Great value but it has some issues

First the good stuff. For the money it has an incredible amount of features, is very easy to use, was easy to install, the LCD screen is really nice and it sounds great.

Now the bad. I have had a couple of issues with it. First, when playing music from the USB drive it sometime locks up which requires you to plug your memory stick into your computer and reinstall the songs. It locks up when the memory stick is still plugged into the stereo and the car is shut off and restarted. The only way to keep it from locking up is to either push the stop button on the stereo before you shut the car off or advance to a new song as soon as you restart the car. If you get into the routine, it will work perfectly. If you forget though, it will lock up and you can't use your memory stick until you can get to a computer. Second, the 3.5mm axillary input on the front of the unit does not work. It didn't work from the very beginning but I don't really want to be without my stereo for a period of time while I send it back to have it fixed, so I have done nothing with it yet. Third, I use a BTM10 Bluetooth receiver with this unit. It works flawlessly but there is no separate volume for the bluetooth device. The bluetooth device requires a volume of about 20 so if you're listening to music at a low to moderate level you have to turn the volume up when a call comes in. But when you hang up from a call, the radio comes back on at 20 and almost blows you out of the car if you're not quick to turn the volume back down. There are separate volume controls for CD and axillary devices but not for bluetooth. Why??

So, there are some quirks with this unit but once you get a handle on them, they're not bad to live with. All-in-all, it's a really nice unit. I bought it because of the LCD screen, features, price and the fact that when the screen is closed, you still have a small LCD which displays a clock, radio stations and other info. All of these things work great. If I could get some new firmware to get the USB to stop locking up and the auxillary input worked I would be much happier with it.

ok value get what you pay for

if you are looking for a very basic dvd/cd player pop out screen for you ride then this will be fine considering the price.
the screen is dark when the weather is cold, its 5 degrees right now.... and the screen doesn't always open up when its cold, i have to reopen and close it a few times to get it opened all the way.
the sound quality is again, ok. there is only a treb/mid/bass and subwoofer adjustment. so fine tuning some of the boomy sounds that fall between the mid and lows can't be done.
for the price its a good unit but considering a kenwood or pioneer is almost 2-300 more the price then seems better. the video quality is ok and is dependent on screen temp, angle of the sun and the initial video quality.

Very nice unit

I put this in my work truck powering a Jensen Power 760 4 channel amp. It's hooked up to a pair of 6 3/4" Pioneer TSD720C components and a 12" Boston Accoustics sub.

This thing sounds clean and picture is awesome. Nice viewing angles, nice resolution, good color, nice brightness. The touch screen works great.

The bluetooth addon was cheap imo, it even lets me stream music from my cell phone. It sounds awesome doing so.

I added a PyleView ATSC TV tuner to the rear AUX inputs and the picture is incredible. Nice crisp, clean hdtv. Beautiful sound.

The Jensen Vm9313 represents a good solid product at a good price. I'd recommend it.

Exceptional Value

Bought this for my son, he picked out the model. The first 4 retailers prices were so much higher that once I found Sonic Electronix I thought I had the wrong product. I have shared this retailer with many friends. It is the same product at almost half the price.

Great Product

Just bought mine a week ago, Installation was a little painful in my 96 impala but i managed to shove it all in. I would recommend planning how you will wire the cables before hand. The features are awesome for the price. IT even plays videos from my 120gb ipod classic! it has other accessories to expand like nav and bluetooth maybe later for me. my first install and i love it. i always wanna be driving in my car. It increased the quality my factory speakers put out. no complaints, just sometimes the touch screen is a little weird not too bad, and the ipod interface which is pretty decent just a little hard to navigate if u have a lot of artists other than that awesome.

Audiophiles Beware

Time frame: I've owned this for over 1 month.
Skip to bottom summary if you don't want to read an essay

Lets start with pros:
- Value: this thing has so many features that it's a bit mind blowing.
7" pop out screen,HD radio, iPod connectivity, USB input capable of up to 8GB flash memory, a couple auxiliary inputs, and 4.1 preamp outs. I've used all of these features and let me tell you they all work great and I haven't had a single glitch yet.
- One thing to note about the iPod connection is that you can operate it either from the touch screen or from the ipod, so that's a kinda neat feature.
- Screen is very clear and the colors&refresh rate on it are pretty good.

Now some of the cons.
- When playing from a USB it will start mp3's a couple milliseconds into the song. For most music this wont be a problem, but for some bands that have crossover between tracks it can be a little annoying.
- Folders on a flash disc are accessed by the time you put them on the flash drive, not alphabetically, so if you want it in alphabetic order you need to make sure to format the drive completely, then add the music in alphabetic order one folder at a time.
- Sound quality is.... ok... I previously had a JVC Arsenal series head unit that got stolen from my car, and it played things so crisp and cleanly, so maybe I got spoiled by it. This unit isn't as crisp or clean.
- This unit has a mandatory low frequency crossover, so many notes below it absolutely wont be sent to the speakers. some people like this, but I enjoyed being able to set the unit to no restrictions and let my amp decide what goes to the speakers. My infinity Kappas can handle down to 30hz and more power than my amp can throw at them, so why should be head unit HAVE to restrict it.
- As another reviewer said, you only have the 3 standard controls and a subwoofer control, which as they pointed out gives you little wiggle room for the notes that might lie in between.

I feel like this unit has some weird processing issues with the low end frequencies. Songs like TI - Live your Life have little to no big boom on them even though my JVC and home theater played them out that way. Meanwhile Jay-Z's album Blueprint III is so ridiculously boomy that I have to turn the subwoofer way down.

In Summary:
Good screen, video playback, connectivity, overall features.
OK overall sound quality
Bad audio control and consistency.

If you're a pure audiophile like I am you will ultimately be disappointed by this head unit, even if it does have a cool screen and can play videos. Either spend the extra money to get a video head unit with better sound quality, or forgo the video component and get something that knows how to play music better.

amazing

good overall head unit. install was a little tricky having to hide the hd radio module (could have just been my car) but other than that everything went in fine. picture is great. on the ipod menu the scroll bar is a bit touchy. it will sometimes jump clear down to the bottom of your playlist. but i would recommend it to anyone. great quality

Not the same Jensen anymore

I was looking for a simple CD player when I came across the Jensen vm 9313. I bought it simply because it had a USB input. I thought I could use it to charge my phone and MP-3 player. I was surprised when I opened the box. It took about 20 minutes to get everything out of the box and unwrapped. This is not the the cheap Jensen I remember from my first system 25 years ago. After installing it I was overwhelmed. great sound and easy to use. One thing check flip out height mine hits my dash and had to modify install kit, but it was worth it. The remote is a little cheap but the only problem I've found so far.

Good

I love this product in my car. ITs awesome and makes my sound in car sound so muhc better and adds awesome appeal when people are in. But if you are buying this and own a pontiac 08 g6 and have the mpg and odometer and tire pressure screen on middle of console get the metra wiring harness the other won't work with those parts. Very unfortuante cause im out 70 bucks rite now cause sonix won't send my product return info.. Great product though. LOVE IT

Jensen is quality

I have had the product for about a day and the thing is a total plus. Easy install, and a good increase in sound volume and bass. makes a huge difference out of stock speakers. Get this, you wont regret it.
