Great Product

Exactly as advertized. I can plug my Ipod or my iPhone directly into my car stereo and control the device by my stereo.

Highly recommend - use it daily and have had no issues at all.

Great Product

The Kenwood iPod cable works flawlessly- much better than the Pioneer cable in another system I have.

good value, no shuffle option?

The only bad thing about this item is that I cannot figure out how to use the shuffle option if there is one. Other than that...great value! Item works great!

Need Playlists

This is a great product for use w/ personal playlists. If you have a lot of songs on your ipod, navigating by artist, album, or song name can be frustrating as the headunit takes a second or two to display each selection as you scroll through the list. A great product for anyone who likes to use random.

3-line display is great on my kdc-x889 - displays song info and playlist.

works like it says it does

I would definitely recommend this product. I only wish it charged the iPod.

Don't bother

It's a nice plug and play fit for a Kenwood head unit but it doesn't charge my ipod touch and searching through music is very painful and tedious process

Good for what it's meant for

The Kenwoo KCA-ip500 is good for what it does. It allows you to play your ipod's music in your car. The controls are quite simple; however, i would recommend that you make a playlist of songs. I've had a point where i didn't make a play list and i had no choice but to randomize the songs. The Kenwood KCA-ip500's one major con is it's a pain to scroll down the artist or song you want to hear. If you have patience, go for it. When it comes to audio quality, this interface is great. My speakers pump out nothing but clear sound and I thought that having the iTrip was good enough. Don't regret buying this product because it's worth it!

Kenwood iP500

The install is pretty straightforward even though I'm not particularly good with tools or stereo stuff. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed about is that my 4th generation iPod Touch doesn't allow charging with this cable. Other than that, really great!

OK

It`s ok product. But the wiring is to short. It is mounted in a AUDI A3 as is a small car. And even in this car it was short:(

Worth It

The Kenwood KCA-iP500 is well worth it, it charges and lets you control your ipod through your stereo deck, although you can only search or scroll through your music most generally through a 2 din deck, or a flip out or hang down.

KCA-iP500 for PNAV-6019

I purchased this unit to go with a Kenwood PNAV-6019 that I purchased at the same time. The system was for my wife's 2004 Volvo S40. The ipod adapter was by far the easiest item to install. A couple of points:
1. The cable from the adapter box to the head unit is only about 3 ft long, so the box has to go near the head unit.
2. The cable from the adapter box to the iPod is long. It would easily reach down the length of the center console and into its storage box. I chose to rout it into the glove box.
3. It integrates seamlessly into the menu control of the 6019, although I am still trying to figure out how to get it to list the album/song titles.
4. There are two DIP switches that must be set on the adapter box prior to installation. I found the written instructions a bit difficult to follow, but sufficient. However, a visit to the site recommended in those instructions proviedes extremely clear help on setting the switches based on which items it interfaces with.
5. The sound quality is awsome through the 6019!

It works

I have had this interface for some time now. I have it connected to my MP-5032. It works okay, but it is kind of slow in displaying the info on the head unit. If you own a Kenwood you have two choices that I know of to hook up your iPod. one is the cable that plugs into your earphone port, or two being this unit. I have had both and would recommend spending the extra cash for the interface.

Simply amazing

Kenwood really hit the nail on the head with this one. Flawless connectivity and sound quality between my iPhone, the ip500 and my Kenwood KDC-MP238. Works perfect. my only suggestion is use playlists. I always use playlists no matter what but people don't and you cant scroll through songs, at least on my unit you can't.

A great buy here!

My only issue was the price, other manufacturers charge 1/4-1/5 what kenwood wants, but their head units are simply amazing.

sounds great!

It took me about 2 minutes to install this and I love it, its probably not great if you are looking for 1 song in 1000s but since I usually just set it on random and let it go its fine. Readout is great after I used a bit of freeware to bulk rename the ID titles to match the filename format I like. Its a great deal considering there is really no real option to it with the sound quality.
