Vented 11.3cft, 320L Sono tube

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

Testing my first sonotube build on a budget for home theater. Tried the first 9 minutes of Star trek, ITD. Testing with a condenser mic it recorded .8 % of the time between 16 to 27Hz. The box was tuned to 20Hz. Infrasonic filter set to 13Hz so the cone would not surpass it's excursion. It still picked up Hz from 8 to 15. I got in trouble for playing this in my apartment. Lot of audio people say you can't use a car sub for HT. JBL has published data on the specs that is very important to the decision to purchase this sub. Before you buy a sub model it with WinISD and compare. This one comes out on top for the price and performance. The appearance and quality of the sub is excellent.

Great subwoofer

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I have had this sub for about 8 months and have had no problems at all. When i bought it it was only like $130 but now its $199. For what i paid it cant be beat. I also have 2 Memphis PR 15's and this JBL has much better sound quality. But for $200 i would probably buy a Type R. This sub is great though dont get me wrong. I have it in a ported Sonic sub box from this website as well. If it had a bigger box it would sound much better in my opinion.

Also i had about 400 watts going to it with my old amp and i knew it could take more so when i got my new amp i had it hooked up by its self getting about 700-800 watts and it took it well but it was definatly maxing out but no distortion. Great sub JBL

Best Bang for the buck...

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

It has been over a month since the install. They are just now breaking. I use 2 of them in a sealed (1.5 cubic ft per chamber) box. Matched the subs with JBL GTO 700.1 @ 2ohm. Gain is about 3/4 and bass boost less than half way. My ears hurt. They hit so hard the whole car(02 Accord 4dr) shakes so much. I get the great lows which i really wanted. I would recommend this subs to anyone. I do not have any cons so far. I will update my review in 6 months or so.

I love this sub

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I have had mine for about 2 months now. At first i received the singe voice coil version by mistake but i was able to ship it back fast and no cost to me (thanks sonic!)

But anyway, i running 450 rms to it and i think it could handle at least 500. But even though i have it wired to 2 ohms i measured it with my multi-meter and its reading about 2.8. I know its not going to be exactly 2 ohms but 2.8 seems a bit high to me so im not possitive its getting a full 450 watts rms. But for what it is getting it sounds pretty darn good. My amp is what is limiting it because it clips but im getting a new amp soon so it should be alot louder! I got this on sale but i think it is worth the regular price.
I also have it in the ported Sonic box and although i think it needs to be bigger for better lows, it sounds pretty good.

Early bird gets the worm.

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

First off. It says JBL right on the dust cap. It's beautiful and massive. I want to give a good review. But I don't have cons. It sounds deep rattles everything that gets in it's way and is not gonna cr*p out anytime soon. Runnin it on a 900 watt pioneer amp and it isn't a power hungry beast. Well my lights dim very badly but it is a fifteen. If you don't love bass please get the 12 of this series. This is for bass heads only.

Very Impressed

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I recently purchased two of these woofers for use in a small room EDM application. I mounted them in single 1.5 cu. ft. boxes and am running them in series at 8 ohms and have 800 watts of power going to each one. They pound the walls roof and floor quite well. I couldn't imagine how nice they would sound in a car? One would be sufficient, two would probably foam bile up your throat if you where driving a sub compact car! Just make sure you look for the RMS wattage on your amp and don't skimp on power!!!

HOme speaker

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

These speakers worked great for our in-home system. We did not want anything that would be too loud and these were perfect. Installation was very easy.

Big Bang For The Buck!

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I installed my new 15" JBL's in my suburban and can't believe how good they sound on just a 500 watt amp! I can put a lighter out sitting in my front seat and not even turned up halfway. Best deal I've ever found for hard hitting subs.

JBL 15"

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I purchased two of these JBL 15"s over a month ago and when I first bought them I was worried they wouldn't hit as hard as I would like them to. With buying brand new speakers you have to give them time to break in or losen up if you will. I also purchased a 5000 watt planet audio amp. It's only been a month and I'm still tuning my system. Long story short 5000 watts on two of these bad boys shakes other cars at red lights & my amp isn't even half way turned up. If your looking for a lot of slam in your vehicle I recommend buying two of these and matching the wattage. 5000 watts is plenty but remember! You tune them at your own risk.they take some time to break in. All in all. Great buy! I highly recommend these speakers! Thanks sonic electronix!

Crisp and Clean

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

These subs are amazing for the price. I purchased both for under $200.00 and it has been so well worth it. They are very accurate for a 15" subwoofer and the deeper the bass goes, the richer it sounds. I'm a bass head from the 80s and 90s so I take it back often and these subs play the music from those decades superbly.

I really don't have any cons other than me being petty... I prefer the inverted dust cover look but even with that, it looks rugged as constructed. I have been impressed since I installed them otherwise. I used a prefab sealed enclosure that I got from a buddy and changed the front mounting plate from 5/8" to 3/4" MDF. It's slightly larger than the recommended 1.75 cu^ft at 2.03 cu^ft. I also resealed it to ensure there were no leaks and THESE SUBS A MONSTER!!! You definitely know they're not competition subs but for $200.00, I'd bet they'll perform, at a minimum, as good or better than any other budget subwoofer on the market. 350w RMS is all you need to make them move and I tried a Pioneer GM-D9601 and an older Rockford Fosgate R1200-1D and both keep the subs pounding hard. I prefer the RF over the Pioneer because they seem to hit just a little more solid and carry the rich deep bass tones a little smoother and louder. I'm also going to get an AudioPipe APCL-18001D just because I'm impressed by the dyno vids on YouTube. This amp is very similar to the 1514D's in that it's underrated for the amount of $$$ you can obtain it for. All in all, buy these subwoofers without hesitation unless you're competing.

*UPDATE: More Results*

The following review is for GTO1514D, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I apologize for taking up the extra space to post my *UPDATE* but I don't know if editing a previous post is possible on this website. In the automobile industry, I've often heard that there's no replacement for displacement. I tend to believe that for the most part and leaving room for the exceptions to that rule. My results are like a gradual progression in displacement; from 4 cylinder turbo to V6 Twin Turbo to V8 Supercharged MONSTA!

4 cylinder turbo - My initial sub setup was the sealed roughly 2 cu^ft enclosure I spoke of in my first post. It had excellent sound quality and very rich bass notes. What it lacked was those deeper freq's along with volume.

V6 twin turbo - I'd had a pair of Hollywood Sound Labs 12" DVC subs in an "Isobaric Single Reflex Bandpass Enclosure" (try saying that 10 times real fast) from 1992 until they were stolen in 1997. I remembered how low it sounded and it was very loud (to me) so I built a similar enclosure using my GTO1514Ds; 1.6 cu^ft sealed chamber with 3.5 cu^ft on the ported side and a 4" round port (simple and easy). The result? Much deeper bass with a considerable gain in volume at those lower freq's but being an "ole skool" basshead, I wanted just a little bit more volume. My first thought was to get different brand of subs like Dayton Audio's Ultimax UM15-22 dual 2 ohm subs or a pair of Sundown Audio SA-15s. My pockets aren't deep so much research persuaded me to try a simple ported enclosure. I'd had ZERO experience with one until my next venture.

Supercharged V8 MONSTA!!! - I built a 7.4 cu^ft ported enclosure with a 4" round port (simple and easy). There's no "divider" but I did use some 1X1X36 plywood studs to brace it. Talk about a difference maker... BANG, BOOM, DROP BOTTOM, HIT, SLAM... Insert whatever colloquialism (slang) term of your choosing and they do it! I've got the bottom end I was looking for and it is LOUD! I may rebuild it later and incorporate a slotted vent/port as opposed to the round port that's in it now but only for aesthetics.

For $195.00 with the special Sonic Electronix is running on these subs, this is a steal in my book! Since I'm an "ole skool basshead," I'm taking it back to my high school days with 2 Live Crew, Run DMC, Robert Plant, Beastie Boys, Information Society, etc, all of which are setting off car alarms and pissing off traffic every now and then. You won't go wrong with these unless you're in serious competitions or you simply want to lose your hearing soon. Great subs at an unbelievable price. Buy with confidence and satisfaction.
