Good for 2 months.....
I bought this amp to push my 2 Kicker comp 12"
it worked awesome for a while, then one day the amp just didnt turn on, i re wired my whole system looking for answers, replaced all the fuses, yet nothing. Unless i get a replacement i wouldn't recommend this product.

Bang for your Buck
Amp pushes 500w RMS at 2 ohms which is perfect for my two MTX Terminator twelves that are rated 300w each so its giving them both a solid 250w. I've taken it on multiple 3 hour trips and has never overheated. For those of you bridging your amp and complaining about them overheating, you need to buy a monoblock. Bridging puts much more stress on the amp and you can get the same power output from a monoblock without putting additional streets on the unit. Sounds great for a low wattage system.

DOA
Amp powered on, but would not produce a signal to the subwoofer. Testing with voltmeter, multiple head-units and another amp confirm diagnosis.
Installation was time-sensitive so I have purchased another unit locally, and am awaiting RMA refund - will return to report on performance of new unit.

Great little amp
Outstanding little amplifier, small footprint for the output, provides plenty of subwoofer power for a full size extended cab pickup truck.

Good Start
I bought this as my first amp when getting started into the car audio game. This amp has held perfect for what i've put in my car which was a 10" and 2 12" Dual subs. I was pleased with it. If your looking for something cheap but good, buy this. I myself am stepping up my game and going from this kenwood to a Rockford 1000.1bd. and hopefully new subs once i get the cashflow

Awesome amp!
I like how durable it is and the ease of install. no complaints works as intended for my two 4ohm 250Watt subs. I simply connected it in parallel to get 2ohm connection at 500Watts. They could have remove the cover panel, its pretty useless.

This amp is fantastic
I hooked this amp up to two 12" MTX terminator subs and turned up the input sensitivity and LPF and they hit so hard. I took that setup on a 4 hour car drive through Illinois and the amp did not overheat during the whole trip (with the car running and audio going the whole time). Class D amps are the only way to go for subs and anyone who uses A/B is doing it wrong ;D

Great price, high power!
I bought this amp to pair up with two 12" kenwood subs. The max wattage of the two subs is 800watts each and they handle it amazingly. The amp has great features like 18db bass boost and a knob that adjusts the higher bass notes so you hear the full range of bass at full power rather than just the lower frequencies.

Its an ok amp
Sounds pretty strong at 2-ohm but when things get really cranking it shuts off when other amps of the same price range keep going. I switched the wires to 4-ohm, that helped a little but I lost some bass. Kenwood has been really great with helping me, they have great customer service and never leaves me on the back burners. The bottom line is if your not trying to blow out your windows with bass like me then it's an ok amp.

Good amp.
This is my first amp i've installed for subs and it went flawlessly and has held up to my abuse. Is powering 2 12" kicker comps and has never had problems supplying power. Just take with a grain of salt because of little experience.

Solid entry level amp
I bought this when they had their black friday deal. So far the amp has held up perfectly fine. Being a entry level amp, it was a solid investment for my 12" sub. I had the audio shop professionally install my system so they pre-set the amp settings. It was powering my 12" MB Quart ONX304 and ended up blowing it. I figured the extra 100wrms delivering into the sub caused the sub to fail. That should tell a bit how the amps power wattage is accurate as rated.

Clean Trouble Free Power To my JL Audio 10" Sub.
Currently using this amp to power a 10" JL Audio W1V2 Sub in a sealed enclosure in the back of a Scion TC hatchback. I was skeptical with using this amp with some of the reviews stating it runs hot. After getting it setup I am amazed at the power, clarity and clean base response I am getting from the subwoofer. With the volume at medium to high listening levels for over an hour the amp was still cool to the touch. I think this may be due to the fact that I am running it at about 1/2 to 2/3 gain as any more than that would be too much power/base for the interior of my car. I suspect if the amp was run at 2ohm and the gain turned full up and really played loud for an extended period it might get hot, if this is the case then I would say don't blame the amp as your pushing it to the max, just get a larger amp that can power the sub to the level you need without having to max it out all the time. Anyway, this amp when run responsibly is incredible and well worth the price. Completley satisified and would recommend the amp to anyone who uses their subwoofer sensibly and within specifications. Excellent product.

Great entry level amp
For the price, I really think you'll have a hard time finding a better sub. I know a lot of audio snobs look down on Kenwood, but this is a solid amp. It looks great, and it puts out very well.
I was slightly disappointed at the lack of a bass remote(very useful), and the adjustment knobs were difficult to access. But like I said, If you're setting your first system up, this amp will treat you well.

Kenwood Quality
I purchased this amp for the class D series and match up to my excellon reciever. To fire my 12" CVR dual 4 ohm. A perfect match it was. No need for a remote boost control. Take advantage of the KW reciever controls. This 8105D is running at 2 ohms. With a little adust its totally pounds. True watts. Looks so killer in design. Never even gets hot. Just wire it up correctly give it perfect ground the proper volts. I gave it shurken from Sonic. I highly recommend. You wont be disappointed. It pushes my 12 so hard my door seals will leak water in on a heavy rain day. Thanks Sonic.

Great beginner's amp
I've owned this amp for a few months now, my first amp. Have to say it really kicks for the price its at. Have it powering one Kicker CVR 10". Already not enough for me, so I'm saving up about $3000 to sink into a serious system now that I've learned the basics and am confident in my own abilities. For the guys that say it cuts out on them, monitor your voltage because if you are running this on stock electricals (no "big 3" upgrade etc) then you are experiencing voltage dips likely down to 11 volts. First off this means the amp is working much much harder to provide the same output, and second off it means that you arent getting as much power to your sub as you could.
Putting in a second battery or possibly just a capacitor may help a little but if you want that big of power you are going to need a more expensive amp.
I have yet to do any real upgrades to my own equipment besides a cap (which was like a bandaid on a cut artery) and even just my 10" CVR gets anemic for power at a certain level.
If you are serious about your BASS then you will want more from this amp. I would say unless you are willing to upgrade your electrical system, go with a better amp such as the KAC-9105D.

Kenwood KAC-8105D
I got this amplifier second hand about a week ago. It was used gently, but still the newest model. First things first, Kenwood has always put out pretty good equipment. They're like Alpine or Pioneer, but cheaper. Right now, I'm running them to two ten inch Alpine type E's in a massive ported bandpass box which makes those little guys pound like the cops with a search warrant. (It might be because they are in the backseat of my 84 Z28 which has about as much storage space as your back pocket). The sound is still very clean you can tell its a quality amp. It stays true to its power ratings for sure, and you can crank it for days and have no trouble. In my opinion, if this amp blew on you, you wired it wrong. It's not the 5000 watt blah blah. But for a good amount of clean bass, this amp is worth it for sure. I would consider buying more Kenwood equipment because of the quality and craftsmanship of this amp.

Ahhhh My First Amplifier
For what it is, its great if your just getting into car audio and want something to make your car beat, it serves that purpose perfectly. Its only real fault is that its ENTIRELY to power hungry to only push out 500 watts, the purpose of the 500 watt system is to be just powerful enough to shake stuff around, but not quite comp worthy. Or (if your like me) to add some extra low end to aid the musicality of your car. You really shouldnt have to do any extra to maintain a 500 watt system, good wires and stock everything else should do the trick. Still, this amp gave me some good times in my prelude, i most definitely recommend it if your looking to get into the game.

Definitely an instant classic in modern car audio
Bought this Kenwood amp not knowing what to expect, as I had never owned anything from Kenwood's "Performance Series" line of car audio products.
Let me tell you. . It's definitely an instant classic.
Not many other amps out there can promise the same wattage for the same dollar (except maybe HiFonics, and even then you know it's not true). Being CEA compliant, I have full faith that this amp does what it says it does. It seems a bit power hungry for just 500 watts RMS though, as it makes my lights dim depending on the gain setting. I use it for occasional musical enjoyment, not really everyday use. I don't have a capacitor, nor have I done the "Big 3" upgrade. Having said that, a true enthusiast should probably do these before purchasing this. The sound is amazing. Clean bass no matter what you're playing. The settings are simple to use, yet functional. The overall design of the amp is classy, in my opinion. Overall a solid, great value for plenty of good sound. Would recommend in a heartbeat.

Good amp!
I've had this amp for about a month now,and Im completely satisfied with it. Never experienced any of the heat issues others have talked about. In fact its barely even gotten warm expect for when I had my gains set wrong and was pumping it hard for about an hour(even then, it was still barely warm). Then again, I have it matched perfectly RMS wise to a 300rms Infinity sub. I also added a PAC-LC1 remote to it, and I'm enjoying it now more than ever cuz I can dial in just right amout of bass to go with different types of music now. I recommend the PAC-LC1 to anyone whos amp doesn't have a remote or sub control on their head unit.
But back to the topic...if you're looking for a good entry level/budget amp, this ones got u covered! Look no further. This amp is solid, it puts out a clear signal, and its priced right.

For the money, cannot go wrong
I have owned this amp for almost a year and overall considering the price I would recommend it. I have it hooked up to 2 10" Polk Momo (300 rms) series subs at 4 ohms and have recently put it in my car setup with same speakers but set at 2 ohms. Both configurations run well. The amp has only gone into protect mode once at high volume. Only had to turn it off for 10 seconds and all was well again. It never gets hot unlike my 4 channel Hifonics amp. The one thing that would make it better but I guess for more cost would be to have screw type 4 gauge wire inputs for both the ground and power. Also wish the gain & freq controls were on the top. Once you put the top cover on, the controls are next to impossible to get to.

Not so great
I have this amp hooked up to One Powerbass 2XL-15D 15 'subwoofer. IT OVERHEATS ALOT. I have the gain turned to about 1/4 power and it will overheat after about 15 min.

Better then KAC 8103D
The before amp I blow the voice coils of it and I thought that it supposed to protect itself but it did not. It was kind of my fault that I wired it up using one OHM and it over powered without heating. I learned my lesson and this amp works better and louder and cleaner. The problem that one person had was that the person did not set the amp up because I had the same problem with it turning off after one song. If you set it right it will last a really long time without even heating and still pounding hard. I even was able to set it so that my lights don't dim when it is pounding hard because I don't have a capacitor yet. I love my new amp and how it is smaller than the other one I had. So be careful and follow instructions and remember to wire up the amp right and set it right to make it last longer. At almost max volume, I believe like 75% this thing was shacking everything in my garage and house and my garage is not attached to my house there is a 15' difference between my house and garage. For future reference don't play two amps without a capacitor for long because it will try to kill your car because of the overload on the Alternator. This is only at peak performance of the amps. So now I am running a 400 watt Kenwood four channel amp powering four 60 watt Kenwood speakers and 1000 watts Kenwood duel mono amp powering two 500 watts 12" subs and no overheating if set right.

Great amp. Sylish, too!
I used this amp to power 1 alpine sws-10d2 sub. I have the sub wired to 4 ohms, which gives it 300w rms. Even though I don't have it running the whole 500w rms, there is still plenty of power to rock you car and shake the mirrors.
As for the design of the amp, it looks very cool with the blue and red lights on the top. My only prblem with the amp is that the wires and control knobs are on the same side of the amp. The way my amp is mounted, it makes it difficult to adjust the bass when I first set it up. After it is tuned though, its not as much of a problem.
Overall, this amp is a great investment, and it still has plenty of power left for adding another sub in the future!

So now i got 2 of these badboys but I traded the Lincoln in for a Mustang so I had to lose the big box with 4 10's. I'm pushing two MB Quart 12's now (rhs something) the motor actually comes through the speaker. I wanted to stress quality over quantity on the bass side and room in the trunk was also a consideration. so a bandpass box with a kicker cvr 10 dvc 4ohm paralleled to 2 ohms and a kenwood kac-8104d pushing 500 watts. sound quality is excellent and it will vibrate the trunk, rear window, dash , seats if needed. i originally ordered the 8103d, because of all the good reviews, but due to backorder i was sent the 8104d being a little unsure as it just came out in Feb 08, i decided to give it a try. its about 30% smaller than its predecessor with the same watt rating and also has auto amp on when you use the high level inputs. I ran it really hard for about 20 minutes and it didn't even show any signs of warming, very impressed with this amp now get your own!!!!

Nice value
I' am running this amp to the Jackhammer dual 12" ported enclosure. I have had this setup for a couple of years now and I' am very impressed. I run it in a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero Sedan with two Bi-Amplified SoundStream 6X9s run by another amp in the rear deck. I listen to rock only no rap. This set up is pretty loud I must say and very reliable I have had 0 issues. the amp is screwed to the back of my enclosure and sits between the enclosure and the rear of the rear seats. I never have any issues with clipping or overheating. I would recommend this amp.

Attention!!!
I first got one of these amps, being an avid believer in their speakers which i still am. My kenwood 5x7s and my headunit have treated me well. But i have gone through two of these specific amplifiers in less than 6 months. And my friend burned through his excellon 1700w amp very quickly. In short do not buy kenwood for amplifiers everyone i talk to in the audio business has told me never to buy their amps because they know they'll eventually burn out.

Excellent value!
I purchased the 8105D to power a DVC 12. The amplifier performs flawlessly and remains acceptably cool while hard driving the 12 and it's overall quality is comparable to higher priced units. For someone who has a receiver without sub-woofer controls, a remote would be a plus but I would still recommended the amplifier to anyone.

I have this paired with two 12 inch kicker comp single 4ohms. its wired at 2 ohms and it rattles my car. After my experience with this I'm definitely buying another Kenwood amp.

Kenwood KAC-8105D
I had it running 2 12" Kenwood 3012 and it would cut out if you turned up the volume too high. It made them hit, but it tried to push more power than it could handle so it turned off. It gets really hot too.

Nice Amp
Overall this has been a pretty good amp. The only problem I really ran into was it going into safety mode when I turned it up too loud.

Great for a Budget, Not for a powerful system
If you are powering not so powerful subs, I would say get this amp. If you are on a serious budget and
Want something that will give you some power, I would say get this amp. If you are wanting serious Bass
That will rattle your windows, I would say look else where.
I purchased this amp because I was on a budget at the time and I really wanted to have something powering my subs, wish I would have waited but for now it works. I am using this amp to power 2 12" Kicker Crv's and those poor subs are under powered. Currently my gain is Turned ALL the way UP and they still are not hitting as hard as they should. I am going to save up for the Kicker 750.1 which I have heard/read/seen is one of the better amps to match these subs...
Pros: Great Price, Great for a smaller system, doesn’t overheat even with gain on Full, Simple design.
Cons: Doesn't give the power needed for a powerful sub
All in all I would recommend this is you're on a budget or if you have a smaller system. But I would much rather save up the hundred or so more dollars for a more powerful amp.

Quality Product
I got this amp teamed up with the audiocontrol epicenter, kicker kx3 and a 1200W 12" pioneer sub in a vented enclosure tuned to 24hz and this thing rocks. What more can I ask for; looking for quality and not quantity, look no further.

great amp for anyone who loves bass
ok first off i live in the desert so its hot 24/7...so the amp and everything in the car is gonna be before i even start it.
looks- the amp looks sleek and sexy...small but packs a punch...dont be fooled by its size..thats all i can say about that.
durability-this amp hits pretty hard..im running it at 2ohms ..i have two 12' sony xplods in a bandpass box and every thing in my car is falling apart from the bass..but you gotta remember not to turn the gain all the way up..halfway will do...the guy who left the review saying his amp overheats after one song!!!..come on ,,he probably has his gain all the way up. and f.y.i. i beat this amp everytime i drive...my neighbors say they can hear me coming a block away...and at stop lights people are always looking behind them to see whos making all the noise...i love this amp.
bottom line its a sweet amp..if your a bass junkie like me and want some thump when you drive then this amp is for you...if you want to win bass competitions then your gonna need something more powerful than this...but hey 500 watts rms is ok wit me...p.s. careful, police dont like all the noise this amp makes...ive gotten two tickets for disturbing the peace..lol..so pound your subs wisely.

No bass knob
No bass knob... Other than that, did its job for the years that I've had it. Had it powering to Kenwood 12's. Nowadays I'm running an rp3500.1. Super major difference.

Great Amp
Bought this late 2010 and powered a Pioneer 12" sub. Now I have it running two 10" kicker comps (10C104 i believe) and they rattle my whole car!! I did have some dimming lights, but after installing a 3 farad cap and a higher amperage alternator that fixes that.

best bang for your buck
I tried ordering the older 1000w kenwood amp, the previous model, it was like 100 bucks, when i opened my package they gave me the updated amp, which was a surprise, at least in a good way.

Great amp!
I have this amp powering a JBL GTO-1214 sub at 4 ohms. It rattles my car with no distortion whatsoever. It was definitely a good buy.

Decent Amp
This amp is a bang for the buck kind of amp. It shorts out a lot even when tuned down, all because of stupid "protection mode"... really embarrassing when you show friends and it just stops outta nowhere. Get this amp if you are powering a low wattage sub.

Great Amp
I've had this amp for about a year now, I've had 4 systems since then; 2 12" duals, 2 12" kicker comps, 2 12" kenwoods, and 3 12" rf p1's wired about 1.34ohms and this amp has handled every one of these. I'm definitely keeping this amp around.

Kenwood Amp
This is a real good amp. I could use a more powerful amp but this one pushes my Kicker 12's pretty good. It hasn't overheated since I had it and its mounted on my kicker box just behind my backseat in my Lincoln LS.

Solid amp
Im using this to push a 12" P3, and this definitely gets the job done. I'm breaking the sub and the whole car rattles at half volume. Powers the sub really well, and has yet to overheat. The red and blue lights on the amp look tight in my trunk too

Very Nice! It should cost more!
I'm very happy with the 8104D. Powers a pair of 10 inch medium duty Kenwood subs very well. My subs aren't capable of bass that would blow out windows, and I didn't expect the amp would change that. The amp make the subs hit with good volume and quality though. For the money, I don't think you could do any better. This model doesn't have an internal cooling fan, but I've never had any sound cut out, and it's never felt more than warm to the touch.
It is my first Kenwood amp, but I've installed several amps over the years.
My ratings below take into account the price.

non-stop beat!!!!
i had many amps before, somehow or another they ended up dying..i guess i like to push these amps to the limit..this amp has the the watts to take it..i drove 10 hours to Oregon non-stop with the beat knocking ,not once did it let me down.

Well..
This thing overheats and cuts off too much at 4 ohms, I cant even imagine at what its like at 2 ohms..the good thing is that when it is pushing my subs they sound great in my ported box! i would recommend this to anyone that is just trying to get by. When it plays, it will rattle ur rear view mirror. have it pushing two kenwood 12s :D. It is very small and fits just about anywhere! hehe.

Amazing
I bought this and I'm using it with two Kenwood KFC-W3011 1200w 12" subs, and wow, this powers them so well they rattle your teeth loose.

Best amp I have ever used
I bought this amp a couple days ago. I had the amp lift (2) 12" kicker comp subwoofers on a 2004 gmc yukon ... 10 MIN AFTER I GOT IT INSTALLED I GOT PULLED OVER AND GOT A TICKET FOR LOUD MUSIC the police officer told me he could hear it from blocks away.. Sounds excellent

Great improvement
This amp is powering a 10" sub woofer in my boat. Prior to this, the boat manufacturer installed the sub without an enclosure and bridged a 4 channel amp to give it 150 watts. I made a tremendous improvement adding this amp and an enclosure for the sub. Can't wait to add a second sub!
Purchased this amp, had it shipped 2nd day air and still paid less than what I would have paid for a similar amp at an electronics store. Will purchase from Sonic Electronix again.
