Great buy

Very happy with this deck. Alot of options and audio settings for a very reasonable price.
Pros:
-Button/screen color change
-2 USB ports, use front for Bluetooth adapter(it's tiny and barely noticeable), rear for iPod cable so no wires sticking out.
-Bluetooth works very well and sound is clear, never miss a call now due to the music being too loud (pauses song then resumes when call ends)
-Bluetooth wireless audio play, works well with my iPhone 4.
-Good button layout, push the volume knob for mute/pause, back button which is awesome
-Sound quality is very good including iPod. Bluetooth wireless audio is not as good but still pretty good
-Control iPod from deck or the iPod (older iPods only work through the deck)

Cons:
-When scrolling through artists on the iPod menu, twisting the knob to quickly activates the speed search where it goes up by 10 artists at a time. This can be a bit annoying if only trying to get to the 'C's for example, but it's convienient if trying to get to say, the 'M's so it's just a half con I guess.
-The iPod takes approximately 10-15 seconds of "reading" or loading before it plays.

Bottom line, great deck, works, looks and sounds excellent. Pros FAR outweigh the minor cons. I would definately recommend this deck.

Bluetooth Stinks

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

I bought this product for the sole purpose of it's Bluetooth feature and people tell me that I sound like I'm speaking under water when I use it. I am pretty disappointed.

WOW, great stereo, great price!

Bought this for my daughter's auto and she absolutely loves it. This stereo gives her the ability to use almost all of her multimedia devices. Plus it has a dual Bluetooth, so, both her phone and her boyfriend's phone can be paired with this stereo. The Bluetooth with this unit works great, it's hard to tell if she is using her phone or the Bluetooth. She loves the ability to change the colors on the display. And the sound quality is just what you would expect from JVC. All in all, a very nice unit and a great price!

Works well for the most part

This works well and satisfies most of my needs. However, it does not work too well with the Galaxy Nexus. The pairing takes a bit of time and does not play automatically nor does it display the currently playing song with the phone.

I wanted to find out how to update the firmware but the instructions were a bit confusing as well.

Amazing head unit!

Couldn't be happier with this head unit. It has just about every feature you could ask for, and everything works as well or better than they claim.

Maybe not so good with a Blackberry Curve

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R800).

Nicely priced radio. Great display choices, excellent sound.

Bluetooth works very poorly with Blackberry Curve. Won't hang up call.
Sound quality on phone is not very good (poor or no noise cancelling).

Don't buy for the Bluetooth with a Curve

Everything Worked!

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

I bought this unit so I can have a bluetooth connection to my iPhone. I also have a Sirius account so I bought the under dash Sirius radio and connected that. Everything worked perfectly. I also absolutely love the USB front port, I can play all my recorded music from my flash drive. Love it !!!!

JVC KD-R820BT-Love It

I got this head unit in and have loved it. The bluetooth was very easy to set up and sounds great playing Pandora from my phone using the rear cable as the bluetooth dongle (Android phone) You still have to control the app using the phone rather than the head unit, but that's fine. I haven't gotten a phone call yet so I can't speak to the call quality, but I imagine it will work well. The set up is very easy and intuitive. It sounds great and has all the adjust-ability that you would expect for a high model number unit. Both High and Low pass filters, 9 band graphic equalizer as well as a few preset equalizer options.

I was hoping for more variation in the color control, but it was more than sufficient for matching my car's interior lights. (Pontiac) And can be adjusted by zone (buttons versus screen), by day or night, and even if you want the menus to be a different color when you go into the menu section. (I like that, its a quick glance to remember that I haven't completely left the menu section).

The USB port on the front read my 8 gb flash drive very quickly. Switching between folders seems to be fairly intuitive and it reads and scrolls the ID3 tag. One of the draws to this unit was that it gives track/station frequency information as well as the clock all at the same time. No more flipping between the two. Another tiny con is the case that holds the faceplate is a hard plastic with just a small piece of foam in it. I prefer having a soft cloth case. For the money, this is an exceptional unit. And the shipping and service from Sonic was excellent as always. The free mounting bracket and wiring harness is a nice touch.

Jvc

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

I purchased this for my wife's Toyota for the ease of use compared to the Kenwood she had. It's an excellent unit, she has had no problems and the bluetooth works great

My Contribution

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R800).

Ive used this unit over a year now. I just have to contribute the fact that the usb 2.0 port on the front, will charge a cellular phone if your phone cable is the usb charging type. So I imagine it would do the same for an Ipod. The rear cable port didn't seem to do the same in my case. I truly give this product a complete 5 star rating only because its easy to use, has all the features I could ever want. I can hook a video monitor to it for sound as long as it has bluetooth the unit will pick it up.

Overall good product

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

Overall this is a good product . Its the best for the money I could find ANYWHERE . But there is good and bad as always

THE GOOD : It has a very good pre-amp , It makes my music sound unbelievably good . It has a fairly large menu, lot of things to play with . The bluetooth audio streaming quality I can live with. Love how it looks at night. love my two usb ports. When I hook a usb drive to it I can go threw folders just like a mp3 player. I have a 16 gb flash drive hooked into it and i can go into my Rock folder lets say and choose the artist I want and from what folder I have under his name I would like to play, then of course the song I would like.

THE BAD : It freezes up some on me . I work as a delivery driver right now and work out of my car and if its turned on and off a lot it seems to glitch sometimes . This is usually fixed by just toggling the sources a few times . And When Im not on the phone sometimes but hooked threw bluetooth it will say calling unknown. but It never calls, just wants to say that and freeze up . and lastly my subwoofer menu is not that easy to get too . I have to go threw 3 screens in order to be able to set what ohm level i want for that song and so forth .

Overall I dont regret buying the unit AT ALL . I got major bang for my buck . I have always liked and owned jvc as well . Before this one I had a jvc kbt 110 I think . But I had many more flaws I could point out with my old one than I could this one . I have owned this head unit for about 6 months now . I owned my old unit for about 3 years .

JVC KD-R800

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R800).

Love this product also the included Bluetooth USB. Easy to operate. The only thing is when I hook up my iPhone 3GS to it the music stops playing and I have to disconnect it from the unit then plug it back in..other than that it's great

Dang!

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

This deck has so much bang for the buck its crazy. Bluetooth that people can actually hear, dual USB, great display, BT audio streaming, the list goes on. Sounds awesome, and is easy to use. Most of the setup I didn't even have to open the manual. Replaced a Kenwood, and I couldn't even adjust the clock without an entire page of manual, so that was a huge bonus. The built in EQ is way better than most and allows you to really fine tune the sound.

Great deck, and I would definitely purchase it again. Especially for this price!

JVC car stereo (KD-R810) - review

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

Sound quality is great, installed pretty smoothly (a little squeaking in the back) but the buttons are a bit too small and make it difficult to toggle through the tracks. The bluetooth doesn't always connect but I have a feeling that's more the Nokia touch phone I'm using than the unit itself.

Fastest USB reader!

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

I was getting sick of my JVC AVX44 on how slow the USB reader was. It would take forever. This headunit is top notch. The USB responds extremely fast, Bluetooth Music is really clear, and the sound setting is great. Only complain is the screen is kind of old school.

Awesome

The following review is for a previous version (KD-G820).

My dad bought me this deck like 5 months ago and I never had ONE problem with it...it was amazing...until someone broke into my car and stole it! (thats how great it was) Definitely a good buy, I'd buy it again if it wasn't for the fact that the BossBV7990T caught my eye first...I'll definitely be reviewing that one next. Overall, great buy for anyone, great price too considering I got mine for over $300. Definite good buy!

I purchased this radio for my wife and it has more features than my kenwood. don't get me wrong, my kw rocks but this model is much better than mine and i wish i could trade her. I recommend this unit to anyone. Just don't buy it for your wife first.

Great Deck

The following review is for a previous version (KD-G820).

I have had this deck in my Dodge Ram pickup for several years now. I have never had any problems with it. Sound is excellent and much cleaner than the stock stereo. Works great with a USB Thumb Drive plugged into the front for long trips. I love this deck and you can't beat the price.

Excellent for all uses

The following review is for a previous version (KD-G820).

This is one of the nicer in-dash receivers that I've seen. It has a multi-color display and easy access to plug in either a flash drive or an iPod (USB connection). Some of the features require a bit of scrolling and navigating to reach and there is no play or stop button if you listen to CDs or USB music. It is expensive at retail prices, but at the Sonic Electronix price it is an excellent buy.

Great features

The following review is for a previous version (KD-G820).

Seriously the best deck I've ever seen for the price. The usb port is the so useful. I have a 1-gig thumb drive that i use and its so much easier and faster than making new cds every time i wanna listen to new music. It has a sub out rca jack which is really useful too. Really a great deck for a great price.

Great stereo!

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

Has front and rear usb connections, has bluetooth capabilities; I use my smart phone with Pandora radio and can also bluetooth mp3's on phone if you don't want to use the usb cable. The display colors are customizable and great. Overall best Cd/fm/am/usb/ bluetooth mp3 receiver I've ever owned.

Good deal

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

This was a good selection. It automatically turns on and connects to my bluetooth phone when i start the car. The bluetooth phone works very well. It also answers calls after 3 rings. These characteristics are not in the Sony radio I have in another car. The only concern is that the selection of preset stations is on a dial. There are no buttons. This gives more choice, but is a little difficult to change while driving. The three lines of display are a little small and difficult to read in sunlight, but very clear in the right light. I have no real complaints.

Good value

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

Most everything works great. However pre-amp output was too week for my BOSE system in infinity i35, so I have to buy lowering unit and go from high output rather then line out. also microphone has a ton of noise and somewhat not usable even with noise reduction and updated firmware that suppose to fix that issue.

Decent Unit

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

Solid unit with a lot of functionality for a low price. I am yet to encounter any glitches. The interface is clear enough and there is a good amount of configuration options.
Among negatives - the screen is too reflective and packs a bit too much info so it's hard to read at times. But it's a small single-DIN unit, so...
Overall, I am quite happy, do not regret the purchase one bit.

One thing to note - this display doesn't support variable dimming (the gradual change of brightness of the dashboard). On the other hand I barely notice as the built-in clock in my Prelude doesn't do it either.

lots of features

The following review is for a previous version (KD-R810).

This stereo improved the sound of the stock speakers immensely. It is a night and day difference. It plays at much higher volumes, increased the clarity and handles semi-scratched discs very well. Bluetooth works great, and iPod controls work wonderfully. Only con is the skip buttons are slightly small. I now have to poke buttons with my index finger instead of my thumb. Oh well. GREAT bang for the buck.
