I dont't get what all the hype is about JL ! ! !

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

SQ sound quality subwoofer made. This makes me laugh as I have competed since 1994 and if this is sound quality then im Santa Clause! I have had the 13W6 and the 13W7 and have to say that I have found many better subs for way less. I switched to the RE Audio XXX and am much happier and payed less than my W7. I feel JL is just living off the reputation they built as the subs have not changed in about 7 years. 500 to 1100 dollars for these subs is robbery but if you just have to have JL then have at it.

wow

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I have 3 of these subs in my yukon running on a rf bd1500 1 at .75 ohms. Each sub is getting a lil over 2100 watts absolutely clean and loud. there is a reason JL has not changed theses subs in 10 years there is no need i play at full volume all the time an for the first time in 6 years i blew one. 365$ to jl and i get re-coned back in business all i can say is this sub is the best sub ive ever heard. There are alot of other subs out there that claim to be louder an most of them are 18's an need 6000 watts. I promise 3 jls running on 2000 watts each is gonna be louder then any 18.

These subs are beasts they are probably the loudest and best sounding sub for the money. they have a well rounded range of bass and the clarity of it is amazing.

damn fine sounding sub

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

This sub is pricey, but is extremely loud and sounds good too. Paired with a spec vented enclosure, this thing rocks any type of music. A single 13w7 with a true 1000 watts rms will make your windows flex and I still don't have mine set up properly yet nor is it even broken in. Expensive, but well worth it. It's money you won't regret spending. Gave 4 stars for value because of price, and 4 stars for features and ease of use because of the odd dual 1.5 ohm voice coils.

13W7 review

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I purchased a 13W7 and a ported box tuned to jl specs and this one sub hits very hard! In a 01 civic the 13 hits pretty tight when needed and super low and very deep. The sound quality is pretty remarkable! I'm running a JL 1000 on it and it loves it. I previously was running two MTX thunder 12 7500's and this one sub destroys them on the same amp. However on some music I still miss the MTX's sound. The only real drawback to the 13w7 would be the weight in a good box is close to 100 pounds, I would recommend a high output alternator and a XS Power battery and 1 gauge wire to maximize the full potential.

Awesome

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

This is one of the best subwoofers ive ever heard. I have one hooked up in my car with a 1000/1v2 and it bangs hard! ive never heard anything like it. The only down side is they are a little spendy and are really heavy. But are definatly worth the money. If you can get your hands on one of these, they sound great and bump hard. Plus it will make everyone in your neighborhood jealous.

This Speaker Knocks Hard

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I have this thing in a custom 13w7 box in the back of my Toyota Land Cruiser, and it is ridiculous!!! That truck has a lot of air space inside, and that speaker fills it up and then some. It's just small enough to keep up with the double bass drums in metal (and it sounds like a machine gun), but so deep that it sounds like an earthquake from down the street when I'm listening to rap or whatever thumps. I would buy another but I dont want to go deaf and shatter my windows.

W7 Rocks

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

This is my second review of this sub. I now have it "broken in" and have switched up my amp to a JL 1000/1 amp from an Alpine PDX1.1000. There is a noticeable difference, but not a drastic difference. The difference is only in the fact that the JL amp maintains its 1000 watts over a range of voltage(from 11.6 to 14.4) whereas the Alpine amp puts out its 1000 watts at 14.4 volts and starts to drop as your voltage drains(which it will unless you have multiple batteries AND a cap). I have come to the conclusion that JL has a wicked good marketing department, and is very much like Apple Inc. They both charge TOP dollar for their products, which are top notch, but you can find a comparable product for a fraction of the price. In hindsight, if I had the room, I would have gotten an RE Audio XXX15 or a Skar Audio TXL15 for less money and had extra cash to beef up my electrical system more(Mechman Alternator, 3rd Battery). But, I didn't have the room for the box requirements for the RE or Skar subs. That being said, it still amazes me of the output of this 13w7 in only 2.375 ft3 vented. There is no other sub that can come close to the output of the 13w7 AND do it in less than 2 and half cubes. If your looking for extreme output and have limited space, then this is most definitely the best choice out there, but if you have the room for 5 or 6 cubes of sub box, I would go with the Skar TXL18 for half the money, twice the power handling and more output. But, that is comparing an 18" competition woofer to a 13.5"(more like 15" because of the way the surround goes all the way to the edge of the frame, instead of having a visible frame using up what could have been another inch of cone area). So, with that said, to the people that say"I wish JL made a 15w7", they pretty much are a 15" woofer. After using this sub and after having owned two 10w3v3's and using countless other brands of subs, this one is one of the most musical sounding I have ever used. It hits lows effortlessly and doesn't sound like a "giant bass hum or buzz" as a lot of other woofers sound. Plays music with authority and accuracy. I would recommend this sub to anyone looking for extreme output with a moderate sized enclosure(vented) and SMALL enclosure(sealed). I just wish JL would come down on their price a little. If this sub was in the $500-$700 range, I would have 2 of them in a sealed enclosure and still be at only 3.6 ft3 total box volume. To sum this up, great sub. Works awesome in Small enclosure sizes. A bit overpriced.

Awesome W7s

Review by cheif from Moose Jaw, SK, Canada---you mentioned that the Alpine type r will outdo the W7, well I have owned the type r's and the type x, and let me tell you they don't even come close to either the sound quality or spl. Alpine type x is the top of the line and it does not compare, not even close to the W7, so how can the type r be any better, it's lower grade. IF YOU WANT THE BEST THEN JLAUDIO W7'S IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!

Best sub made hands down. Had my friends car for a week with two of them in the car and I couldn't hear people after the volume half way up. Only problem money because ull need one 1000/1 amp to power one and you have to have custom box. But if you have the money well worth it.

Quad box

I put 4 of these in a sealed quad box and it hit good. I had 2 MTX T9515-04 in a custom vented box tuned at 38.38 hz and the MTX subs had that insane bass and beat the sealed on low end shaking. For the recommended sealed enclosure JL specs, the sealed box sounds good when it hits 30 Hz, but the bass sounds funny when higher notes are hit, it makes you worry if the voice coil will be damaged. I'd never buy JL Audio subs again. Their components and HD amps are phenomenal though.

jl is awesome

I was in sound advice the other day when i put on two 13W6V2's in a sealed box and then just for fun I put on a single 13W7 and it hit so much harder and lower than the two 13W6V2's and the were running the same JL 1000/1 amp and they were both in sealed boxe's and i could not believe there would be such a differace but there was so before you go with Audiobahn who makes some of the worst sounding speakers i would look at these
or any JL's for that fact, hope i could help

Really Amazing

I was in a car audio shop, and just for fun I asked them if I could hear 2-12" w6v2's and some other model 12's, then he put on one 13.5" w7... WOW. Very deep bass even at low volumes, it by far is better (in every way) than any 2-12's I've heard. My brother had 2-15" W3's with a JL 1000 watt amp to them... still the W7 is easily louder, deeper and more clear. If you have the money, you won't be dissappointed. * EDITED FOR CONTENT *

Wicked Sub

Best sound quality sub hands down. Only competition for the same price range would be the RF T2 15 inch which is a bit louder but not the same quality. Put this sub in a doubled up 2 inch mdf box sounds nice.

the price for this sub is just too much money for the amount of power it puts out. my friends type r cost half the price of this, and matched it in every sound possible. the recommended sub for this price range on sonic electronix would be the Orion HCCA 12.2 woofer. it'll put this sub 6 feet under.

Awesome subs don't understand the negitive reviews

I currently have a JL w7 13.5 love it and have had DD,FI,AQ/SQ,Alpine T-R and others and nothing sounds as good or clean as the JL. Sure it cost a bit but you get what you pay for and more then anything have a good custom box make for optimum performance. This one sub is louder and moves more air then 2 FI BL 12s or a FL BL 18 I had. As for SPL come on people JL is known for quality/sound quality not a SPL/burp sub, though they can get very loud but also sound good doing it once again depends on the box. If you can't or know how to build a proper box stick to JL specs. Mine in in a 4th order bandpass and goes from 30Hz at the -3db F3 point to 90Hz and has a sensitivity rating of +17db is all about the box.

I love this sub it looks awesome and sounds even better. not only is it loud but its sq is so d*** nice. I had mine ona 1000/1 v2 and it slapped the s*** out of my 83 eldorado. Only cons is the 1.5 ohm load and the fact that its way over priced for a sub in this RMS range. Way better subs for cheaper than this

A Hard Hitter But Over Rated

No Doubt This Is A Good Sub But Over Rated & Too Pricey. I Own 2 Of These, Yes They Do Hit Hard But Just Too Overpriced. For The Money You Spend On These From JL Audio You Might As Well Go To Some Of These Other Well Known Competition Car Audio Companies Like - Fi Car Audio, DC Audio, RD Audio, Digital Designs, RE Audio & Get Some Subs For Less Or Same Price That Will Hit So Much Harder Than These & Out Play Them & Even Last Longer. But Overall This Is A Great Sub Though I Just Think JL Audio Needs To Lower Their Prices.

Bringing the thun

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I gotta say if you are a sound quality guy or a spl guy this sub can do both depending on what enclosure you use. You want to get lows and have a wide frequency response put It in a small business x. If you want to crack your windshield put it in about 3.0 cubic foot tuned to 34hzt and whatch out. You don't even need two these things can destroy a car all by themselves. But if you want a 150db daily monster with superb sound quality at the same time get two and feed them with there own HD1200/1. I would absolutely recommend these for anyone wanting the best. Yes I know there are louder subs mostly huge 18's in giant 7 cubic foot boxs but you want find but a handful of subs that can sound this good and give this level of spl at the same time. This ant n one trick pony here boys. We had a guy here in Kentucky doing 151.3 with 12's on 2k. He said he was tired of people saying JL couldn't get just as loud as other brands. And all thes people saying you need battery's and Alta to run this you don't unless it's going in a old civic with a 60amp half dead alt. I run mine in a 2013 Dodge Avenger with stock 130amp alt 4 gauge ran back to a 1k watt capable batt and no big three. Never had a shut down and amp never gets over Luke warm. It's a HD1200/1 which is a perfect match for the 13w7.

JL 13w7

I recently installed a custom ported box and a 13 w7 in my 2015 peterbilt.
The amp is a power acoustic 3500d gothic on a new Kenwood bt head unit running 4 4x6's. I have never heard a sub so loud throughout a vehicle in my life. I listen to all genres of music off an ipod and any rap or house music with alot of bass I have to turn the sub controls down. The only problem I'm having is having to dynamat the entire sleeper because the rattling is almost as loud as the music. Very very impressed with the sub and the sound off a so so amp.

BEWARE,, 13w7, R Only Good in a JL Pro Wedge Sealed Box..... 100% the Truth

The W7- 8,10,12s can be in a Vented or Sealed box, Only the 13.5 has to be in Their Special Box that cost $300. WOW!!
Trust me, I've went thru 5 Diff. box's, till I broke down and bought a Pro Wedge Box, I've researched it for weeks.. JL even says it, FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE.. Because of the Special Baffles & Chambers that surround & support the Sub inside the box.. Help build up pressure for that DEEP INSANE BASS!! Unless you duplicate & copy it to the T. of a Pro Wedge Inside & out, ur NOT feeling the Full effect or Hitting as Hard as you should or Feeling that CRAZY W7 Deep Bass... I'm Hitting a 148bds wit just 1...
My cousin has 2-12W7's in the Pro Wedge box's in a small SUV... Man you cant sit in there.. He's Hitting 156dbs. wit a 3000Watt MA Audio D class Amp.. ALL THAT BASS FOR THE LITTLE SPACE... NO OTHER SUB CAN TOUCH IT..But for the $$$ part,, it should of been LESS!!

I have 2 of these JL13W7's in my Cadillac. I have 2 JL1000/1 going to each of the subs. Most of the time I don't use bass boost, and I keep my sub level at -6(the lowest) and you get a nice clean bass. If you add the bass boost and increase the sub level bass is still deep and clean. Spent a lot on my system but worth every single penny.

It's quite possibly the loudest... and most BA sounding sub ever. I love it! and BTW, if running sealed box... go about 2.5 - 3 ft^3, amazing difference.

Great sub with some minor issues

This sub is unreal. To think that one sub can hit this hard and still sound this good just blows me away. I am powering this with a Rockford Fosgate T10001.bd running the coils in series, so I'm putting about 800 watts to it. Now the bad part, When I ran it in parallel (1500 watts) the sub actually started clipping! What $600 sub starts clipping at that wattage?
If I run the sub at 800 watts there are no problems at all and it still hits extremely hard.

***Admin Note: The sub is not clipping, the amp is because it is running at .75 ohms which the amp is not stable at.***

What can I say.

I've never been more impressed by a subs output. this thing wangs like no other, and the SQ is still really good. If you can afford the sub, then get it. You will not be disapointeed.

Just make sure you have a monster of an amp to power this thing, cause its gonna need it. a JL1/1000, would do nice, especially because of this subs odd impedance loads. This is a bit pricey, but definately worth it.

Oh My God

This thing is a beast. Why would anyone who can afford one of these not get one. They are the ultimate sub. The main thing about the 13W7 is that it only runs on an RMS of 1000. All other subs must run on like 3000 to 5000 to match it. Eveyone else is to worried about what their subs look like and how their shaped (Kicker). They need to just stop where their at cause they dont even come close to JL. The only thing i didnt like about this sub is that i couldnt get a High Output box for it. Which wasnt even anything about the sub. Buy this if you can cause it is worth it. JL all the way.

Top notch, Badass!

The following review is for 13W7AE-D1.5, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I have been a life long car audio guy, my father had sound systems in all of his vehicles in the early '90s as a kid. I've been a JL audio guy since I started driving and this is by far one of the best subs I have heard period.

I have a 2014 rt challenger, I had 2 Jl audio 10w6's each wired to its own to jl xd600 amp. I have the 13w7ae wired to just one of these and it completely takes its pants off and shits on the 2 10w6's. When I first heard it I just bust out laughing because it was comical and ridiculously loud to be running on alone 600w RMS amp. It's in a 2.75 cubic ft ported "slam box" from life after bass, and it HAMMERS. I have an old JL Audio HD1200/1 amp I sent off to be refurbished and I can't wait to see what it can do when its really being pushed by a proper amp.

Randy In Lansing

I have a single 13W7 in my mazda 6 with a custom box built to JL Audio specs. I went with this sub because I wanted clean deep bass and didnt just want to look dumb shaking my car to crap. I replaced a Kicker 12' comp in a custom ported box and of course this JL 13w7 just blows it away but not only that sounds crazy good. I listen to all type of music so this sub was a great buy. Clearly they are not cheap and YES you can find a cheaper sub that bangs hard, but you cant find a cheaper sub that bangs this hard CLEAN... 1 13" is perfect for me and I think 2 would just been crazy. thanks for the great sub JL Audio

Purchased this over 10 years ago and still sounds amazing. The staff at sonic electronics did me right on this one. 10 outta 10, its pricey but you get more than what you pay for on this one. I plan on buying 2 more for my next build.
