awesome

Excellent radio...I had previously owned a Kenwood (132) and it died after 3 years. I purchased the extended warranty with this radio, and so far everything has worked like a charm. The USB port is handy and the fact that it came with a free remote made this an awesome buy. Overall quality is great, and would recommend this to anyone looking for a Kenwood who doesn't want to break the bank.

works great

The only issue I have with this head unit is that it starts clipping at a lower volume than other pieces i've had. still sounds pretty nice for the price.

All I wanted, good price as well!

I just got it in the mail today. I got it on time. I had ordered something else and had to call sonicelecytonix and they were very helpful, understanding and polite. Awesome customer survice. But, to the point, this was a good deal. The set it easy to put together and sounds amazing. Plays all my usb drives, hardrives, cellphone, ipod, mp3 player music. Made my stock system sound even better. Looks nice. Easy to work with. Pops right off so you can hide it or take it with you. Great deal. I saw some in an audio store, same one, for 169.99.

Best

Its the best damn radio for the price, comes with everything you could possibly need for a single sub system. The menus are a bit tricky but you get used to it quickly. I have 3 of them, one in my daily driver, one in the beater, and one in the wheeler that is constanly surrounded by super fine dust... 2 years still no problems.

Great Value for sure

I really love this stereo system. I love the mp3 playing ability. I bought a 1990 mazda miata b4 summer and the stereo was pretty bad...My husband installed this and it was so nice. I ended up ordering new speakers because this stereo was blowing out my old crappy speakers in my miata. I also ordered speakers from sonixelectronix....I will have to say I would for sure buy from them again!! Great product!!! My husband wants the same stereo for his car now after hearing mine :)

awesome radio

I bought this radio 2 mths ago and i did not regret it. I install it in my 04 Sorento and make my factory radio sound like crap! Features r nice but u have to play around with it to know it well. I hook up my iPod which have 2 options of USB or AUX and they work awesome and u could use ur iPod to scroll through ur musics instead of radio itself. For the price, Im very happy

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP338).

I have had no problems with this cd player. The usb flash drives are way better than cd's because they don't skip when theirs massive bass and it sounds so much better. This is an awesome cd player

Here's a unit with some inner beauty

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP338).

The MP338 is a fine unit for anybody looking for a basic stereo with great audio quality. This unit looks very similar to the KDC-MP438U, which is to say it's EXACTLY the same, but lacks a USB port. The USB port-shaped space right next to the AUX port, which is hidden behind a silly flip up door, just makes it painfully obvious you're using a stripped down unit.

The display is BRIGHT, and that might be a problem because the MP338 only features a manual dimmer. The controls are plentiful, but simple enough to get a hang of. The sheer number of options can be daunting, but not necessarily overly complicated. You can even regulate the audio levels across the sources.

Kenwood forgot to include their famous Attenuator button on the faceplate, but instead places it on the included remote. But who needs a remote control for a device that's 2 feet away from you?

The included amplifier is efficient and clean-sounding. The front panel aux input, especially with the little flip-up door is clumsy.

The MP338 is fine unit and is tough to pass up for the price.

Nice budget deck

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP332).

Just got this deck a few weeks ago and the install went smoothly. The deck looks great and performs great as well. The buttons took a little getting used to but the manual is very helpful. The only complaint is how the unit opens; it feels cheap and kind of like it's going to fall off. You put in CDs the same way you remove the faceplate which I don't like. I highly recommend it for the price.

awesome radio

KENWOOD kdc-mp345u

I have owned this head unit for quite some time now and it does everything I need it to, the USB port is nice to have because it automatically tunes your iPod/MP3 player just like iTunes does so there's no playing with the sound controls. It made my stock 6x9s sound clearer and crisper with no distortion. And even though I bought mine from B*** B** for $160 I still think it was worth every penny it also runs my 2 12" Alpine Type R's like a dream.

I recommend this head unit to anyone with serious audio equipment

Great product, Good Value.

Has met my expectations for a replacement system for my truck. I do recommend it to anyone looking for an in-dash replacement. The only negative for me is that the clock does not display with the radio off and the truck ignition on.

Kenwood head unit

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP342U).

I recommend this head unit for it's great value for all it offers. The USB port in the front dash is a must for mp3 tunes! 2 pre amp outputs and song title text display screen are great options. The controls are not super user friendly to navigate. I consulted the manual a few times to set audio controls exactly how I desired. Overall great sound and good price on a great brand. My other car has a similar Sony head unit and it's very user friendly.

Front usb is nice but has its cost

For the most part this deck is awesome. My only complaints is accessing the folders. On the deck you can only skip forward or use the index feature. To skip back a folder you have to use the remote.

My other complaint is for the USB connection. After 6 months of use, the port becomes loose and the USB face plate needs to be replaced.

The sound customization options are really good. Has good bass response.

I bought this deck for the USB access. The cheapest brand name available, so for value I give it 5 stars.
The design needs a back button and the USB needs to be designed to last.
It fails on the durability

My advice to anyone who wants USB, is to buy a deck with rear USB. You can always replace a cable, but finding a face plate can be impossible rendering this deck useless for USB once the port is broken.

I still own the deck, but the USB does not work any more unless the car is parked. I will be getting another deck soon.

Kenwood KDC-MP345U

I would recommend this to deck to anyone.
My car is a 2003 civic, with the install kit and wiring kit it fit right and looks good.
The deck sounds great even with the stock speakers.
I really like the USB port ( can use flash drive or MP3 player).
The only downside I have found is it is hard to see the display in bright sunlight.
The value of this deal was great. $120.00

Great except display

I am very happy with this head unit except the screen is very difficult to read whenever the sun is out whether I have it set to dimmed mode or not. Everything else about this unit is EXCELLENT. I would in future get one of the "blue" screens with white text for a head unit display.

extremely pleased

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP342U).

this is my first stereo set, but i am somewhat of a music enthusiast and i know computers and technology very well.

the radio is very easy to use and the directions couldnt be much easier to follow. the only problem is depending on the radio antenna on your car. you may need to purchase an adapter, but thats not kenwoods fault cuz almost every car uses a different style.

i love the colors and design of the set. it doesn't feel cheap like the sony, jvc, etc. i felt when messing with them at different electronics stores. this one felt solid and i love it. the numbers are illuminated with red. i didnt realize it until after i bought the unit.

the only reason i gave it 4 stars under features is because it didnt come with an hd radio set, but with my car...being a vw...it doesnt have much space for it in the space. but yea...overall a great set. highly recommend.

Perfect

Love this head unit. It fit right in my 2006 Escape, no problem. Wired my subs and front speakers without any trouble whatsoever. In fact, I bought another one of this exact model for my father for last Christmas.

My favorite feature: the hands on iPhone control. I've been in contact with those receivers that force you to search for your songs via the knob, and I HATE them. This receiver thankfully has an option to turn that off- as I cannot be arsed to multitask something as important as driving and scrolling through 10000 songs on my iPhone.

The bad: It will not play voice calls through the speakers in the car, and will mess up your call if you plug it in whilst talking. Also, sometimes is fussy with ipods/iphones it has not plugged into yet.

Great headunit, sound quality is awesome. Nice aux and usb input. Simple to use, looks nice. Have had it for almost 2 years and it works just like the day I got it. My system started shorting and it went straight in to protect mode to prevent damage so that is also a nice feature.

Awesome Head Unit

For the price I paid for this head unit, the quality and easy use has got this Kenwood extremely under rated. I own one and love the clear quality of sound that my speakers have now. So all i can say if you need a great head unit to start off with, this would easily be a great buy.

Great Overall Value

I have installed this stereo in many cars and hopefully will in many more to come. For the price you cant beat the dual RCA outputs and the USB port. Also the search function works great on iPods! All of my customers loved this stereo and it was also very easy to get use to. Highly recommended!

Fantastic!

Definitely an amazing unit. It retails for $350 here (Toronto), so the price is amazing. I purchased it today, and installed it tonight. It is so easy to install that I (I have never installed a deck in my life) installed it in 30 minutes, by flashlight. Seriously loud, and makes even factory speakers sound amazing.

Excellent cd player

I just received my cd player yesterday and couldn't wait to install it. I was blown away how good it made my stock honda speakers sound, how many adjustments you have and how well the usb direct works. I am using a 8gb flash drive and reads my music with ease. I am so happy with this purchase and thank you Sonicelectronix for fast shipment, great price and a great product. You have a customer for life.

Awesome!!!

This system sounds awesome!!! I installed this on a 1996 Dodge Intrepid with the factory Infinity sound system. If you have the Infinity Speakers and it sounds bad, it is definitely the head unit, that head unit is not even half the quality of the speakers. This unit has very deep bass with the bass booster. The bass booster has two levels, and off. I personally think that the level 1 sounds better, but that is up to you. I was worried when I ordered this unit because it was a cheap price, but do not be afraid, this is an awesome unit. I love the Scoshe installation kit, it makes it SO easy. You can sit down at the dining table with the soldering iron, solder, shrink tubing, lighter and electrical tape and you are done in 15-20 minutes. I highly recommend taping the wires into a bundle. It looks like a professional did the wiring after that is done. The dash kit is great too. It looks very professional!!! Sonic Electronix has great prices and is very easy to order. I will recommend Sonic Electronix to all my friends.

Good for the price

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP342U).

Pros:
USB Aux input works with Ipod (not the Shuffle, though) & thumb drive
FM & AM are separate buttons
Volume knob instead of buttons/rocker switch
Six preset buttons off to themselves, though I wish they were bigger
Price!!

Cons:
Bass/treble adjustments in with too many other adjustments
Sound quality is good, but my older Aiwa sounded better
Bass boost adjustment not fine enough, either too much or not enough
Too many tiny little buttons grouped around the volume knob
Display disappears in sunlight

Despite having a few little issues, this is a good radio, especially for the price. I'm fairly happy with it. If you're bass happy, you'll love it. If you're looking for a head unit that'll play songs from your Ipod or thumb drive, and on a tight budget, this is a great choice...

Overall Great Product

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP342U).

I recently purchased this head unit and just installed it yesterday. The installation was pretty easy and it looks great. I have a 99 Ford Ranger and this cd player really made it sound like I had some premium speakers installed when reality they are just stock. I haven't looked at the manual yet on how to configure it but just by playin with it I have gotten used to it pretty quickly. The base boost is nice and with it on I am able to put my regular base down to -3 and it still rocks. The USB port in front is really helpful with my ipod nano 5th gen. It displays the title and album name right on the front and you can search for songs straight from the cd player. It comes with a nice little tray that sits under the cd player where you can put other cds, your ipod, etc. For the price, including shipping and installation kit, you really can't beat it. Def recommend it.

Very Good, but glitches

The following review is for a previous version (KDC-MP342U).

This is a very good product for the price. The USB port is awesome and easy to use. I have not used the AUX input because I can use the USB port, and how many things do you really need to plug into your car stereo? The receiver has lots of power. The volume goes up to 35: I rarely go above 25 and never above 30 (bear in mind that I am connected to some heavy duty speakers, not sure how much sound you would get from lesser speakers.)
A couple glitches: 1) you cannot have more than approx. 200 songs in a folder on a USB device, it simply will not see anything beyond that. 2) "Full" random only applies to the folder you are in, not all the folders so you can't have more than 200 songs in full random at any time, still 200 songs lasts a long time. 3) It has developed a glitch where it momentarily powers down when I use any of the controls or push on the face plate. Annoying, but it picks up right where it left off once it cycles back up and usually only does it a couple times. Certainly not worth uninstalling, shipping back for repair, and reinstalling. It has great sound and good power and I can put all of my music on an SD card and take it with me everywhere I go. I would recommend this unit to anyone who isn't easily annoyed by little glitches.

Brutal

All I have to say about this product is, for the money and for the work it does this is one of the best or even the best stereo in its price range, easy to use, nice features, only one thing is if you plan on using older ipods for this system dont go after the nano 1st gen because it will not read it i have an ipod mini and it wont read it even though the specs say it will.

great CD/iPod player

this is one of the best CD player's I have ever owned, the price was a bargain compared to local retail stores but this head unit is packed full of features. The iPod connection is fantastic, my Touch works perfectly with it and on top of that the sound quality is amazing, especially with all of the tweaking you can do. Also, this unit pumps out plenty of power, my speakers can get so much louder and clearer than before. I recommend buying this system.

Very Satisfied

Very happy with the functioning of the unit. Occasional glitch on USB thumb drive which requires power off/on to fix. I listen to a lot of audio books copied to flash drive, and one problem is that the files are not sorted using the full name, only the first 8 or 10 characters, so that renaming is sometimes required to get the chapters to play in order.
Have applied the software update, but that doesn't solve the problem.
