Great Price

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

I have used these speaker sets in two vehicles. Front and back in both. 2 pairs in a 2000 Nissan Altima GXE and 2 pairs in a 2000 Toyota Corolla VE. The Altima was an easier fit. The Corolla however, I had to make custom 1/4 inch thick mounting rings to get the front speakers into the doors. Without the rings the speakers are too small for the factory speaker wholes and also they would have sat too deep and the window would hit the magnet. As far as the quality, these are nice factory replacement speakers. They are priced very respectably and perform well. They could use more power to get the most out of them but a CD deck will power them and will exceed the sound quality of the factory speakers. The build quality is alright and they have a nice look to them. Overall, for the price you get what you paid for and then some.

Not Even Close :(

I bought these recently as a stock replacement for my Honda Accord front door speakers. I bought a Kenwood head unit as well as a pair of Kicker 6 x 9 3 ways for the rear deck. I bought these speakers based on the specs (decibels per 1 watt, freq response and power handling). On paper, they matched the kickers and should really sound nice. SADLY.....the specs are a complete mislead (being nice). These speakers (and I have had a bunch in 51 years) are truly the worst I have ever heard. You could not even hear them (at zero fade) unless you bent way over and lowered your head and you could barely tell they were playing. When faded to the front to bring them in.....the sound was flat and lifeless. when driven, they distorted and sounded like crap. I ordered a pair of CS-65 kicker 2 ways to replace them......and they ROCK! They ROCK at zero fade, set up a great presence and image, deep tight bass and can take a lot more than my Kenwood 22wpc headunit can deliver! With the kickers front and back.....no amp is needed. It is clean and solid and deep bass too! Don't but these speakers....I am sending them back. I am truly disappointed that a product with the Kenwood name performs on this level. They are cheap, cheaply built and perform worse. The Kickers are twice the weight of these, solidly built and perform 4 levels above!

KFC 1662S

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

I have these installed in the rear doors of my Subaru OBW, and they are powered by a 4 channel Alpine amplifier (75watts RMS @ 4 ohms). I don't sit in my back seat very often, well not sit anyway, but these do a nice job of complimenting the Polk db6501's that I have installed up front. For the price, you can't beat them, and the relatively shallow depth of the speakers allow for installs in my shallow rear door compartments.

Quality product

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

I bought 2 pairs of these speakers and have them on a 600 watt amp. They are being over powered by about twice there RMS and are taking it all day with no problems. Driving in 90 degree heat for 4 hours to the beach and they were working fine. They get loud too I didn't have an issue mounting them which was helpful.

The tweeters and nice on them I would say the strongest feature because on some songs it hurts the ears a little. They keep up with my subwoofer which is a Fi BL 12 on 1000 watts.

1+ years owned, still works like magic

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

These speakers are amazing, they were replacements to my 5 1/4" paper speakers in my jeep cherokee, and they work amazing. i got these before i had subs so i played with the bass on max and these speakers did a great job of playing the full range. I got these as a christmas gift in 09 and they still work great, now i have an amp thats pushin 1000 watts to my alpine subs and i can still hear the music over the bass, unless im really bangin the heck out of a song. GREAT PRODUCT!

Great Replacement/Upgrade Speakers

I installed these speakers in place of my factory ones in my Honda Accord. I am still using the stock head unit, but I can tell a huge difference in these versus the factory ones. The sound is much clearer and it was the best upgrade I have done to my car yet. Would highly recommend these to someone looking for a great everyday speaker.

Very crisp clean sound.

Can't go wrong for the price. I bought two pair. Put two up front two in back of my standard cab f150. Paired them with a 50watt per channel head unit that has full hpf and lpf abilities tune it to perfection. Once you tune the bass outta the highs they scream.
my system:
head unit: pioneer mp3 50x4
amp: HiFonics 1400watt
sub: 600 watt mtx 12" running at 2ohm
speakers: 4 Kenwood 61/2

Metal,Rap and EDM LOVES my system Very loud, shakes rear of cab.

Very Nice!

I bought these and have them hooked up to a kenwood headunit. These speakers sound very nice and clear. A huge upgrade over the stock bose speakers. I hear detail in my music that previously could not be heard. I recommend these for a nice low budget install.

Weak speakers.

I bought these as upgrades for my factory speakers and believe it or not the factory ones sounded better than these so I had to exchange it for a pair of MTX TN653's which also came from Sonic. Kenwood is a great product but I think it was only 35 watts RMS that's why it sounded weak. I also heard that these were entry level speakers so that might be a problem with sound enthusiasts.

Amazing Value, Great Sound

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

I used a pair of these to replace my factory rear speakers on my Tacoma, and what an amazing difference! Before, the sound did not go loud enough and the rear speackers contributed very little to the original system.

All I did was install these in the rear doors and disconnect the factory ones (in teh headliner) and the sound came alive incredibly. I now had fantastic volume and the base tones were deep and loud.

I had originally planned on replacing the head deck, and also adding a small base with an amp, but honestly, these speakers made such a great improvement that I may never get around to spending the money on any further upgrades.

Works Fine

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

Replaced stock front speakers, easy to do especially after google search for the process for my specific car. They sound good, better than stock, handle lots of power, but it made a much bigger difference to change the actual receiver/player itself. On the other hand, these are really inexpensive! So, good value, no down side, go for it.

These speakers are pretty straight, I just needed something to replace the stock speakers in the rear doors of my Xterra, I was extremely surprised with the performance of these speakers at 35 watts rms they sound great perfect for a budget or just a good rear fill in your whip

Not a bad shallow speaker

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1662S).

I\'m limited in what speakers I can put in my car, and I had to have something that had a low tweeter height and a fairly shallow basket. I found this Sport Series Kenwood, and gave it a try. It actually sounds pretty good for an inexpensive speaker. After about a week of normal usage, it was able to hit some of the lower notes of my music with no problem. The highs and mids are quite clear on it. It\'s a fairly sensitive speaker, so it works well just powered by my 17 by 4 RMS receiver. I wish it had a urethane or rubber surround, but at this price point, I can\'t be too picky. Good choice if on a budget or restricted in size.

Great lights and lows-especially like the bass coming from them, they fill my entire car with perfect pitch!

First after-market car system.

I recommend this speakers. At first I had them wired to my factory reciever, and they actually sounded the same as my factory speakers from before, exept the lows were not as deep or defined. Then, I bought a Kenwood reciever and wow. Big difference to the overall experience. Much crisper highs, mids are alive and the lows are accurate and decent, yet overall better bass then my old factorys. I am very happy with these Kenwoods, but not untill I installed the Kenwood head unit. I finally can play my music loud without a lot of distortion. That makes me very satisfied.I am not ashamed anymore to roll down my windows now. I have no complaints so far, and I have had these for two weeks.

Good Speaker for the price

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1660s).

Okay, i have these speakers installed in my rear deck. the sound is reproduce nicely by these speakers , however the bass does lack a little bit. These kenwoods provide excellent frequency response 35-22000khz (humans pick up from 20-20000). The bass lacks because the basket on these speakers are shallow, which is a pro if your limited in space (depth wise(. Overall, these are a nice upgrade from the 15watt rms speakers stock in my toyota, which these speakers helped dramatically improve the clarity of the sound.

Fits my 2005 Trailblazer

Bottom Line: It's a cheap speaker that fits in our 2005 Trailblazer and does what it's asked to do in providing audio to the rear passenger seat.

The right rear speaker died in our 2005 Trailblazer. I have zero automotive/trade skills. So I needed a part that was easy to replace. Searching the web for a video helped teach me how to take the door panel off (very easy) and for imagery helped me with wiring and install.

For a 2005 Trailblazer I did not know GM had a wiring harness on their speakers. If you order this and want a wiring harness then you'll need to search for one as well. Not having ordered the harness, I cut the GM harness off and used wire nuts to affix the Kenwood wires to the car wires. The Kenwood packaging had tamper stickers over the wiring instructions printed on the box (no paperwork shows you how to wire this speaker -- it's only a picture on the back of the box). Thankfully I was able to peel those stickers off to see the wiring diagram on the box.

The stock speaker frame has a peg hold that rests on alignment pegs on the door. I had to break these small pegs off as the Kenwood frame did not line up with the pegs. There might be an adapter ring out there, but it wasn't necessary for this simple install. Break off the little pegs and mount the speaker. The speaker did not PERFECTLY line up with the car screw holes. So one side is screwed flush and the other screw is resting against a leading edge on the Kenwood frame. The install holds, but it's not an exact fit.

The speaker itself sounds comparable to the factory speakers. I'm not a audiophile. So, blasting the speakers is not something I ever do. If you just need a cheap speaker to repair a dead one, buy this pair. It gets the job done. If you're looking for something to blow your windows to pieces and rumble the car next to you, then look for a review from someone who knows something about speakers.

kenwood 6 1/2

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1661S).

I bought these speakers and installed them in a 94 ford probe. They sound clean in the lower decibel ranges. They handle all the frequencies well. Appearance didn’t matter; I can’t see them in the factory locations. They provided the pre-terminated wire for easy hook up. I tend to spend a little more for the quality. This work fine for what I’m doing.

Good performance for Great Price!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1660s).

I have these speakers in my front doors of my car as of right now. They are quite decent speakers in comparison to worn out factory speakers. They sound quite clear and precise when ran off of the head unit. I wouldn't recommend these for someone who is looking for 1st class audio performance, but are perfect for someone who is looking for a cheap brand-name alternative to factory. I have enjoyed these for the past year, but I'm upgrading to Blaupunkt Velocity components and buying a 1000 watt 4-channel amp to go with them.

not a significant upgrade

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1661S).

I replaced 97 Rav4 stock speakers with these Kenwoods. Turns out that the stock location for the front doors could accommodate more depth than these slim speakers. I should have gotten regular speakers. The stock speakers were deeper, had larger magnet, and actually produced more bass than these Kenwoods. The highs were an improvement from the stock speakers, which were just full-range paper cone without tweeters.

great sound, good value

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-1661S).

have stock head unit with these in teh doors and kenwood 6x9's in the rear deck. Great sound for any kind of music (i listen to a pretty much every kind of music) good bass, hits clean and hard. good treb as well. mid range sounds great. good if you like decent bass, good mirange tones, but not pierceing highs. the highs are still very good sounding, and rich. i would recommend these speakers to anyone. great value, great sound. i would recommend a new head unit as well but still sounds great with stock head.
