hitron PW420BL

this wire is good but is not real AWG 4 Gauge Wire

By Chris on June 24, 2014

its ok

this cable will do the job... im a bit dissapointed though because it says its 4 awg but its clearly not... it looks like 6 awg...

**NOTE: This product is unfortunately not true AWG gauge. If you are interested in true gauge wire, you will want to look at your Kicker, Monster Cable, Street Wires, Rockford Fosgate, or JL Audio power/ground cables***

Ok Wire

Got some and its not true 4 gauge. Mayb like 10 gauge. Go with kicker wires its a little more but a million times the quality.

Good cheap wire

I bought a wiring kit but needed 20ft of wire and kit only come with a maximum of 17ft. This wire functions great system has not cut out at all.

Pros
-20ft of blue wire
-Works great
-Cheap Iguess you could say

Cons
-Its not true for gauge like more of the expensive wiring
-Wire is pretty stiff if you are looking for flexible wire this aint it

Good product.

I've used this to install my 2 JL Audio amplifiers in my SUV, and it's well priced, well made for the price, and it works fine so far, however like some other reviews, it's a little too thin for 4 gauge power cables.

Very nice

This wire is very nice for the price. I used it to hook up 2 Kicker Comp 12's on a Alpine MRP-450 and it worked great. Very flexible and plenty of length for the install. I used this one spool to go from my battery to my trunk on a distribution block, then splt it to my cap and amp with some left over. great product.

Good but...

Wires good but its not 4 gauge. Kicker 8 gauge is bigger. Might have the right number of strands for 4 gauge classification but the wire they use is much smaller wire. Smaller then any other I have seen before when dealing car power wire.

OFC for the win

For your power wires, be sure to run Oxygen free copper (ofc) it conducts better than regular copper wire, however the exposed wire may begin to oxidize when exposed to air.

I bought some of this wire and it is long enough to get from hood to trunk on any car. 20' is a perfect length, just make sure to dab some vaseline on the terminals imeadiately after your hookup to keep the wire from oxidizing and keep your system running tip-top shape.

junk wire

stay away from this wire. Its 6ga wire with extra thick housing. I dont know how they get away with calling this wire 4ga. very disappointed.

Great Wire

Definitely worth buying! Great wire, true to size. Could be a little more flexible but it was still worth it! Would buy again if I needed more.

Definitely not 4 gauge!

Definitely not 4 gauge wire. As mentioned below, it's more like 6 gauge.

I went to a local shop and bought true 4 gauge wire and there was a difference..

HA!

Not even close to 4 gauge. It's 10 gauge with really thick insulation. Gets hot and ropey with 120amps going through it. What do you expect though.

Good company to order from though, fast shipping, etc.

It's not their fault that everything is produced overseas with low quality standards. They just sell it to us consumers.

Basic Wire

if your planning on running a simple system, this 4 gauge is for you. It's pretty flexible and installing and hiding it is pretty easy. It's not the thickest 4 gauge I have used but its pretty decent.

Good, flexible wire. THe only issue i have is that it isnt really 4 awg. wire. Its more like a 5 or 6 awg. But none the less your getting what you paid for. It does its job.

You get what you pay for.

The only reason I tried this product was the fact sonic states it complies with AWG standards. This was the first product I genuinely feel disappointed with that I purchased from sonic. It might be OFC but dont be fooled, copper is expensive and this isn't the standard of 4awg I am familiar with. I would feel comfortable putting no more than 600wrms through this wire, and I'm being generous.
