kenwood 12" subwoofer

Kenwood subwoofers are the way to get great sound for a cheap price. Dont like the price scare you away from these fantastic subs i have bought many pairs of these subs for not just myself but also for many of my friends and my friends friends. These subs work great with the 9105D 2 way amp 2400 watt max output and gives you a hell of a hit when the bass drops. I stand behind kenwoods products and i am a very satisfied installer and owner of kenwood products!!!!

Eh..

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

My friend bought two of these hooked to a Kenwood 1800 watt amp. These subs are not even close to hitting 1200 watt. Maybe they hit 400, but they dont sound like it. My two Kicker comps hit harder than these with a 600 watt amp. 6 months later the Kenwood sub spider ripped off of the cone. Good sub, for a while, they don't bump.

Very Satisfying

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

I bought two of these subs and put them in a sealed box built to the specs given with the subs. I ran a RFL600D to these subs producing 600 RMS at 2 ohms to these subs. They HIT hard. Unfortunately one of the subs "fried". It was hard to explain but a month after install one of the subs started sounding funny so I unhooked the speakers then hooked them back up and one of the subs was permanently altered. The sub sounds OKAY in a box by itself but once i wire it up with another one..it sounds horrible. Good buy though and great performance

Great Bang for Your Buck

I originally bought one of these Kenwood KFC-W3013PS subs with a Kenwood KAC-9105D, so I was wired at a 4 ohm load @ 500 Watts RMS. I was using a sealed box from Sonic. I soon decided to get the max out of my amp and bought another of these subs and a double sealed enclose from Sonic. Now wired at a 2 ohm load. These things pound. Considering they’re rated for 400 Watts each and I’m pushing 900 Watts (Not bad though, that’s only 100 over – a pretty close match), they hold up nice. I haven’t experienced any clipping. They’ve handled everything I’ve thrown at them so far. How loud are they? Well, I’ve always liked to rate subs by things like; feeling the bass in your throat, moving your hair, tickling your nose, rattling mirrors, hurting your ears, etc. I’ve experienced all with these. My girlfriend said things in the house were rattling when I pulled up the other day. I don’t know what was rattling or how bad, but I know you can hear it in the house and farther. This system does pound. Kenwood is on their game this day and age though. You really get your money’s worth with them. I would definitely recommend these subs.

Amazing!

I bought 2 of these subs 6 moths ago during the black Friday sale. I've had 3 amps power these subs at 2 ohms and they have never let me down! Everyone turns there head to the amount of bass these bad boys produce! I drive an 01 camaro and i have these in there own separate boxes with 500 watts rms, can anyone say free back massage?

Get them, you will not regret buying this, i promise you.

Pro's-
Performance
Value
Durability
Amazing Bass!!!

Con's-
Maybe bulky-ness? This sub was too big to fit in my old box, so i had to put them in upside down.
Only problem is my system picks up engine noise, but thats not the subs fault.

THE BESTT!!!!!!!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

I have one of these in my basement. I connected it to a Lanzar Max 224 (1000w) amp and it Pounds!! if you think a cheep amp like Lanzar is not good quality, IT IS!! I couldn"t ask for a better amp for the price! If your wondering how to power a car amp in your house its REALLY EASY!!.. You need to get a PC power suply ($5) and search on Youtube: how to hook up car amp in home. theres tons of videos.

missleading sub

this sub really isn't even as good as a kicker comp. The hugh magnet cover makes the sub look kind of beefy but once you take it off there isn't much left. if you want to see what your really getting look at the oldest model. In an appropriate sealed box these subs will last but in a big ported box they will eventually bottom out and blow out.

HOLY ****

i bought two of these a few weeks back and have absolutely no regrets. i bought them to replace two 10s that i sold in the winter. I had no clue that they would BANG like they do. I wired them at 2 ohms. i paired them with a lanzar vector 3000.1 mono block. This amp, at 2 ohms, is rated at 2000 watts but obviously its not really true wattage so the subs are seeing around 1300 to 1400 watts. They vibrate my windshield wipers and my windows like CRAZY!!!!! I really think my trunk latch will break soon no joke. Get them you WILL NOT regret it.

Best Bang for Your Buck!

I've had two of these now for about a year and a half, and they are just as good as the day I first installed them in my 09 Hyundai Elantra. (probably a little better than when I first installed them because they're broken in now) What's nice about these, is first, CEA-2031 compliance on such an inexpensive sub. Next, is that its one way linear excursion is 15.1 mm, which you usually expect from SPL competition subs. Lastly, is that the rms power is in fact true. all these things I said I decided to buy a third one on Monday. I just finished building a dual front baffle sealed enclosure for them that has about 4.308 cu. ft. of airspace giving them 1.436 cu. ft. of airspace each (without driver displacement) so it should put out relatively tight controlled sub-bass frequencies. Overall, this is going to be the best bang for your buck!

Let me just start off like everyone else and say this is a good speaker for the price. I recently bought the kenwood package that came with the 2 12 KFC-w313s and a sealed box for 150, not a cent more. The shipping was free and only took 4 days. I got a 1200w planet audio mono runnin them at 2ohm 600rms and they already shake my mirrors, great price for clean deep bass.

Boom Goes The Dynamite!

Read other reviews on this product. Trying to find something that can compete with my old "Shaker" sub, until now! I currently have one and it being turned up not even a quarter on my headunit and halfway on my amp (still break in period for sub) shakes my Accord. If I get two will probably break some windows, or even just the one full power'd. This sub is a beast! Really pumps and is a great product! Out of the box you can tell this is one heck of a good time! Bass lovers enjoy!

Good bang for the buck

I bought this KFC-W3013PS to replace one I had that had a rattle. I thought it was a bad sub but now I'm thinking it's fine but I'm going to sell it since I bought this other one. Anyway, I think that's not too unusual to run into a problem like that with subwoofers that you're pounding 900 watts through, plus I over tightened when installing in the original box and cracked the plastic ring, so that could have something to do with it. Anyway, these subs have handled everything I've threw at them so far and they sound awesome. I think you get a lot for the price with these. But since one of them have had that issue I did rate them a little lower. I would still recommend them though. If you want to spend the money then buy JL or something. If you want a good system for a reasonable price then buy these.

My wife bought a pair of these in a bass package with a Kenwood kac-8105D amp and a sealed atrend enclosure and gave it to me for father's day last year. I have them installed in my 99 Toyota 4runner and they kick butt! They hit hard, sound great and haven't given me any problems. Been pounding out low deep bass every day for almost a year. Great sounding subwoofer. I bought this and hooked it up to a 300 watt 2 channel amp and the sub is just too much for this small of an amp. When pushing it the amp overheats and shuts off after about 5 minutes so i suggest at least a 500 watt amp. Overall a great product for the price.

Four of these!

I have four of these bad boys in a sealed box. The box is sitting at 6.0 ft^3 after displacement. They are wired down to one ohm on a Hifonics HFI 2000 watt RMS amplifier. These things are crazy! I'm shaking other peoples cars. Today, I parked next to a jeep and shook its soft top on the side closest to me and the backside! I can't wait to build my ported box this summer, then their true potential will show! I highly recommend these! Cheap, durable, and powerful!

Install in minimum 1.90 Cubic Foot PORTED box and you'll develop a permanent grin

Using a Kenwood KAC-7205 2 channel amp bridged to 1 channel for 500w x 1 RMS and a 2 farad DB Link cap. First started out with a 1.24 cubic feet sealed box and it hit hard. Very clean and responded great to several frequencies. Switched to a 1.93 Cubic Feet ported box and it sounds like I have 3 x 10's or 2 x 12's with no distortion. VERY IMPORTANT!! Use an online port length calculator to determine the correct size of your port. The wrong length will make a huge difference in sound. My slotted port opening is 4.75 tall by 2.5 wide and 11 inches long/deep. I have to show my friends it's only 1 sub before they believe me. Can't imagine what 2 of these would sound like.

Cheap, but great sound

I have been through many a subwoofer in my day. In recent history, I had a JBL sub that voice coils fell apart. I had a JL sub that lasted a few months before it came apart. I had a Boston Acoustic that just completely stopped making sound.

This Kenwood has outlasted most of those brands so far, and it sounds much louder and better bass than any one of the previous sub woofers. You cannot beat this speaker at this price anywhere.

Excellent sub for the price

So far (I've had the sub installed for about a week), this sub's performance has been surprisingly good. I did have high hopes, as it already has strong reviews - and I wasn't disappointed. I've had modest systems in the past, and this one blows them away. I have it in a factory-recommended 1.25 cu. ft. sealed box, and it sounds awesome (driven by an ATA 1200.2, part of a bass package from Sonic). I couldn't imagine having two of them in my truck.

Hits 139db in my Buick. tight and accurate, huge low end, and keeps up with metal too. I swear by these. they are great in small boxes, ported, huge boxes, sealed, ect. at all power ranges. I've tried 300 rms, 400, 450, and 500 it eats it all day. I put a 3 on features, cause it only comes in 4 ohms, and there is no DVC for wiring.

Best bang for the buck!

I bought two of these 12" Kenwoods, for my son's toyota Celica, and paired them with a Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D which is rated at 1200 watts rms at 2 ohm. These subs handle it with ease. I've been building systems since 1989 and have had some big systems, so I'm not easily impressed. They hit hard and deep enough to hurt my ears which isn't easy to do. Just remember don't go cheap on the amp, you can't have too much good clean power. It's when you ask too much from an amp when it starts distorting and clipping which will blow the best of subs. I'm running 600 watts a piece to these subs and they're only rated at 400. Just adjust the gain so they don't distort and you'll be good.

Big kenwood fan from years ago on the other hand just upgraded to 2 pioneer champion pro series 12" subs dual 4 ohm vc with 2 brutus 1200.1 mono block amps there pushing 900 watts rms at 2ohms to each sub. That's 1800watts rms all together so major change but loved the Kenwood. If you whant knock on a budget thats the way i would go.

Good subs, not bad for the price

They are good subs for the price, I was very pleased. However not even after 6 months of ownership one of the two i purchased has begun to blow. No bueno. And i'm not even begging to give them too much power, about 250 watts to each sub. So not a bad purchase, just wish they were a little more durable.

Great Value!

I purchased this as a package with this enclosure:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_951_Single-12-Sealed-MDF-Subwoofer-Enclosure-Belva-MDFS12.html

At around $100 it's a great value.

It is powered by a Sony Xplod 850W amp, and gives a nice wide range of performance and far superior to the 10" Xplod sub it replaced.

Powerful, yet tight and not boomy.

amazing sub for price and all around

I have one of these with a 1.23 cf box and an alpine 300 watt class d on it and it hits harder, a lot harder than my 460 watt triple 10" mtx blue thunder box did. All sealed boxes... this sub makes my nose itch at 3/4 system volume with the gain about 1/10th from 0. If I could get this bass output with a smaller box that would be even better. I have put test tones through it that have melted many a voice coil, but this sub doesn't flinch.

Great Sub!

This was my first sub. I put it in a sealed box because the sub doesn't get that low and wow do they sound amazing. This one sub shakes my car so hard and im waiting on another one that I ordered in the mail cause I wanted more volume out of it. I would recommend these subs to anyone who is starting off or is on a budget who wants bang for the buck and listens to a lot of different music. If you want to have your car flex like crazy or make hair tricks your better of saving some money and getting a 15" sub in a tuned box or 2 12" kickers, alpines, NXV, you know where im going with this its gonna cost you. But yeah the most important thing is to get a great amp to power these. I have an Alpine v12 (Mrd-m605) and it make my one bang hard cant wait for the second one to come.

Incredible Value

This is the first sub I ever owned, and I couldn't be happier with the high quality and durability it has given me. I started off with a single 3013ps as a Christmas gift last year, and added a second this summer. When paired with an able amplifier, these bad boys can make your ears ring (I have a Hifonics BRZ 1200.1D). My friends always want to ride with me because they are all in love with these subs! I've never had a problem with either sub, and have no idea how anyone could blow one of these LOL! While you won't win an SPL competition with these, I guarantee you WILL have the loudest and cleanest system at school/ work/ in the neighborhood..etc.

Don't be scared by the low price either!!! They are worth the money. Sonic, as always, has unbeatable prices!!!

KENWOOD KFC-W3012

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

I bought this sub awhile back to uprgrade from a 12" Sony explode. It's a decent sub, especially for the price you can't go wrong. Don't expect too much bump out of it. If your just looking for a good, clean , tight bass, this is a good starter sub for you. I didnt keep it very long, so im not sure on the durability of the sub, but as with any cheaper sub, dont try to over power it and you should be happy with your purchase. I would personally recommend always getting a dual voice coil sub opposed to the single just for my wiring options.

Top notch subwoofer

I have owned 3 of these speakers and none of them ever let me down. In the previous car I owned I had two 12" subs with a 1000 watt kenwood amp and it sounded great. The subs were used when I bought them and were about 1-2 years old but still sounded like new. I used them for about a year blasting music everyday and they still sounded new when I sold them along with the car. When I bought my new car I wanted some bass again so I went with another one of theses speakers. My current set up is one of these speakers and a 800 watt max amp and it sounds great in my hatchback. The speaker is super durable and sounds amazing. Nice clean loud hits with any type of music. I highly recommend this speaker over many other brands.

I had this sub hooked up to 400 watt rms (1200w max) amp and it sounded amazing. its been a over a year now and couple days ago amp suddenly went to protect on low volume. At first my thoughts were on amp, but it works perfectly with a different sub. Upon test I found that this sub dropped to 0.7 ohm impedance. I don't know what caused this type of failure, but until it failed I enjoyed every minute of what this sub was producing. Sad though that it lived as long as the warranty.

BA Subs!!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

These subs are F'ing hardcore. I have them running on a Nitro BMW-482 Amp and they hit extremely hard. I can hear the bass from one end of my property to the other side (5.5 acres btw) really well. If you get these subs you won't be disappointed. There cheap and the best for the price no doubt. Great for anyone who is starting to get into car audio.

Thumpers

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

I just installed these into my accord with a sealed box and an 1800 watt kenwood amp...these bump HARD. kenwood makes some of the best subs, and these subs are a perfect example of that. Very strong, and durable.

Good sub

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

The sound is fine, the only complaint I have is that the dust cover is pretty fragile. I dropped the screw driver on it from about 6 inches and it put a two inch long crack in it. It still sounds fine though. It looks really cool.

Great Value & Performance

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I blew my Alpine on my Kenwood amp...so I decided to try this product. I was not surprised. For the price and performance I have not had any problems. It works where the Alpine with the same ohms and watts did not. Im very, very pleased.

Going Strong

Bought this set up approx. 6 months ago; a set of Kenwood KFC-W3011subs,Sonic Sub Box 2SV12-GRAY, and a Kenwood KAC-7204 amp. Everything is still going strong. A good strong amp and subs for the price. The box is well built and sounds good.

Great Subs

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I have two of these hooked up to a kenwood amp running 900w RMS in my car. If you want decent base then you need only one of these. Two allows people to feel it outside the car. I built a ported box to close to manufacturers specs. I recomend a good ported ported box with these subs. I love these subs and they will probably out last my car. Can't wait to see the SPL numbers. These subs hit hard for the money. Not to mention they look awesome.

Decent for the price!

Heavy, Looks good, Sounds decent. I replaced 2 10" rockford R1S410s at 150 RMS a piece to two of these at 450 RMS a piece. Improvement over the 10s is marginal. Sounds good, takes some tweaking. But I can't help but feel like I could have gotten the same performance out of a comparably priced smaller sub.

I have pushed these subs 2 d max an haven't had any trouble wit them at all they can hold a lot of bass, if u kno wat u r doing u wont have any trouble wit these at all, unless if u put dem in a sealed box den u would (I've blown 1 b4) an it even hit harder den i have expected. i would recommend anyone 2 buy this sub at this value u cant beat it.

btw the amp only puts out 200 watts rms to each and they still pound.

Budget Build

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I own 2 of these, they are powered by a Hifonics BXi1606D. Each sub sees 2.25 cubes after displacement tuned to 36HZ, Subs are good if your on a budget. They pound at 60HZ, but anything below ~45HZ they are lacking. Subs are extremely stiff and are power Hungary. I can not emphasize enough on STIFF!
i was originally powering them off my ZX400.1 which is rated at 450wrms at 2ohms and it wasnt enough.
They now see 1100wrms from my BXi1606D which livened them up alot but the lows just arent there.

Great Buy

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

So all I can say is wow, these subs are amazing. But WOW.. WOW. First off, I got these subs cause they were real cheap and had a decent power rating, 400 RMS watts was what SonicElectronix had as the rated power. And for the price, that was insane. Can I say a deal? And its made by Kenwood so you know its gonna be made with quality and its gonna be reliable. I got a Sony XM-D9001GTR watt amp for 300 and put it in a dual ported box. I have an pioneer head unit. They Hit really hard and the cones make them look real classy. These are really loud and are very accurate. You cant get much of a better deal than these, whether you want accurate moderately loud bass or straight up loud bump to compete with your friends. You cant much beat the quality/response/accuracy/power rating/looks/ vs. the price on 2 12s. The trim is nice for if you wanna reverse the subs and maintain looks. and it looks insane reversed as well as regular. A pair of these babies will be sure to shake the car. Very happy with the subs.

SLAMS!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

I love this sub. I've had this puppy in my car for a year now and it still blows my mind! With a custom built ported enclosure (by yours truly) and a smart tuner, this thing will move mirrors. People say it blows, but that's because when you first get it it takes about a week to break in, and people don't know how to PROPERLY break in a new sub. But definitely a great sub for price! Looking to add more power though, my amp is a little engine that could and it just doesn't have that UMPHH. Other than that, great choice!

Wonderful subs

GREAT Subs for the price

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I have two of these subs in a custom made box running off a Kenwood 1000w mono-D amp, and the bass is immense. When the car is sitting in the driveway, and the bass is pumping, everything in my kitchen shakes!

Pros: Good price (especially here), good wattage rating, and great bass

Cons: Lots of cone noise at high volume, also bottoms at high volumes and low bass frequencies.

I would definitely recommend this subwoofer to anybody just getting into car audio. Or anyone who wants a good system for a low price.

An Excellent Subwoofer at an Even Better Price!!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I have this installed in the back of an 05' Toyota Corolla running at 400 watts RMS in the recommended sealed box enclosure and it is both incredibly LOUD and efficient, so much so that when I was setting the amplifier to operate it without clipping I had to plug my ears and I could even feel my nose hairs tingling from the vibrations!

This thing moves some serious air and looks great doing it with the pearl mica injection cone

I give it 5 Stars for both price and sound quality, you aren't going to get much better sound without getting a MUCH deeper wallet

Kenwood Sub

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

This is an extremely good sub. The sound quality, especially on a middle bass setting on a stereo with a middle boost setting on the amp gives the sub a very smooth sound. Cranking this sub to the max is not a good idea because the sound becomes very distorted and gross, but that is to be expected from any sub. After owning this sub for 6 months, the sound quality is still as good as the first time I heard it.

fairly good subs

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

when i bought these i was a little worried about how these subs would sound considering they were only $60... car audio has been a hobbie of mine for some time and have gone through sever pairs of speakers trying to find ones that sounded good and fit my needs i found most cheap speakers to be utter junk but i just installed two of these in a vehicular specific sealed box using the 1800 watt kenwood amp wired for a 2 ohm load they are getting about 450 rms which they are only rated at 400 but i have had no problems at all... i also found that the frequency rating is a bit off i found they were able to produce 30hz- roughly 400 hz with out distortion... i have the amps gains set and the bass boost off and the decks sub volume set to 0 and they still shake my entire car easily... the only flaw i have found is they are not able to keep up with super fast bass as in some techno songs but its a small flaw and most wouldn't notice... overall if you want to shake windows and set off car alarms these subs might not work for you but they sure add decent bass to your system for pretty cheap

Purchased these about a week ago and got them installed two days ago. have them in a ported box W36 x H14.5 x D16 with the port being 1.5 inches wide for each sub. Even though they arent broken in yet they are still sounding great. So far have outlasted my previous kenwoods (kfc-w3011) that blew after a day with my current amp. Overall these are great subs, can hit the low notes but has nice tight punchy bass even in a ported box.

Wow. I have two of these in a 2.0 cubic foot box in the back of my 97 ranger and it slams. I never would have thought that these subs would sound so good for the price but boy was i wrong. I\'m about to order my third one and put into a custom box and get a bigger amp because now i only have an old phoenix gold amp my uncle found and its putting about 300 rms to each sub. I would highly recommend getting these subs to anyone, whether you have money or not this sub is a steal.

Great Buy

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

Wow where to begin?

Value: they hit so hard. Big name, good looks, 400wrms rating, good sized magnet, great sound, what more could you want for your money.

Look/Design: Some what plain, but yet classy. No complaints.

Durability: Still breaking in, but soo far durability isn't an issue. Appears to be well made, expected from a big name company such as Kenwood.

Features: Single 4ohm works for me. Not sure what other features you're looking for.

Ease of Use: Comes with good instructions and every thing needed to get mounted.

Overall: Very satisfied. I'm running one of these hooked up to a Dual amp putting out 300rms in a Kia Sportage and it sounds great. Hits much harder and much louder than I expected. A friend of mine had dreams of putting 3 12's or 2 15's in his Cuttie, but after hearing how loud this sub was at only 75% of the rms rating, he plans on picking up just two of these and a nice amp.

Don't have any doubt when buying theses subs.

Does more with less! Truly a great, great buy

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

First some background info:

I purchased this subwoofer to replace a 12" Infinity Reference (300w RMS). The Infinity was powered by a 2-channel Pioneer amp, which was bridged to produce 380w RMS. The amp had the gain adjusted so it was never overpowering the sub; was right at its edge. The sub itself was mounted in a 1.2 (maybe 1.4; can't remember) cubic foot sealed box which I purchased off this website in 2004. That box was filled with about 1/2 lb of fiberfill.

That Infinity/Pioneer system was stolen just under two years ago.

This Kenwood has been placed into a 1 cubic foot sealed box (off this site), and stuffed with about 1.25lb's of fiberfill (effectively making it about a 1.2 box). The amp powering this sub is a Sony 2-channel bridged to produce 340w RMS (the sub is rated at 400w RMS). The sub is wired to the internal box connectors using 10-gauge wire, and the box to the amp also with 10-gauge wire.

Both systems were installed in the trunk of a 2-door compact car (Dodge Neon).

Now for the comparison:

Overall: 4 - I say 4 because I'm sure there's something out there that is better (there always is), so I can't say it's the "best." That said, overall I am VERY happy with it, for details listed below:

1) While this system is being powered by a basic Sony amp throwing out 340w RMS, the system is noticeably louder than my Infinity system. I was actually surprised at this; I wasn't expecting any difference, especially since it is mounted in a smaller box than the infinity was. That said, the Infinity seemed to be louder at the lower tones, but this could simply be due to the fact that the Kenwood is still new and breaking-in. Other than that, it definitely hits your chest harder than the Infinity. This is great seeing as how the box takes up less room in the trunk. So I'm getting more volume (clean volume at that), at a smaller footprint, and a smaller amp (can't really compare the amp though, since the Pioneer was tuned to ~300wrms). One thing to keep in mind, is that you're going to need to support this system with decent amp'd front speakers. My replacement amp for the door speakers only puts out 55wrms/channel. The previous amp (Elemental Designs) put out 85wrms/channel, and I can REALLY tell the difference (same speakers up front - Boston Acoustics). The bass currently is overpowering the mid/treble, so I'll need to beef up the power to the door speakers soon.

So going back to the subwoofer - For a 2-door compact, there is most definitely enough bass; I couldn't imagine needing any more; I don't even have the bass boost on the amp turned up; just have the head-unit set to "+3db Subwoofer" (it goes up to 10). Keep in mind that that's also in a small sealed box; step up the box size or go ported for even more sound.

2) Value - Seriously, what more can you ask for for under $50? Value is through the roof. $50 won't even get you a single set of speakers for your basic home boombox, and this is without a doubt of high quality. I paid $100 for my Infinity (on sale), and this by far, other than the real lows which I'm sure will get better as time goes on (or if I step up the box size), is far superior to the Infinity.

3) Look/Design: Gray sub in a gray box in a gray interior trunk. This sub isn't flashy; it's classy. Very refined and is more "grown up" than some of the other subs you see out there. It's something you'd expect to see in a BMW for the business man that likes to get his groove on every now and again, but doesn't make him look like a child either (if any of that makes sense).

4) Durability - I left that N/A; I can't speak accurately to this as I haven't owned it for over a year. If any product breaks within the first month, it is more of a defect and not a statement to the actual product (my opinion) - EDIT - ok, it's making me select an answer here - I am forced to say "5"

5) Features - This is a stupid item to ask for a subwoofer; how many features can it have (all relative I guess)? Anyway, it's a 5. It has nice connectors that are easy to hook up, a nice strong basket, and the trim piece that goes around the outside of the woofer is nice as well.

6) Ease of Use - Again, the speaker terminals make connecting the speaker a cinch. I was a bit concerned that the spring in the connectors wasn't biting down on the wire hard enough to keep it in place, but it seems like a non-issue thus far. Other than that, it's just a pretty straightforward procedure.

So in conclusion, if you're in the market for a well priced subwoofer, I would strongly recommend this product. I will also mention that I would not take it out of contention with products into the $100 range either; in this case, the price definitely does not speak to the quality. The quality is far, far higher than that of a $50 product. It is also available in both SVC and DVC to suite your needs.

THIS THING BANGS FOR THE PRICE

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

ONE OF MY FRIENDS GOT A PAIR OF THESE OFF OF SONIC ELECTRONIX. WE HOOKED THEM UP TO A 2400WATT AMP AND PUT THEM IN A SMALL SEALED BOX BOY DID THEY BANG. THEY HAVE REALLY GOOD SOUND QUALITY IF THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT. BUT WITHIN A SECOND OF TURING THEM UP HE MADE HIS REVIEW MIRROR DROP. I MEAN THEY SOUND GOOD AND RICH; YOU WON'T REGRET BUYING. ONE OF MY OTHER FRIENDS EVEN GOT A PAIR FROM SONIC AFTER SEEING WHAT THEY CAN DO. THEN HE HOOKED THEM UP TO A 2000 WATT AMP AND IT IS BANGING. I WOULD SAY THEY CAN HANDLE MORE THEN THEIR RMS.

great subs

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

i bought 2 of these and was only running 100 rms each in the trunk of my LeBaron convertible and they sounded great!
They were in a sealed box and the bottom of my trunk flexed alot and gave anybody a nice massage. My friends were very impressed!!!!!! They are very good for the price!
I paid 130 for the two so sonic has the best deal.
A lot cheaper than what i paid!!!

Kenwood sub

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

My friend Tyler purchased these subs about a year ago and they bump like crazy! He hooked them up to a Kenwood 1800 watt monoblock sub and they have so much power that they make his headlights flash. the sound quality is great. only thing that i dont like about them is that they seem to rattle after alot of use.

Great 1st Sub!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I did my research and got 2 of these. People hate on them, but they change their minds are they go for a ride. These hit clean and hard at the same time. I hit 139.1 in a sealed box at a sound comp. No Joke. I have it paired to a Kenwood 9103D at 2 ohms. Running 900W RMS.
I paid $300 for the amp at the time. You won't be disappointed if this is your first system or you're upgrading.

Very happy

6 months ago I purchased several items from Sonic including a KFC-W3012 Kenwood sub. I couldn't be happier with the system or the vendor. My only regret is that I didn't purchase two of them. In the future I would prefer to buy from Sonic whenever possible.

great sub

i have one of these hooked up at only 200w rms and it still sounds great! adds great needed bass to all your songs and just fills that void. also gets pretty loud and has some nice excursion. has some trouble with the low notes due to higher freq response but still sounds great everywhere else. very nice subwoofer. i would recommend them to anyone.

good subs for the price

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3012).

I owned 2 of the previous model 12's and 2 of the 10's and they were a pretty decent buy. I was running about 300 watts to each of the 4 subs and they hit pretty well. They never set off any car alarms but 2 of each in a sealed box if you have the room is a good way to go for nice clear punchy bass.

Great Product

Kenwood does it again, I purchased these to replace my boston G5s to get rid of a little weight in the trunk. Let me tell you my system sounds so much better with kenwoods, I have them running off a KAC-9104D. You cant go wrong with these subs when the SQ is so much better then the boston acoustic G5, you do the math.

Great subs for the money

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I purchased 2 of these subs almost 2 years ago. I currently have them mounted in a sealed enclosure with around 1 cu. ft. per chamber and I am feeding them with an Alpine MRP- M500, wired to 2 ohms for 250 watts rms per sub. These subs slam hard, but due to the small enclosure size, they don't go very low. I am currently working on a ported enclosure for them. My only complaint is that the cone is far too stiff and brittle. I have cracked the cones multiple times, hence the reason I got a service plan, they give me new ones.

Hits hard

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

To start this is a pretty good sub and the price on this site is even better,
but if you are looking for a sound quality sub this not the sub for you.It hits hard and is relatively deep but is not clear if you were to spend a little more money I personally think you would be happier all around.Don't get me wrong if you just want some decent bass than this is a very good deal but if you want some real sound quality, remember that loud does not equal sound quality look at sensitivity, frequency response, and rms power, not peak power, and you should be happy with what you end up with.

Great for the price...

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

I own 3 of these speakers loaded in a sonic 3-12" box pushed by a Kenwood KAC-810D wired to 1ohm and I have literally broken the rear view mirror off of two different vehicles. These sub put out A LOT of bass at a high volume but at higher volume there is a significant amount of cone noise so it worked best for me pointed rearward in the trunk. The rated wattage is said to be 400w but is actually safe anywhere from 400-800w. Overall, a great speaker for the price.

Kenwood is awesome for the Price!!!!

The following review is for a previous version (KFC-W3011).

THis sub is pretty damn good..I was pretty amazed because i thought that they would suck just because they were cheap and they are probably the best subs you can get on this website for the price. This can take a little punishment and i've been pushing mine at around 1,000 watts with an MTX amp and these things bump. It all depends on the set-up for the system like getting the right enclosure and all that stuff.
