity it replaced. If SE gets any more back in stock, I will surely buy another. At $30 its a no-brainer and cheap enough to take the chance for yourself. Just make sure you give it some time to break in. I did just that, and like I said before, it sounds much better than when I 1st put it in my car. I would really like to hear it running at its full 400rms, but for now, the 300rms is doing the job nicely. In my opinion, I wouldnt power it with anything less than 300rms in a sealed enclosure. Very sure it would pound nice with less wattage in a ported box tho. Or even in a hatchback car, van, suv, pu truck, etc. In an enclosed trunk space, which I have, and in a sealed box. It's gonna need some juice.

rubber boot

These subs are fierce for the price and i have 3 in a sealed box in suv and they kick. But the rubber boot mentioned is there for setting the speaker down without scratching the magnet. And to avoid some of the magnet attractions like anything metal.

Good value sub

Seem well made with durable material, look great. Caught them on sale and had to give them a try. Not disapointed. Good value subwoofer, would compete with most major manufacturers low end line. (Prime, Cobalt, etc).

Cons. Took several weeks to break them in. Sometimes has a strange tone, apparently from cone material or hard plastic dust cap. Has some rubber pieces on back that have no apparent use except for looks. Had a lot of port noise (ported magnet) when mounted backwards
