Love this stereo!

Great stereo, love the Bluetooth through the stereo feature, set up my steering wheel mounted controls on my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. I use my classic ipod with the Kenwood iPod direct cable and it works fantastic. Very easy to use love the customization of exterior colours I can pick, super easy to update. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

Great Head Unit

The following review is for a previous version (DDX771).

I have had others, this is the best. Clear video, easy install, features all work well.

Nice little HU

The following review is for a previous version (DDX771).

I ordered this Kenwood unit for my 2010 Chevy Traverse and have it connected through a Maestro RR unit to keep the factory chimes, steering wheel controls, etc.

This unit is exactly what one would expect from Kenwood. Good clean sound, strong tuner, and full integration with Apple products. It's not a navigation unit but it will connect with the Garmin navigation app for the iPhone. I also really appreciate it's ability to connect to the factory back-up camera and seamlessly toss it on the screen when the vehicle is shifted into reverse.

I do wish Kenwood included better crossover and EQ controls into their units but this will be connected to an external DSP so that's not a biggie in my case. Overall its a great and simple to use HU for anyone looking for a nice double din to replace their factory unit for a good price.

Very good unit

The following review is for a previous version (DDX771).

I've been installing stereos, motorization, fiberglass modifications for over 20 years. When you embark upon equipment that works well, you stick with it because if validates you product selection and competence as a professional in this field. The Kenwood DDX1 is a unit that integrates well and usual performs above average.

Perfect Sound Quality, Sme Other Flaws

The following review is for a previous version (DDX719).

I bought this radio because of the amazing sound quality kenwood continues to provide. I am disappointed with the functioning of the radio when navigating through songs, changing inputs, or trying to do anything quickly in general. If you have lots of patience to wait for songs to load or a screen to change than this is for you. Like i said, the sound quality is top notch if that is what you are looking for.

Nice Unit,Fast Delivery

The following review is for a previous version (DDX771).

This a very nice unit, Sonic has the best prices. I haven't installed the unit just yet. But when I do i will do another review. The only thing I wished the stereo came with a remote like most of the pioneer units, but no big deal I order one from Sonic as well. Sonic electronix is the best!! I order all my electronics from them.

Good Value

The following review is for a previous version (DDX719).

This is a great system, i had it for about 6 months. I love all the features it has, but my only dislike is the bluetooth capability with your phone. When you make or receive a call the call is not clear, there is a ehco. Good system overall kenwood just need to improve on this flaw.

Pretty good but not great

The following review is for a previous version (DDX719).

I was debating between this and a Pioneer and I went with this because of the higher screen resolution. I like the unit but I don't love it. I find the navigation of my iPhone's music to be less than ideal. The Hands free Bluetooth is pretty good but I get some complaints from people I call. The software, generally, is just OK -- it works, but it could be better. The sound quality is good, though I have it turned up over 25 much of the time (to a max of 35). It plays loud enough. I use the on-board amp.

love this head unit

The following review is for a previous version (DDX719).

This head-unit is great!!! This is my first multimedia player. The dvd picture is great. The controls respond fast. The sound quality is great out of the cd's, dvd's & Bluetooth. It has a very clean fit in my vehicle. It works fairly well with my android phone but I think I will get the iphone soon. It pulls up all my contact info & plays my music with the Kenwood app but can't control or see what is playing with the HU. I have to do everything with my phone on the music side of things. I think if I had the Iphone none of this would be a problem. I would recommend this HU to anyone who is looking for a great multimedia receiver. The cool factor is a must!!!!!

Great Deck

The following review is for a previous version (DDX771).

This deck is great. Bluetooth and integrated calling are flawless. Touchscreen is responsive and well organized. In depth tuning gives you total control over the sound. I recommend this unit to anyone and everyone!

good overall

The following review is for a previous version (DDX770).

This stereo is nice. I've always been a Kenwood fan. Pretty easy to navigate through the unit. However when I use the bluetooth my phone it doesnt always connect or it only connects to the phone and not the media audio. Plus this unit really needs a remote to to come with it.

Very happy with my kenwood purchase

The following review is for a previous version (DDX770).

I am very happy that I purchased the high-end option of the Kenwood screen as it seems adequate but considering it is for a vehicle it is OK. One ugly problem during the installation was the need to set a "hidden" option to enable the use of Axxess ASWC-1. Menu, System, Remote Sensor=ON. I spent hours trying to get the steering wheel control to work. Thankfully Axxess toll-free support pointed to me to the solution. Sonic providing the wiring harness and dash kit is a major bonus to the competition. Four annoyances with the Kenwood deck- 1) Any media source takes at least 10-15 seconds to start playing after power on. 2) Power on sequence always set the screen tilt to 0 and back even with the off and on tilt being the same. 3) The screen shows a 'Check Surrounding...' message with the backup camera. You can tap the screen to clear the message but it is annoying. 4) Haven't found how to navigate a DVD's menu.
Cool feature: You can turn the rear camera view on while driving.
I'm deducting for durability because the tilt/DVD eject mechanism doesn't look like it will make it 5 years. One reason I don't like the system check screen tilting. The less the mechanism moves the better. A lot of buttons on the panel are double mapped- tap is one function, hold is another and marginally labelled. Example: Menu/System Power This is the best labelled buttons.
