mids, highs
Great materials and accessories for this price, speakers can produce great mids and highs but they really need a subwoofer to complete all ranges because cant produce a rich bass, however great for this price.

Meh
I'm pretty disappointed with these speakers, even for their price. The high frequencies are always too harsh and bright, even at the -6db setting. They are advertised as mylar-titanium composite, but in reality they seem to be mylar with a titanium paint coating, which doesn't do much. The soldered wires on the tweeters break easily and are a pain to fix. The crossovers are really just filters in a box instead of inline. And the woofers handle bass so poorly it would be hilarious if it weren't so depressing to hear.
That said the midrange is fairly decent, and they do produce a big soundstage. If you block pretty much all bass going to them they will get loud as well. Overall I can't say I'd recommend them, even at the price, unless you want a lot of harsh treble, no bass or even midbass to speak off, and want all that at high volumes. I'm replacing them with a set of Massive Audio components and hoping for some better results.

Way way more than I expected!
First I want to say I am very very pleased with these speakers. My main priority in a component speaker were the tweeters not being too bright. Most component crossover tweeter settings are 0, -2, -4 db. These are 0, -6 db so I said let me give them a try. I own a 2006 Honda Ridgeline. I added Dynamat Xtreme to my doors. Installed these and set the tweeter to -6db. I'm giving them 70 watts RMS @ 2ohms from an Eclispe EA4200. Absolutely amazing. The tweeters are not bright but what blows me away is the mid bass punch. Cover every hole possible with the dynamat and give these babies 70 watts and the mid bass punch will be there. They also will play very very loud without distortion. I love them!

JBL GTO 608C
this two piece speaker system works well. it is solid in construction and sound. I have the tweeter mounted high and they are bright in sound, crisp and not ringing. The bass and mids are tight and efficient. I used them on a stock Chevy 2011 Silverado cd player and they make such a difference that I am not changing the head unit...PS, I have dennon and B&W at home, so if the sound wasn't good, I would change in a heartbeat

Very sensitive, good bass, included x-over does not have a coil only a cap and resistors, this driver rolls over smoothly enough to not need it.

Great Fidelity and Clarity
Don't let the looks of this system fool you, the sound quality produced by this component set is excellent. The mids and highs are crystal clear, not overwhelming. I would definitely recommend purchasing these speakers, I was a little skeptical at first, I couldn't find any reviews and never known anyone with JBLs; however, I took the chance and do not regret it. I have owned MB Quartz and Dyneaudio in the past years, both of which I was please with, but I wanted to try something new and wanted to stay within budget. Don't hesitate, buy these speakers!!

I Enjoy Them
I just installed these speakers today. I'm pretty new to the game and I paid $200 for them, which I think is very salty. They sound great, and everything I have is completely stock otherwise. (2006 Monte Carlo SS) They do sound slightly distorted if you crank up the bass, but then again they're not bass speakers. Once I'm done with the entire build I know they're gonna sound better, but for now I love them as is, just wish the price was lower.

Tweeters not so hot, but may be my fault.
At first I got a lot of distortion from these, I thought that was a combination of installing with adapters (factory were... small, 2002 Subaru Impreza) and the fact that I bought a cut rate POS 5 channel amp. I recently replaced the amp with a pair of JBL amps and wallah! Amazing difference. The tweeters are still fairly muted at low volumes, but at higher volumes I get MUCH better results. Unfortunately I don't feel like listening to my music at deafening levels all the time.

JBL GTO608C
These are great speakers for the price that I paid for them..I put them in my 2006 chevy silverado and connected them to a rockford fosgate amp. They sound great at high volume with no distortion on vocals or mids. The only bad thing that ive encountered with these speakers is that the JBL cover is big and bulky and will not fit on my door panel. Overall JBL makes awesome vocal speakers and subwoofers.

not a bad swap for stock speakers
Silverados speakers finally gave up. Wished I changed them sooner. Good full range. Have older Pioneer head unit and man what a difference. Still need a sub for lows. Still good bang for the buck.

Awesome speakers
All I can say is buy these now! I've had quite a few different speakers in my day and these are my favorite so far. I had to put in a review. The tweeters are amazing off a Kenwood bt562u deck which I recommend also. Tweeters are loud crisp clear and not harsh. Mids are tight and clear.don't think you can beat these for the money. Cant wait to get my fosgate r300x4 amp on them for 75x4 they will scream.

Extreme BANG for the buck
With or without an amp, these sound great. Comes with enough stuff to mount the tweeters in any position. Awesome deal!

Good Component Speakers
Well built mid-level component speakers. Perfect fit for my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. I had to do a little modification for the tweeters to fit in my “tombstones” on the dash. I did not use the bypasses and stock with the stock wiring set-up in my JK. My sound up front is clear and more rich.

These 6.5 have some serious clean mids!
I only used the 6.5's didn't run the tweeters, all ready have enough tweeters in my project. And these sound clean and punchy.

So far so good.
I haven't had them that long but so far they sound pretty good. Don't know how they will hold up as of yet. Decent speaker for the money.

Great buy!
Speakers look and sound great. Tweeters sound awesome, crisp and clear. My Toyota Tundra stock stereo is actually pretty powerful for what it is; I've already gone through all my stock speakers, 2- 6x9 Pioneers, 2- 4" Alphasonics, and so far this is the best setup I've experimented with. No distortion at volume level 60. Very impressed by the quality. JBL has restored my faith in JBL.

Great Mids and Highs
It's simple... Put an amplifier on these, period. You can't really put these in and expect that most factory head units are going to make them sound good. They need power. Second, use some sound deadening around the mounting hole at minimum and make sure they seal to the surface when mounted.
I have these in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the front doors with generic Dynamat on and around the mounting hole. The mid woofer is mounted tight against the material. I am running these at 75w rms at 2ohms stereo. Mid bass? Yes and bass guitar sounds articulate and punchy. Mids? Yes, male and female vocals are pronounced and clear. Highs? Yes and very crisp. EQ these components and power them with an amp... mine are paired with a 12" Rockford Fosgate at 2ohms and the blend is great.
For those reviews that say they have no mid bass, ignore them. They have a bunch of mid bass when you take the time and install them correctly and feed them amplifier power. Between 50hz and 100hz I have no problem FEELING the bass and mid bass from them. They are not subwoofers they are mid woofers. Highs can be harsh... Just EQ them.

JBL GTO608C
I am totally impressed with this product; the sound quality is really top notch. My only qualm was that there were no speaker connectors for the main speakers...

Good quality
Good quality sound, decent mid bass, not deep though. Haven't installed the tweeters yet. Installed on a BMW 325i non Karmon audio good replacement for factory speaker being 2 ohm. I am very satisfied with the sound. I used the included mount plates in the back, but had to shave them down to make fit. I could've dome the same in the front, but I cut the mounting bracket off the original speakers in the front.

Great price! Love the sound in my 4Runner!
Bought these components to replace the ones in my front doors on my 2003 4Runner. I removed the factory JBL system as many speakers were blown. I ran new wire to all my speakers and powered these components, along with a pair of coax Infinity Reference in the back doors, with the Alpine KTP-445u power pack. All this is being controlled with a Kenwood DDX374BT head unit. The components are great. I modified my factory tweeter mounts and used some of the included mounting hardware to keep the JBL tweeters in place. I was able to fit the crossover in the door panel in the negative space of the door armrest. The sound is crisp and clean. I listen to a wide variety of music from jazz to rock to rap. I feel like these provide a great all around sound at a very cheap price. I do think they sound 100% better with amplification other than a head unit. I went with the power pack because I could just stick it in the dash and save myself space and time with the install. These components could handle even more power because I'm nowhere near any distortion.

Good value and Better than OEM Speakers.
My OEM speakers on 2002 Sienna were blew out. They were made also by JBL. The 608 speakers were so close to the OEM ones that there was no modification needed. The job only took about 30 minutes. The sound was good in pairing with the OEM sound system. The price from Sonic was excellent. I recommend them!

Great Buy
These things are nice for the $$. Bass is what you'd expect from 6.5s, not thunderous but punchy. Tweeters are a little bright at 0db, at -3db they're perfect and come with tons of mounting options. First time dealing with JBL in the car audio realm and was very pleased with the experience, would buy again.

Good sound
You can't beat these for their price. Great sound, decent bass. Came with attachments for many mounting options and the speakers seem very well made. I installed these in a mazda 3 and it was a huge improvement over the factory settings up. I will be buying a set for the rear.

Good aftermarket speakers
I bought these JBL speakers to replace my car's factory speakers. They are a good replacement for your oem speakers, but I agree that they are too bright. You have to install the passive crossovers for the -6db reduction on the tweeters. They sound great afterwards. They have a nice bass punch, too, but you might still want a sub.

Know what you are doing...
I Have these in the front doors of a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have the tweeter mounted directly above the speaker grill in each door and they are pivot mounted up to my ears. First, know what you are doing. Components are meant to be used WITH a sub-woofer. Most factory speakers are not which is why factory speakers get decent bass. Use sound deadener where you mount the mid-range speaker. Make sure the speaker, when it is mounted, is flush with no gaps and lastly, for craps sake... feed it the power it needs!
I am running 75w rms at 2ohms to each component set which are mounted flush in the doors with sound deadening and the proper size speaker wire and I am running a sub-woofer. I have them crossed over at 50hz with a 12db slope at my head unit (Kenwood Excelon). My subwoofer is crossed over at 80hz so sine sweeps blend well between the sub-woofer and the mid-woofer.
These speakers DO get good mid to low bass. Bass you can feel. It's not sub-woofer loud bass but they are not sub-woofers. Bass guitar is punchy and audible, lower vocals and piano sound good as well. The tweeters are bright and crisp when EQ'd to deal with the harshness of running them at 0db on the crossovers. Try them at -6db first for sure. These speakers being 2ohms will draw more power from your amplifier and yes, use an amplifier to push these, so make sure your amplifier is 2ohm stable. These reviews that paint these speakers as less than good or having no bass are not based on these speakers being used correctly or pushed with the correct amplifier power.
I would recommend these components for sure. They are loud and clean sounding with the output being mid-range focused but they respond very well to being EQ'd. My one and only gripe is literally the flush mount tweeter option. It is very hard to lock the tweeter in the mounting cup and in fact mine are still not locked in but they stay put.
- Use an amp rated for their 2ohm rms power at minimum
- Use sound deadening on the door where you mount the mid
- Use with a sub-woofer

Buy these speakers
These speakers have excellent clarity, a vast improvement over my stock bose speakers. I am going to connect them to my four channel hiphonics amp later this week. I will update my review when it is all done but so far so good.

Good for systems with subs
These speakers are really good, they just have no bass at all. If your system has subs these would go great as to not compete with the subs.

Absolute Great Product
To start off I replaced my factory speakers in my 04 Dodge Dakota with these aftermarket JBL's. I went ahead and put 2 sets of them in. I can say without a doubt that these speakers maybe the truck sound a lot better. I am running these off of a Pioneer Headunit. I listen to all types of music in my truck and these speakers go very well with everything I throw at them. They have very little distortion even while they are playing very loud and clear. I have yet to have a problem with these speakers and doubt I ever will. Great quality for the price. I Will recommend them to anyone.
