I love my jbl speaker great bass nice punch

I purchased two Jbl speakers because my car lacked the full bass response I wanted. I mounted them in a ported box and now my sound is fabulous great strong base and ice punch you can feel the music using a cerwin vega Vbass amp makes the system sound awesome.

Need a little break-in time...

Ended up using 3 in a 2.2 cuft box ported to 30 hz. Easily pulling 140+ SPL on GTO1001EZ at 2.67 ohms.

High sensitivity allows this. Very light and responsive cone. Can hear distortion on them (after break in).

Had to run hard a few days before they let go of that hard 'slapping' sound - typical of new stiff materials.

Durability remains to be seen, however - have not smelled any hot adhesives or ozone yet!

Clean, transparent sub

I just picked one up yesterday, and I have 800w @ 2ohm (maybe 75% efficiency) going to the single sub. It\'s taking it no problem. It\'s so smooth, hits the notes fast and clean and blends extremely well with the front soundstage. I will play with it a little more before deciding if it can handle the current I have daily, but so far I\'m pretty impressed with the SQ.

ok

he sound clarity is way better than my last. I am sending around 80 Watts at 8 Ohms to it, due to having dual voice coils. Sounds good and hits hard

Great sub!! Worth The Small Cost

This is a great sub. The sound clarity is way better than my last. I am sending around 80 Watts at 8 Ohms to it, due to having dual voice coils. Sounds good and hits hard. Going to buy a second and wire them up at 2 Ohms.

Good sub!

I looked for months to find a sub to pair with my NVX JAD900.5 so I bought the JBL sealed box combo! On paper it looked like the best sub in it's price range... My 16 yr old fell in love with it so he has it now and is thinking of 2 more to go with a NVX JAD1200.1! This is the best JBL sub ever! Thanks Sonic for the great product at a wonderful price!!!

Sound great, albeit inefficient

They sound great, but aren't very efficient. Very stiff cone, may loosen over time. I don't believe the 92dB claim. Make sure you drive them with a monster amp to get some volume out of them. My recommendation is to spend a little extra cash to get the JBL paper/kevlar-coned pro series. A lighter cone may be more efficient.

...

I bought one of these on eBay brand new. It was defective. One of the voice coils was toast and threw my amp into protect mode. Other than that, this is one of the most impressive looking subwoofers I've ever seen. It's very beefy and makes the heavy duty Infinity reference 1060 look like a woman's sub.

Kawabunga Dude!

I really like this sub. It met all my requirements for my small cabin vehicle. I would not recommended this sub for a large car though, and it needs at least 250RMS powering it. If i get another i will buy this sub again, but this time will power 300+ RMS into it.

NICE, Good Quality

Have three of these in my trunk in a band pass enclosure running 425watts a piece off of three JBL GTO7001 Amps and it's too much sound for me even at half level!

The sub's can differentiate between different levels and types of bass vary well, and are very clear

single 10 in jeep grand cherokee

Recently I upgraded the door speakers in the 2000 jeep grand cherokee with 6.5 kickers (ODSC65). Each handles 60 watt RMS. I am driving them with an SSL EV4.1000. Adjusted the speakers are getting about 110watt RMS. Sub is in enclosed .77 cu ft box powered bu R500XD.1.

The 6.5" speakers sound good but lack any depth that I am accustomed to having in a vehicle. I came from a Honda Civic that had two (2) 12" Power Acoustik Fubr 12w subwoofers powered but Hifonics HFi2000D. (do not doubt the 3.5 year old subwoofers, they were amazing and outlasted / outsounded kicker, jbl, infinity, jl subwoofers for the same price. simply put they were amazing subwoofers. my biggest regret with any stereo system setup was giving up those subwoofers.)

Fast forward to today and I included this subwoofer with a single (1) Rockford Fosgate R500XD1. After a break in period of a month, average driving of 5 hours per week, the sub began to sound good with volume.

The AMP came with a birth cert of 624watt RMS from the factory. Following the break in period the volume of the AMP was turned to 3/4 full volume.

Post break in period the sub performed as expected. A single 10" subwoofer able to shake rear view and side view mirrors. Rear was close to useless and sides were heavily distorted.

All said and done, for the same cabin volume the sub volume is roughly about 1/4. It shakes the rear view and side view mirrors. It provides good depth in sound for the volume. The balance with the cabin speakers is well matched.

I would recommend this sub for purchase. Dollar to sound this is a good buy. I recommend this with high confidence.

Good sub!

This sub works great in a vented enclosure, which it is best suited for. I have one in a 1.5 ft3 enclosure tuned to 28hz. It has a very linear response, and is very musical as well. Plays any genre of music accurately ( I listen to everything from jazz to rap to metal to dubstep), and with great presence.
I can hear every note on a string bass, feel every double kick on a bass drum, and can make my mirrors useless with deep bass drops.

I did a fair amount of research before choosing this sub, and I am very satisfied with my choice. I don't think you could do much better for the price point.

Sonic was great on the price and fast with the shipping.

I hot 2 of these wired down to 1 ohm off of a hifonics brx2400.1 the first week or so when I had it on full tilt they would start smelling so I would turn it down now that doesn't happen anymore n damn do they get loud they sound amazing they like the highs more then lows or its just my subsonic filter needs tuning but for a low budget woofer you can't go wrong
