Best Amp I've Owned

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

I have this amp hooked up to a 10w7. JL tends to be on the expensive side but you get what you pay for. My amp puts out close to 625 watts. You can't go wrong with this amp if you have the money.

Great Amp

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I have this amp running two 12w3v2-d4's and they sound amazing. Crisp and hard. I'm planning on getting the 10w7 in that tank prowedge enclosure though and can't wait to save some space and just get a w7. This amp is awesome and I really like the RBC-1 with it. If I ever have problems with it I will fix it or get a v2.

great amp...

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I had this amp hooked up to three 10's for about three years. It performed very well. The price on this amp may be a little high, but it is a very underrated amp. The features are great but can be a little confusing. If you want deep, clean bass, this is the amp I would recommend.

Best 500/1 amp money can buy.

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

A high end product, best amp on the market for 500/1. Jl Audio makes the best amps hands down. I own this and a 1000/1 amp. I have owned this amp for 2 months and never regret getting it. Thanks Jl

sick amp

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I used this amp to power my 2 jl 12w6v2's and even though i was under powering my subs it was loud as f***, as well as clear and deep. this amp is a f***** beast. my friend runs one 12 rockford fosgate off this amp as well and it POUNDS!.. this amp is worth every penny and you will be very happy with it

reliable

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I\'ve had this amp for about 5 yrs. I had it hooked up to 2 w3 10\'s (old model) and the back window of my trans am would flex a couple inches. I just recently hooked it up to a single w7 8\" the box replaced my center console. it sounds really good but its not near the bass of the 2 10\'s... having said that, I don\'t think you can kill one of these things. I would recommend jl products to anyone..

Excellent Sub Amp

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I have this amplifier hooked up to a 12W6 and I've never heard such musical bass. It's a great buy and has an endless array of controls for fine tuning the sub.

Worth the money.

Awesome JL power for sub!

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

After buying the JL 300/2 for my components and being 200% satisfied, I decided to power my Focal polyglass 27v2 with this amp. The amp is probably a bit more than the sub needs (300 nominal, 600 max), but I was tired of being shy on sub size and power. The match seems right on target, delivering as much bass as I need. This system is part of a total SQ system, matched with Focal KPs in the front, and JL XR650-cxi in the back. The sub sonic and other crossover controls allow for very specific tuning, and make it easy for the sub to fit right where you need it to. It's JL power with JL clean - at a great sonix price.

Lives up to it's name

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

If you arent looking for a "budget" system, this is the amp to power it. you get what you pay for with this thing. JL underrates every amp they make and this is no exception. Used to power my 10W7 and it slammed. 159.9 db's. Worth the money, would buy again.

Excellent Sub Amp

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

This amp is driving a single 10" Eclipse Sub and performs very well. Before this amp I had to turn the volume up to hear the sub but now I get a bass at all levels.

Great Amp

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

This is a great amplifier. I have had no problems and it has plenty of punch. I have this powering a single 10" W3v4 in my 05 F150 Super Crew and it is perfect. My sub never lacks power. It delivers a clean signal and takes whatever I throw at it.

Pros:
Plenty of power
Easy to use / install

Cons:
A bit bulky

Amazing amp!

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

I'm using this amp to power a JL 13TW5 and its amazing. The amp never gets warm, runs nice and cool and really fits the 13TW5 perfectly. As always, ordering from Sonic is a breeze, fast shipping and great service. The 500/1v2 is a great amp, if I had to list one complaint.... I wish I would'nt have waited so long to buy it.

Set up was easy. I downloaded a 50hz test tone from iTunes and used a digital multi-meter to properly adjust my gains. The instructions in the manual are very thorough and easy to follow. I also purchased the optional remote gain knob, very very helpful in adjusting the bass for individual songs. I also have a 300/4v2 powering my mids and highs. The design of the JL slash series amps allow them to be tightly butted up to each other, they give the appearance of one big amp on the back wall of my truck.

Tremendous Value/Great Product

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

Awesome value!! I have used other products such as kicker and alpine, but JL is simply the best. I have this hooked up to a JL 10 W6v2 and it sounds amazing. JL simply is the best and I will continue to be a JL customer. This amp makes my sub hit hard no matter what I listen to techno, rock or rap. I will be a life long JL and Sonic customer... great product

Amp it Up

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

Put this in a Yukon with the HO 112 W6 from JL. Installed myself to the factory head unit with several calls to JL Audio support. What a support line they have!!!!!!!! Did not need a signal converter due to the technology of the amp. This thing will rattle the windows and produces great sound quality. JL costs more that foreign made stuff but in this case you get what you pay for. I cannot imagine wanting more sound unless you want the next area code to hear you, the next zip code already can!

Really Good Amp

I have one of these on a 12 inch kicker L7 and it hits super hard. I ran this amp for almost 2 hours and barely heated up. If you want a good amp for the price i would suggest this amp

Awesome Amp!!!!

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

This is the 2nd 500/1 I've owned, and just like it's predecessor, the v1, this amp delivers. I barely even have it turned half the way up and it hurts me. Definitely recommend this amp to anyone in the market for a budget system. It may not be that good for SPL competitions, but paired with the right subs, you might have yourself a great placing!

JL 500/1 Thumbs up

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I bought this amp when I decided to have a decent system in my car....since then, it was all downhill.

The setting were so easy to follow and the sound was pretty good. The processing portion of this amp is pretty spot on as well. This was not the loudest amp I've owned, but it is one of the clearest one.

The first set of subs this powered was a band-pass set of two 12" alpine type "S", they did hit pretty hard and clear.

Music to my ears

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

This amp is a great bang for the buck. I was into car audio about 15 years ago and had 2 pro 12's and a 400w amp costing $1700 total. Now I have 1 JL Audio 12W3V3 sub and this 500/1V2 amp and it hits harder than the 2 12's from back in the day at less than 1/2 the price! Plus it doesn't distort, slap or seem to clip at high volumes. Just be sensible on the gain. It's very clean, tight bass. This is just one more step to my SQi setup. Very very happy with this JL amp. So many adjustments to choose from. A versatile amp with excellent sound quality. Runs barely warm to the touch. Don't know how long my old car will take the abuse this amp puts out. :)

amp worth every penny

The following review is for a previous version (500/1v2).

nothing but pros for this amp. its 500 rms, but a strong 500. so pick subs accordingly. i would recomend nothing less then 350 rms per sub, if your running 2. with an orray of settings, it may seem intimidating. but read up, dial in, and let your ear do the rest. this is by far the best amp ive ever owned.

Musical Bass

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

I've been rather disappointed with my Alpine Type R12 until I hooked it up to this JL Audio 500/1 amp. I've had it hooked up to a MTX at 250 watts and an MA Audio at 400 watts. This amp makes my sub sing, it sounds like music instead of just noise. Couldn't be happier, I'm sold on JL Audio technology

Great Amp

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

This amp has to be one of the best amps out there and SonicElectronix offers it at a great price. I had one powering a JL12W7 and it produced chest pounding heart stopping bass. The flexibility is also great. I recommend this to anyone who wants great bass from a sub requiring anywhere from 450 to 800 watts RMS.

Best AMP

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

By far best subwoofer amp on the market besides the Jl 1000/1. I have 2 JL W3 hooked up to it now and they are sickly loud, you can hear my car from about 10 streets. I used to have 1 W6 hooked up to it but wasnt loud enough so I sold it for 2 w3. My friend who has 2 Jl W3 like myself has the top of the line MTX amp hooked to them (he paid 500), and my JL amp blew them off the block. Even though the amp only says 500 RMS watts, making people wonder do not worry, JL truly rates the amps at the proper wattage even some times underrating them. I would say that the 500 Jl watts equals about 1200 watts from other name brands such as MTX, Audiobahn, Kenwood, ALpine, and Rockford. JL SUBS AND AMPS THE BEST AMPS AND SUBS YOU CAN GET PERIOD.

Ahead of the Curve

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

This amp is truly a breakthrough on many different levels. the R.I.P.S technology is an ingenius design that makes guesswork a thing of the past. I have this amp pushing two 10" rockford fosgate punch hx2's in a custom sealed enclosure of a 87 mustang gt convertible sending 500 watts to each sub(mono-blocks are capable of this)and the amp is not even turned up all the way...This amp never gets hot on me, and has lasted me two years with no decrease in performance at all...BUT...DONT! blast your stereo at full blast all the time just because somebody said that " It doesn't hurt it" or " They can take it"...All equipment has it's limitations..Before you spend a lot of many on high quality equipment. Do your research and know how to take care of your equipment to keep it running at it's peak potential for as long as possible.

Pretty good

The following review is for a previous version (500/1).

My friend used this amp in his BMW suv (opentrunk) and I loved how it it. It was powerful, but for the price he paid ($1000 for this amp and the W7) it wasn't worth the price. Maybe if he matched the RMS it would hit a little better, but o well. Good price though. I'm running 2 Alpine Type R's our of 2 mono kenwood 500 rms amps and it BLOWS this away and only cost me 600-700. Shop around.
