killer stereo

ive had this for about 2 mos now i pulled out the stock stereo in my 2002 suburban and put in this kenwood unit and replaced a;ll the speakers with hertz speakers haven done the sub yet still running the stock one. Thjis unit has serious balls its so loud itll give you a nose bleed. Easy to use and install and sounds better than most higher priced ones i definetly recomend this to anyone who wants to rock

So far so good

I have had this unit in for a couple of weeks.
Pros: It has all of the features I wanted that would fit my truck (really wanted DD but didn't want to go through the extra expense of modding the truck and didn;t want a flip screen). The unit sounds nice, has a clean look and is easily controlled once you get used to all of the sub menus.

Cons: Most of the colors that can be chosen you cannot see in direct sunlight. The aqua color works best for me for sunlight visibility. The volume knob is tight but its brand new and is already loosing up, It is slick as well so if you plan on using the headunit instead of the remote, be warned the volume knob will be difficult to operate until it is "broken in".

I haven't gotten my subs in yet so I cannot speak about the 4v preout yet. I will update this review sometime down the road.

Excelon KDC-X599

This is one of the nicest Kenwoods I have owned. I have two others an really dislike the radio selection method. I am glad they went back to the preset buttons. This makes it much easier to change channels when driving without having to look at the radio.

Great dtereo

Very pleased with the sound this stereo puts out, even threw factory speakers. Functions are easy to use plus has a lot of personal set-up options. Outperforms a lot of more expensive stereo's. Would definitely recommend!!!

Price+features=WIN

I just installed my X599 2 weeks ago along with pioneer A series speakers and an audio pipe subwoofer. Let me tell you the hpf, lpf, and phase control make it a breeze to set up the sound stage in the car. The multicolor display is nice, but as some have said it is quite dim during the day. 4v preamp outputs let me amp strain less and still put out lots of bass. All in all I would buy this head unit over and over again because of the price and features.

Awesome Head Unit

Upgraded from a KDC-396 i believe. That head unit was pretty good, but the Bluetooth connectivity would not play any bass, all the low frequencies were gone. I got around this by using an aux cord. I also felt like there was some sound quality missing.

Onto the XDC-599. Wow...What a difference. The bluetooth works flawlessly now. But the range of customizability, setting speaker size, 15 band equalizer, setting frequency ranges for tweeter and woofers...I was impressed. Finally am able to get out of my system what I paid into it. Completely worth it.

Nice look, great price for the features

After much deliberation I decided on this head unit for my Tahoe, which had a 1.5 DIN configuration. I wanted to connect to a 4 channel amp and needed the appropriate outputs. I compared side by side with Alpine and Sony offerings and this just had everything at a better price. I know Kenwood makes quality products (amp and speakers are also kenwood).
