Guess I spoke too soon...

This is a follow-up review I replaced my 4 doors with these in March 2010. It's now October 2010. I recently upgraded 4ch amp to Pioneer GM-D9500F. CEA compliant 75 W RMS... and now one of the fronts is becoming blown. I used the HPF on my deck to raise it up a bit (100Hz) so less mid-bass getting sent to the 4ch's and this has helped buy me some time. It's a shame too because I liked the sound and output of these. Guess they overrated them a bit.

great product

I wrote a review before but i was totally wrong.. these speakers are great. they just sounded bad because i was underpowering them.. if you dont have a amp or powerful head unit to push them they will distorat.. so i have a soundstorm amp and after i hooked them up they sounded amazing!!

Loud and clean

I have a pair of these in the doors of my 06 mustang GT amped and they are loud. They were somewhat loud of the head unit but you expect more from them. Amped, they are just as clean as JL but louder. They also have the cool light feature that goes along with the song, but I don't use it.

Good Highs and mids

I have had these for six months or so and have them running through a Hifonics HFi55.4 amp (55 watts rms x4 at 4 ohms) and they sound great. the only problem I have is my amp heating up when I crank them up and making them sound washy But that is NOT a speaker problem at all. They look good, sound good, and have lasted through the punishment I have given them. The only thing I would say is they are not so hot in a bass department they are pretty much meds and highs.

Pretty nice

I like these speakers. I got 4 of them them for my 98 crown vic and they work fine, however, I have The Hifonics HFi55.4 Amp powering them, also I've kind of babied my system by using a great amp kit and capacitor. Bottom line, if you take care of these speakers they'll take care of you.

They're the Real Deal!

I ordered a set of these for my front doors to replace some blown Pioneer TS-A6872R (I was never impressed with the Pioneer's BTW). I instantly noticed much improved sound quality and quantity with these so I went right back and ordered 2 more for my rear doors. Put those in today and now I know what the missing element was in why I wasn't quite 100% happy with my system as a whole... it was the previous door speakers being all worn-out and distorted.

and at just under $50 bucks shipped right to my door the very next day (both times I might add) it's a total no-brainer.

BTW.. I'm powering these with an SSL F4.400 rated @ 50 watts RMS so these things surely would perform even more with a better quality amp. And that would have to be redonkulously loud 'cause it's already damn skippy! ;}

good

bought these to replace some factory speakers in a 06 mustang, much better sound quality, they also seem to get louder on the factory head unit than the old ones... the lights are a little silly but you don't have to hook them up... overall very good

ok speakers

these speakers are ok. it cant handle my radio. i have a 200 watt dual cd/usb/aux radio in my car. once i get past probably 30 they start getting distorted. but if ya was powering these speakers with a factory radio then they would be fine. the bass on these speakers are very good thought

soundist

well these speakers are good, only if you have an amp that will give them a lot of watts. if your amp is not very powerful they will sound horrible! you at least need 250Watts for each one so they can function right. if you dont have an amp, go with pioneer speakers. pioneers are lighter.

good speakers

i have a 2002 navigator the stock speakers weren't terrible but i had to have more of an impacting sound so i picked these up. install kinda weird with that lil light thing u have to find a grounding screw.
the light worked up until i added my MRP-F300 /////Alpine speaker amp the light just turned off of every speaker. the sound is really good tho nice clear highs the mids r powerful im not sure about the bass cuz my alpine type r carries that but the blending from speakers to sub is really good with these speakers i would get this again they're pretty good for 44 for a pair and the rubber coated magnet is great cuz i had a small leak in my door from the window and the speaker is fine. if you r hesitant to get these don't be they're great with and without and amp

Great Purchase from Sonic!

Had to replace my four factory speakers in my 2007 Ford Focus after I installed a MTX Thunderform 12 inch subwoofer and replaced the factory radio with an Eclipse CD1200G, both which I got from Sonic. The factory speakers just could not keep up with the Eclipse and MTX to reproduce my MP3 music. I got four of these Zeus speakers after reading all the reviews and comparisons that Sonic has on their site. This is why I'm writing my own review to say thanks to all those before me that helped make my decision which I have not regretted. These speakers fit perfectly and the sound reproduction is fantastic. They have a tremendous dynamic range from the cymbal highs to the kettle drum bass lows which will make my car vibrate with the power turned to about 50% with the MTX going. The blue light is also a plus since I just wired it into my door electric window harness which illuminate only when the ignition switch is in the "on" position. Makes for great ambient lighting behind the speaker grilles. You can't go wrong with these speakers and Sonic's price makes it a Great Value.
