decent vehicle specific box

I had only 1 pair of subs with this & they are "JL 12w3v3-4". I had an off brand model amp call "magma bass" an MTX built product that is part of a budget amp package on this site. Its giving my w3's 200 watts per sub @ 2 ohms. JL 12w3 are rated @ 500 watts rms, optimum 300-400 watts. This setup had a nice tight kick bass that a sealed box will have. I was only using this lower end amp to ease in my JL subs which are capable of sounding great between 150-500 watts. @ 200 watts per sub this box is a great box although in order for my w3's to fit i had to add a sub hole extension. when i hooked up an amp that was giving my subs 400 watts each the same box sounded horrible, crackling noises, not hitting hard like previous.

Pros:

This is a great box for dodge trucks which allows to still have your bench seat down which i like & decent leg room for younger passengers. clean powerful look as big 12" subs seem to appear from nowhere.. Sounds terrific inside the cab bass you can feel. Outside is just another thump to know there are subs inside but that's it.

Cons:

I would say 200 watts is the peak of this box as it doesn't seem to take a lot of power well maybe because its only has 0.70 cubes per chamber. I will say get a sub with those specs or a lower power sub & this box will get the job done. Not for boomers because its a small sealed box that fire forward so I'm sure about the cabin gain factor i like rear firing personally. Better have grills for the subs if you have kids.

Summary:

I trying to decide between the the JL 12w0's for this box or the RE Audio SRX. both are rated @ 300 watts. The Re spec are 0.50 - 0.75 per sub while the JL are 1.375 but also says in the officail desription that its designed for small compact sealed enclousures. Those should be a better fit i think & since I don't believe in waste I will have a custom box built for them to sis on top of my bench seat. built for fast removal. it will be ported & rear firing which should give me the boom & truck shake that im missing. with that I will have the best of both worlds when comes to bass "sealed & ported". will update in a month or so.

ODG 2 12 Great Fit

I bought this box to sit under the seat of a 1999 Dodge Ram It fits perfectly and looks good and I still have full use of rear seat. now this box does not have large volume so it is not for extremely high powered subs i would not go over 400 rms i have that and it sounds great gives me the moderate sound i want and still gets noticed
