6 month review...

Replaced factory speakers with these, driven by a Pioneer GM-D9500F. I've had several audiophiles and musicians in my car and they want me to do the same setup for them. Truly amazing sound.

Good sound

Good highs. Looks great. More bass than you would expect with a shallow design. Shallow design makes it easier to mount and it also comes with nice mounting options.

Buy

Great sound quality, great price. Only problem was that the magnet was too big for my doors. I drive a 96 Mercury Tracer and in the front doors there is a brace that partially impedes on the speaker slot, had to cut some plastic and metal and drill a few new holes, but all around worth it!

Fantastic

I bought 2 pairs of these speakers too install in my 2000 Jetta as my first upgraded sound system. It was super easy and fast considering i did it myself. They sound FANTASTIC, better than my friends 50,000$ Audi. Unfortunately the front door speaker blew the first day. But it was my fault because I had the music way too loud. But i just called Harman and they replaced it quickly and without question. HIGHLY recommended as upgrade.

However if you want to get the best out of these speakers you will need an amp. I just installed an infinity 4 channel amp and the difference is astronomical. Buy these.

You know its not factory...

Very good speakers for the price, I dare say best, but what do you expect from Infinity/Harmon-Kardon. The crossover gets kinda difficult to manage, but at the same time makes things easier. I think I ended up either ziptieing it or sticking it down with dynamat so it wouldn't bang arround. A flaw with my system installation means sometimes when I start my car the radio turns on at full volume, and will make you jump out of your skin (think James Brown). Using the Infinty Kappa Five with the amps crossover at 320 high pass. I think if I can pad the door panels or fur them out from the speakers, then I can set it to an 80 High pass and really make my molecules move! In the doors of my 2002 Monte Carlo SS. I belive the max excursion may be too much for the mounting space and that could be the cause of the bass distortion (either that or the panel needs reinforcement). There was also a mounting spot for a tweeter in the factory door speaker mount, kinda wish I peeled the panel off before making my purchase. I'd rather have components than #-way speakers. I went for the three ways rather than the 2ways and I think it was worth it. High value for dollar.

Bliss!!

This is a wonderful speaker. I currently have a pair mounted in the doors of my 08 Tundra powered by a Soundstream Tarantula 4-channel amp. The highs are very clean and detailed. The bass is good, however I would recommend a sub for lower frequencies. Infinity did a good job with this one. I highly recommend them!!!!

Kappa ya Papa

trust me i have a pair of the previous model and they are just excellent! At high volumes you can still hear every word clearly. I have all the bass filtered to my subs though they can pound if insist on using them for bass. Excellent brand for a phenominal price!

Great buy

I recommend this to any one that wants a good 2 ohm speaker. I have four of these running on a Rockford Fosgate T-400 and they sound great evan past the rated 75 watts RMS.

great product!

These speakers are great for the price! They sound crystal clear when i turn it up, with no distortion at all. I have been using these speakers for about 6 months now. Using a 120rms amp to power these and they still sound as if i just bought them. You wont regret this product.

Infinity Kappa 63.9i Best Speaker Upgrade or Replacment

I purchased two sets (4) of these for my 2011 Kia Sorento and I have not been disappointed. I hear things in my music that I have never heard before. These speakers are the best three ways I have owned to date. I have a Crunch amp (PZA1200.4) pushing these and my stock tweets and it can blow my ear drums out if I turn it past 15 on my headunit. I will buy other infinity products as these are the best.

Great Product for the price!

I bought these speakers to replace the front's in my car in the door. They sounded real nice when I had them in. I had problems mounting them in my doors as the tweeter piece was sticking out hitting the plastic trim and wouldn't allow the door panel to go on all the way. I found out after i removed them and gave them to a friend, I have to make my own bracket for the speakers to sit in since my car's stock speakers are molded to the bracket. I replaced them back with the stock speakers.

While I had them in the doors, they sounded crisp and loud. I didn't get any distortion coming from these speakers, i did not have them amped. The bass was great as well with the high end.

great sounding speakers

They are hooked up to a JVC DVD/CD/MP3 player and sound great with movies and music but they probable need a small amp to get full potential and decibals.

Solid Performance

The only complaint I had at first is that they didn't perform too well in the doors with all the free air space, bass was fluttery and highs were harsh. As soon as I put them in a custom kick-panel the bass was clean and tight, and I set the tweeter crossover for -3db. They sound fantastic.
As for the design, the materials and craftsmanship seem good. The cone is properly glued to the chassis (which I've had problems with JL and MB Quart coming apart) and the chassis itself is pretty beefy.

In the box you're supplied with a mounting bracket that allows the speakers to fit most, if not all, factory 6.5 locations. Don't bother with the supplied wiring whatsoever if you plan on using an external amp, get yourself some nice 12-14 gauge wire.

If you're strapped for space, consider the 63.9is model, (s) standing for shallow. For the price, its hard to beat.

Very Good

These speakers are very good and they have very clear sound. I like the fact that they included adapters because I have a peugeot 207 which is a french car and they helped me mount my speakers perfectly

Infinity never disapoints

Very good overall sound quality and clarity. If you listen to any kind of metal these speakers do a wonderful job of recreating the sound from the drums especially the toms. The only negative I have about these is they try to play too low. Even crossed over they still seem to play lower than they should.

I installed them on my Harley FLHT. At 70 mph I can fire them up and they are loud and clear. So far they have preformed flawlessly.

Infinity 63.9i 5/5

Wow! 5/5 Stars. That is how I would describe this product. I have had the speakers 6 months now and they are still booming! These speakers can go so loud so clearly. No distortion from what I have heard. I have 2 pairs of these running on a Boston Acoustic GTA-704. 70 watts RMS each and they are pummeling. They have surprisingly good bass, too. If you want crystal clear, loud music, I definitely recommend these speakers. If you want your ears to bleed, buy them!

Good Sound

I am going to give these speakers a 5 across the board. Installed these in the front doors of my sons 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer yesterday. The back doors are pushing the Infinity Kappa 2 way speakers. All four door speakers are being pushed by the Pioneer GM-A6604. As far as sound goes, these speakers can handle a lot of power with little to no distortion. You will get distortion at very high volume levels yet with enough power that will happen to any speaker. Good bass for a 6.5 inch speaker and mids and highs are clear and crisp. Installation was fairly easy, had to modify the existing factory speaker housing so these speakers could be used.
Overall good product for the cost!

Hands down the best 3 way 6.5" speakers i have owned!

These Kappa speakers are the best you can get if space is limited in your front doors and you are looking for a great 3 way sound stage. It is extremely crisp and has enough low end to pound! It is really SQ speakers that rivals anything else I had prior in my front doors ( ie: Pioneer , RF). Extremely detailed, dynamic, punchy and full. If you need to dial back on the highs you can set the speakers to -3 db with a flick of a switch built in. They can get LOUD! Pair these with a high quality amplifier and prepared to be amazed!
