JVC KW-AVX830

I bought this system for my F150 and it works great. Everything is easily accessable and the boost to my spaekers is real good. The only setback I have is the mic for the bluetooth. It's very low and no one can hear me.

For the price

For the price this deck is well worth the money. Installed in a 2001 Buick century. Had to do a lot of modification to dash to get it to fit. Features are well worth the money. USB is a little slow at reading. 7 band EQ makes for great audio output and the 5v pre-outs are a great feature for this price range. The Bluetooth mic is mediocre but does the job. Install it as close as possible to yourself.

Great Unit

This is a great product, and it sounds really good. It could be better in some respects though. The menu system for controlling an iPod is slow and cumbersome. You always have to start at the beginning. For example, if you are listening to a jazz album, and want to listen to other one, it takes you to the root menu instead of leaving you where you were as it would happen in the iPod front Panel. Also, the bluetooth microphone is useless. No one understands you! But that's the case with 99.5% of them, so I will not hold it against the unit. One last thing: Although I understand it have one of the best built in EQs, as I'm pretty picky about equalization I would like to be able to alter each frequency band, not just one in each group (3 total).

Overall is a great unit though. If I ever replace it, I will probably look into JVC again.

Fantastic Unit

I bought this radio to replace the factory radio in my 2000 Buick Park Avenue. At first I had a lot of difficulty getting the unit to fit, even though the dimensions were exactly the same as the factory radio. I discovered that the adapter harness was causing the problem as it after assembly with the Buick adapter the wire bundle was wider than the available clearance (which was only 0.2" to begin with). I remedied this by using 18 gauge trailer 4 wire ribbon wire to extend the length of the adapter harness. 2 side by side and 2 tall was enough to fit neatly behind the unit and get it all the way in.

Pros: Does everything I wanted it to do and more.

Cons: Depth may make it difficult to fit in some vehicles. Doesn't come with remote.

Full of features and priced very well

I guess I'm one of the first to get this unit as I pre ordered it back in February. I got it at a great price using the "offer" feature here at Sonic and for what it has, you can't get another brand or model at this price point. The Bluetooth so far leaves a little bit to be desired, but I'm still experimenting with the mic placement and settings which I think will fix the issues. Connection is seamless though and very easy to set up. This unit has 2 sets of 5v pre-outs and one single mono sub out which provide crisp, clear sound and also has dual zone control so that you can play a DVD for your rear seat passengers through the video out and still listen to your own music in the front. You can fine tune the sounds with a very nice and easy to use equalizer. No more limited Bass/Mid/High adjustments, this unit gives you individual adjustments from 60hz to 17.5khz. I have it hooked up with a Boyo rearview camera, Sirius radio adapter, Axxess steering wheel control integration and my Iphone and all of the transitions are seamless and smooth. DVD picture quality is pretty much the same as all the other double din units I've had. I wouldn't say it's better or worse as it's probably the same LCD from unit to unit. I've had Clarions, Eclipses and Alpines and they've all been about the same picture quality.
If your looking for a double din with all the features and don't need GPS, this is the one to get. Just be aware that the RCA's are built into the back of the unit, they are NOT extended off the back with pig tail cables like some other units, so if this presents an install or fitment issue, keep that in mind.
Overall this is 4.5 star head unit in a world of 3 star competition. It would be a 5 star unit aside from the RCA design and static in the BT mic, but those issues are so minor that they only dropped it 1/2 a star in my book. Try to find another unit with all the features that this offers and you'll be looking at double the price. No brainer for me, I love it so far!

To Tell You The Truth

Well the Unit isnt as good as it seems, I would definately suggest that if your looking at this head unit you might want to reconsider and i will tell you why.

1. its super slow! there are people on here that will tell you that this will load your USB, CDs, Ipod, Bluetooth Phone.. whatever really slowly, i mean apocalyptically slow. IDK what the programmers where thinking when they did it but wow. It happens when you change the track, when you start your car or randomly loose connection.

2. Ipod Touch is probably one of the best things invented and idk if anyone else is having this problem but the amount of Static that comes out of the speakers is soo loud when you connect it using bluetooth ud want to just throw it out. ...... It gets worse, i tried connecting it using the usb cable and the static went away only to come back every 2-5 seconds randomly, not on a specific tempo just randomly u hear clicks and scratches and yes ive tried numerous songs, restarted the itouch, re downloaded the songs on it, ive even tried buying itunes songs and trying it and it doesnt work at all, its quite rediculous.

3. I really have to say.... go with clarion, go with pioneer, go with kenwood or even Sony!! But please save your money and stay away from this its just complete rubbish. your better off buying 400 bucks worth of Q-Tips

Decent Radio

I ordered and installed two of these radios and installed them in a clients two vehicles.
Pros:
Nice screen
Good user interface
Great ipod/iphone controls
Detachable faceplate
Good Bluetooth interface
Powerful RCA pre-outs
Plenty aux inputs
The backlit buttons turn off when not in use, very nice and clean. The letters on the buttons are smoked when not in use or when the radio is off. The radio looks very clean at this point.

Cons:
Audio tuning options limited - 3 band parametric EQ, no time alignment and limited crossover
Very slow at startup - CD player takes longer then usual to begin playing
The proximity sensor is not as sensitive as I like
No remote control
Subwoofer mono output
The trim is nice and glossy but it appears to be prone to scratches

Overall, my client likes the radio and that's all that matters. There are some very nice cosmetic features, but being a SQ nut, its just not for me.

Noise issues

This unit appears to be OK. The proximity switch works about 50% of the time but that is not really a big deal. The big problem is that when listening to the satellite radio I get a lot of alternator noise. The tuner has been replaced twice and still not solved. I should have purchased another Pioneer.

Great Buy

This is an outstanding unit for the price. Only had one problem with a fuse internally but the manufacturer, JVC, fixed it and shipped it back. Great unit and fits well in my ford f150 07.

Poor Quality

Pros: I like SonicElectronix; I think it’s a good online store. I like that the unit is detachable.

Cons: Unit arrived with a bad subwoofer output; very low volume from the sub mono out regardless of subwoofer volume setting. iPod controls and menus stopped displaying on radio after about 3 months. Swapped iPod, but same problem.
