Fantastic Features
Yea, I was skeptical about Jensen/Audiovox. But after being in the car dealership service business for the last 20 years, I know how one manufacturer likes to blanket the market with 6 different brand names. Gone are the days of "quality" brands. Yea you, high-end big-name brand. I've had my guys replace tooooo many of those fancy head units. So here is this lowly $400 Jensen with all these features--plus GPS!!!!! I have been truly amazed for about 5 months now. Its in my wife's Sequoia and she is ga-ga over this thing. I like to jam on the radio/cd while driving while the screen is on back-up camera! Too cool. Has a big Speedo Display using GPS, plays DVD's, lots of user options, too. Just works well. SOLID feeling volume knob with micro-clicks. Feels good, no slop. Excellent touch-screen. Large screen not blocked on each side with seldom used buttons. Plug in the iPhone and it picks up all the info. Playlists, artists, songs, etc. on it's own!! I havent even bought the $20 iPod cable yet. Probably won't. I also purchased the Rockford Fosgate 10" amplified sub.(ready to go unit). Sweet Jesus this thing shakes the hell out of everything! I can only imagine the 12" version! Blew me away. Forget what you thought you knew about subwoofers. Apparently, technology has improved greatly while I've been away raising kids. This thing pumps out chest-pounding bass like my two 12's back in 1991. TOTAL SATISFACTION

Fantastic double din touch screen deck
I bought this unit based on other reviews and the features of the unit. And it was better than expected! I was hesitant that it was a Jensen, but no longer.
Install - easier than expected
Sound - Very good, the unit has a lot of options in equalization. I wanted the 3 sets of outputs. I did find that the unit is not tolerant of high compression MP3s. Some of my oldest MP3 recording were at highest compression and low fidelity. (memory wasn't cheap 10 yrs ago) I re-ripped them and they sound great.
Controls/Screen, I searched out units with a rotary volume, but with large screen. This unit is great on both- an the screen only slightly washed out in full sunlight from sunroof.
Inputs- it taked USB, SD card, DVD or CD for music. All work fine. Nice to have those options, more expensive units don't always have those opttions.
DVD - plays movies better than expected, easy to jump forward, loads fast.
NAV- for the price you can't beat it. My Magellan is slighlty better or intuiative, but when you get use to this one, entry flows well. It does include 11 million POCs and was impressed. When you have Nav and stereo on, the music mutes down and the Nav voice comes on with nice fading. You can upgrade the NAV info in future years for $99, but the '09 data is fine.
Blue tooth/camera- haven't played with these yet.
I would highly recommend - friends that have seen and listened can't believe the price and brand. They love the screen. For 1/2 the price of Kenwood you get 90% of satisfaction/features.
My favorite feature is the ease I have scrolling the MP3 songs, very easy and the titles are easy to use with large font sizes.

Great Product
We purchased this one because we didn't have a lot of money but still wanted a good quality product and we were not disapointed! This is the best bang for your buck!

Excellent Product
If you want to spend no more than $400 this is the way to go, this unit is pretty neat, easy to use and has a ton of features for the value, crystal clear Bluetooth with the added BTM15 module, will sync your contact list, missed calls, even the music you have in your phone, navigation is an A+ very easy to use, tons of points of interest and then again crystal clear voice to your car speakers, this unit rocks.

GREAT FOR THE MONEY
Hi all! My review is gonna be kinda long because I just wanna cover everything and point out some great features if possible.
I came across this unit when I was looking for a Two-way alarm system on Sonic. And when I saw the price of $379.99 on this Fully-loaded unit, there were 2 things in my mind. One, this gotta be a joke or someone in the sale department was really messed up tagging the price. And two and most likely true, this is a sh***y system and I never heard of Jensen before. So I went ahead and check it out to see if this a good unit.
I read through the Specs and Features of this unit pretty careful, twice. And this unit does it all. It has every options you can ask for a car head unit. NAV, BLUETOOTH, XM, IPOD HOOKUP, USB Port, SD Card Reader, 5.1 RCA Outputs, Rear View Camera Hookup, Rear Seats Video Outputs and much more...This is more than I could ask for as a head unit. That's why I really concerned about the quality and durability of this unit so I read more than 20 reviews. And suprisingly, 12 out of the first 20 had All 5-stars and the rest had like 4-stars and up.
So without any doubt, I bought 2 of these, one for my car and the other for my girlfriend's. Got these 3 days late...I have to say that Sonic did a super job on packing. The unit came sealed and not even a little dirt on the unit box. I opened the unit's box and started checking on the unit itself and all the included accessories. Not thing missing on both unit, that's a start. All accessories were sealed with tape and fresh. The first thing I always do with these electronics is read the Manual or Installation Guide. This unit came with both, so I saved some time by going through the Installation Guide only. If I get into any trouble I will then search it in the Manual. The guide was pretty straight forward. After spending some time reading the guide, I felt very confident installing it myself because Best Buy Geek Squad will damage it or my car anyways. So why not install it myself, I can save some money and learn a lot of things messing up my own car, LOL. So I connected the head unit harness with the harness designed to plug and play on my car audio system. Sonic included the specific harness and dash kit for your car for FREE, that's a breeze. After connecting all the required wires together, I was pretty much ready to install this unit. Popped the hood, disconnected the Positive Terminal....and Negative Terminal to make sure that there's absolutely no short circuit. I went ahead and remove my car dash and factory head unit. Unfortunately, the free dash kit that Sonic included for my car was not used because I want the head unit door in my car able to close. I drive 2005 Scion tC by the way. So I modified the factory mounting kit to make the dash door be able to close completely with this new unit. All the instructions on how to connect wires and install mounting kit are included with the free dash kit and harness.
After an hour, everything was in places and ready to run the first try. FAIL. The unit powered on but only showed a white screen. 2nd try, same thing. 3rd try, nothing different. So I called Sonic Tech Support, where the Tech guy was very patient with me, and that's why I love shopping at Sonic. He spent like almost half an hour to help me fixing some bad wiring. I tell you what, that was the longest time a business representative been on the phone with me. Very impressive. So he figured out that i got some bad Ground wiring and told me to ground it some where else on the chasis and I did. Turned car key to ACC, and BAM!!!, unit powered on completely, "Jensen" loading screen for about 10 secs, and everything on the screen like it's supposed to. Said thanks to the Tech guy but forgot to ask for his name. Inserted my pre-loaded SD card with 213 songs in the SD slot, the unit automatically loaded the SD card and VOILA!!! 213 songs with titles and artists. It took approximately 8 secs to load all 213 songs on the playlist. Navigated one of my favorite song "Swing Ya Rag" by T.I and BA BAM!!! The system hit extremely HARD. I have Alpine SPR-50C component speakers in front and Alpine SPS-610 speakers in rear seats all powered by Alpine MRP-F300 along with 2-12" Alpine type R ported box with Jl JX1000/1D.
While the unit is ON. With just one button I can get to the Navigation feature. Maps load kinda fast, about 4 secs. It is kind of hard to use the Navigation at first, but if you spend a good amount of time driving around with it, you will get used to it real quick.
About the Bluetooth, I used the Jensen BTM15 and everything is fantastic. I mounted the Bluetooth device on top of the rear view mirror for easy access every time someone calling. The sound is pretty clear, no signal dropping, and it filters out unwanted noise pretty much. I was talking through the Bluetooth the other day with my friend while driving at 60-65 MPH with windows rolled down, my friend barely heard the noise of the wind and other vehicles sounds, but heard me pretty clear. This feature is very cool.
Next is Ipod Hook up feature. You can hook up pretty much all the new models of ipod Touch and Iphone. Please check the compatibility before purchase the Jensen Jlink USB, which is used to play your ipod/iphone musics and videos. If you only play musics from your ipod/iphone, you can directly plug it the USB port behind the unit. But you will need Jensen Jlink USB to play musics and videos. You can also control your ipod/iphone right on the screen. This feature is a must have for those who has ipod or iphone, but please check the compatibility first.
Everything else is just PERFECT. I owned a couple of Kenwood, Pioneer and Alpine head units before, but this Jensen unit is really something. In my opinion, this unit can be compared with some fully-loaded Kenwood units and even with Pioneer with same options.
Im really glad that I bought this unit. It's given me a lot of fun and joys.
Highly recommend for anyone who looking for a fully-loaded head unit with limited budget.

Great Value for all the Features, Can't beat it!
I can't believe how loaded this is for the price. Navigation unit is easy to use, stereo has alot of options to customize just about anything you want to. The DVD player is very good quality. Just remember to run the ground wire to the e-brake wire so your DVD player will work while you drive FOR YOUR CHILDREN OR PASSENGERS. The only bad thing I can say is that for iPod doesn't show the album artwork. BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

Good Unit
Overall great head unit. Easy to use. Navigation is detailed in my opinion. Great sound quality. The only problems are that if you want to use the dvd mode you must have your parking brake set. Not sure if you can by pass that or not. The other problem i had was the installation. I installed this into an 03 f250 and it is too large to fit. i had to shave the inner part of the dash to make it fit. I would recommend this product but even though the site says it will fit double check your measurements.

Works great.
Everything about this radio was worth it. The only thing I'm having trouble with is getting my iPhone to play vedio on the radio.

just installed today
bought this on a whim mostly due to what I felt was a great value. was pleasantly surprised. Jensen was always junk when I was growing up but it seems they have stepped up. this is a great value for the price. a lot of features, and the screen quality seems to be excellent. hopefully it holds up.

Very nice!!!
This unit is the best it has wince 6.0 its fast. You need to let the screen warm up on days of -10 but is still readable just fuzzy I think thats normal. I would recommend this unit to anyone i have the bluetooth adapter and everything works grate.I dont like the gps look and feel but i works fine. I've had the unit about 1week.

Great Deal..
Everything on this unit does what it says. The navigation is very decent. The SD card works well and the wiring that comes with it makes it easy to stream audio from an MP3 player or phone. I ordered the BTM15 bluetooth adapter. When I connected it, it didn't work. I contacted Sonic at which point they took care of it within a reasonable amount of time. The only thing that would make this unit better would be an option to customize the colors. The brown goes well with my wood trim, but it would also be nice to be able to set a wallpaper. For the price, you can't go wrong with this unit. I am very pleased. I would also definitely keep my busniess with Sonic.

Went through 3 of them
CONS Had one in my NEW used truck, the cd player would NOT work. it was out of warranty, So I took it apart and there was some of the plastic broken. I tried to super glue it. No go.
Purchased another one, Because all the wiring was the same just plug and play. it would NOT work, the display went bad after 3 days.
Returned it for another bad display unit, on the 3 rd one right after warranty went out so did the display.
the nav display started loosing the 1st column of numbers and digits then The unit started turning it self off and on when it wanted too.
the bluetooth was lacking
PROS: the sound was GREAT, easy to use, it found the ipod no problem, it also paired well with 3 different phones.
I would NOT recommended this product to anyone

Great radio!!
Bought this radio for my wife along with the Axxess ASWC! I'm really pleased for my buy. My wife is really happy with it. Navigation is amazing and all other features. It has glare protection and touch screen is very accurate, sound is amazing.

Excellent value
I installed this unit in my 2003 Ford Police Interceptor, thinking that the opening in the dash was a Double DIN. I was wrong, Ford (in its infinite wisdom) made a 1-1/2 DIN, and the space for the rear of the unit wasn't tall enough to accept the VM9424.
Fortunately, I discovered that my 2003 had a redesigned defroster duct, and I was able to cut away the plastic rear dash support sufficient to clear the unit. A little filing of the front dash opening, and it slid right in.
The unit looks good, is easy to use, and sound quality is very good. I definitely recommend this for a good in-dash starter.
I subsequently purchased the BTM10 Bluetooth Module (I received the very similar BMT15 for the same price) and installed it without trouble. Incoming calls are clear, and my friends and associates swear they cannot tell I am using any sort of Bluetooth or speakerphone arrangement from their end- they report the sound quality as excellent.
The main drawback is that the display is difficult to read in bright sunlight. Having no experience with other displays of this type, I cannot make a valid comparison.

Great radio
I started looking for a flip out screen dvd player about 6-8 months ago. I was pretty much set on buying something from Pyle or BrandX. I was only looking to spend 200 bucks and found a large number of lower end stereos in my price range.
That is when I came across this radio in a local custom truck shop. I played with it for a few minutes. I spent a lot of time playing with some lower cost Pioneer and Kenwood units. They (1) did not have all the features one would one in a unit like this and (2) they were not as smooth as their higher end units.
I like this unit a lot. Not counting the reviews that involve damaged units or bad installs or other defective units, most reviews are fairly accurate. It does have a clunky navigation system. But it does work. It takes it longer to reroute than my wife's nuvi or my google navigation on my phone. The basic ipod controls are better than I thought. It reads the playlists that I have on the ipod. It does not play video from the 5th gen ipod videos. But, it does read videos off of the SD card slot. It will read up to an 8 gig card. The RDS works for music stations, but when I listen to ESPN 980 it does not pick that station up. Setting up presets is very easy, just find the station you want and hold down the preset button you want. There is a pretty good eq selection between presets and custom. I do not have a camera or amp or anything extra. Just the basic jeep stereo system.
When they say the radio does not fit, it does not fit. I had to do a good amount of custom work, and I am not done. But after a day or two with this unit, I am very pleased I spent more than I planned and less than a top end unit.

Great product for the money!
Love the unit I bought. Drove to Chicago and back to Boston with no problems. Only down fall is the GPS is very difficult to use. Other then that the iPod and everything else is great.

GPS is uninspiring
The GPS is nothing to write home about. It's slow and herky-jerky. It's the only disappointment I have. Other than that, it works fine. I like all the available inputs and the rotary volume. The touch screen works fine. Install was a breeze using the parts provided by Sonic Electronic and some research on the interweb to get it to function with my factory 2005 Ford Mustang amp and speakers. If I were to do it again, I'd save some dough and get the unit without the GPS.

Jury still out
Installed easily and most of the features work well. Sound is good.. Nav is good, but night screen does not work right; you can dim the screen manually but the auto dim is intermittent. Jensen has a gain control in the setup menu whereas you can preset the preamp output for different music and/or sound sources. Good feature but the unit will not always remember all the settings once you turnoff the unit. or change sources. It defaults back to the factory settings some of the time. The DVD plays well but 5.1 surround does not play as there is no center channel output. Therefore voices cannot be heard. There is no adjustment to down grade 5.1 to stereo so I guess the DVD movie thing is a waste. This is a nice unit loaded with features but the software is still buggy and needs to be updated. If Jensen does an update and fixes a few of the soft problems this unit is a keeper for the money. It is well thought out and has a lot of great features.. too bad they don't always work.

Good value if you don't care about some little issues
I bought this for the nav and ipod functions both are sketchy at best. The nav is not very professional looking it looks like someone designed it in their garage. Every time I hook my phone up it takes about 10 minutes for the radio to stop playing static and start playing music. Considering it was a little more than $300 bucks compared to the $900 for a decent system, it works okay. If I had to do it all over again I would have waited until I had more money. For a company truck it works.

Best price! Great product!
Installed in 2006 Yukon. This model is packed with features and for the price it can't be beat. The screen is very nice, the touch screen works great on it. I have never used a portable GPS, only on my phone so it took a little time to learn how to use the navigation. I don't read manuals or it would have been simple. It has dual zone so you can connect headrest monitors and have them play DVD while you listen to the radio, ipod, or sd card up front. The radio stations come in clear and I get a few more than I do with the stock radio. I am going to get another one for my other vehicle!!!

Like the unit, good quality. The GPS graphics kinda suck, not so good. DVD & TC are solid.

Good Buy for the money
The radio is a good buy for the money. It has its little kinks, but over all it is pretty good. I would recommend to purchase if your looking for a nice head unit with all the features for a good value.

suprisingly excellent
The Jensen vm9424 has exceeded all of my expectations. First the price is approximately half of comparable featured "Name" brand recievers. Second, the features of multi-media are awesome-I use the usb drive, bluetooth, radio reciever, dvd/cd,Gps and rear monitor ouputs, and backup camera input. On the matter of quality, the reciever is well built with integral cooling fan and heat sink for the internal amp that is above the power output of most all factory radios. The touchscreen is glare resistant and I have never had trouble seeing it, and is responsive to every touch. The menus are intuitive and easy to navigate. The Gps is good and the spoken directions are a great nav/driving aid. The bluetooth with Jensen BT15 adapter sounds great even with the windows rolled down. Back-up cam is automatically displayed when vehicle is placed in reverse and also if wired for it you can even turn it on anytime radio is on. Audio quality is good- its in a vehicle not a sound stage so it reproduces music faithfully and probably as good as any others available. I was suprised with the product as I am old enough to remember when Jensen was junk, no worries now though. My only complaint is the graphics on any of the radio reciever is a little lame-useable but could have been better. Over-all I would recomend as a upgrade to anyone that wants function, not hype and price. If you want a in dash gps reciever with multi-media you need not look further, unless you want to spend more or impress some highschool kids.

I would buy again though upset about not including Canada in the NAV Maps
OK,
Pros - It worked, the GPS is good, mp3 is good. Very simple unit.
The sound was much better than I expected, I put this in a Ford Taurus with crappy factory speakers, and was AMAZED!! The Volume knob IS A MUST!! not a down and up volume button..
CONS The colors can't be changed.. That sucks.. The Stupid CD insertion Blocks your view on the top 3/8" of the views creen, so you can't see the time or anything.. Could be a problem on many radio's.
YOU MUST BUY the NAV MAPS for Canada!!! Which many other include All North America. NO XVID OR DIVX.. so use the video with DVDS only....
I really wish Jensen would have made it so you could change color themes .. And the DVD insertion at the top blocking a portion of the screen really bothers me.
BUT all that being said, I knew this, and bought another, because I trusted it, it works..
6-7/10 BUT im fussy..

Ok not Great
The HD radio works good and the DVD does to. However the SD reader will stop playing in the middle of a song and skip to the next one. The Navigation is missing streets. I have a friend who lives on a street that is more than three years old and this unit did not cover it.

Nice System
I bought this system because of the price point. Most other systems with similar fuctionality are much more expensive. The installation was fairly easy but until I got the car apart, I did not know that I needed an adaptor for the Antenna Cable. You might want to check this out prior to installation so you don't have delays. The controls are very user friendly and easy to navigate around the screens. The only complaint I have is it doesn't properly upload the contacts from my iPhone. The data is incomplete. The phone numbers show up but the names come in as random characters. Jensen says in the manual that this is a because of the phone not the VM9424. I find this interesting because I have Microsoft Sync in my other vehicle and it has no problem uploading the contacts. The Navigation system is adequate. The graphics are ok and the directions are good. I am used to the Garmin software which tells you if it is recalculating but the Horizon Nav Mate 5 does not. The Audio is quality is good and the Phone?Navigation directions over the speakers is very clear. Even with the contacts issue, I would highly recommend this sytem to anyone.

Jensen 9424 double din reciever
Very impressed with this unit! I was concerned to pull the trigger on this purchase until I read other reviews, and I'm glad I did. This unit has excellent sound with the nice eq , good navigation with many usefull features, easy to use touch screen that has anti-glare and so many media selections I doubt you will use them all. Dvd/ cd, usb,sd card, rear view camera, xm radio, rear seat monitors (2 ea) and the radio with 18 fm presets and 12 am. I got a rear cam with mine and it really helps with reversing into a parking spot and eliminates the huge blind spots of my Envoy SUV. The performance is awesome and I don't think that doubling the price will get any more options and function or better sound with say a Kenwood unit. I would recomend this unit to anyone who wants in dash nav and multi media.

Good Navi for the Money
Great unit for the money. Installed it about a week ago and the GPS and XM Radio load quick, but I mounted the antennas on the roof. I have a feeling people that are complaining about it taking a while to load are mounting the antennas inside the car which of course is going to cause problems. Only complaints are that the Auto Dim feature doesn't always work at night, but you can manually adjust (still a pain) and you can't adjust the tones using the front MP3 port. While the input works just fine the screen is looking for a video feed to come through therefore not showing the the icon to make adjustments.

This item is a very good choice feature`s wise( versus price). It works well and is easy to assemble. The only downside is that GPS signal is slow and not very user friendly. It often send you to longer route. But beside this, i like it a lot!
