I purchased the remote because my stereo mounts in my glovebox, I didn't want to have to open the glovebox, every time I wanted to adjust the volume, it gets really hectic in my boat when a good fish is hooked :)

On my boat the stereo is inside the glovebox, so having this mounted next to the helm makes it much better so I can increase the volume, as I increase speed, or mute the sound if I need to, easy hookup, and looks great ,
