Great Sub

The following review is for a previous version (40CWR84).

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for some good clean and loud bass out of a small sub. I currently have this hooked up in my room with a boss 1100 amp, it's running about 375w @ 2 ohms. I'm using an old computer power supply to run it on 12v. The bass is very clean yet powerful. I'm using a .77 cu/ft ported box which is a little bit small but all I have for now. The only complaint I have is that it doesn't hit incredibly low but you can't expect that from an 8 inch sub. Overall great product and would recommend.

Big bang for the buck

The following review is for a previous version (40CWR84).

Couldn't beat the price. Bought this as a replacement for my Alpine that I kept blowing. Happy with it so far.

Solid Bass

The following review is for a previous version (40CWR84).

Replaced a stock 8" in my suburban. Had to make some mods for it to fit and add some polyfill in and behind the box, but it was worth it. Driving it with an Alpine PDR-V75 and set to 2 ohm. The impedance switch simplifies the setup. Getting thundering bass in the family ride. Now my 14-year-old asks if we can go for a drive and listen to music!

Kicker Comp VR's are one of my favorites.

The following review is for a previous version (10CVR84).

I was an MECP certified installer for 5 years, and have installed hundreds of subwoofer systems on all budgets and of all sizes. I have a handful of favorite products based on my experiences with them and how they sound in different vehicles. I also got to see how much people were spending on their audio systems. I saw people spend tons of cash and wind up with something that sounds like crap, and I've put together low budget setups that sound great. After all this, I chose 3 Kicker Comp VR 8" subwoofers for my regular cab pickup truck. Their prices are good, the rubber surrounds last a long time unlike the foam ones that usually only last a couple years. They sound great when installed in a properly designed enclosure AND GIVEN THE FULL AMOUNT OF POWER they are designed for. A sure way to waste money on subwoofers is to under-power them.

Bottom line, one of the best choices for the money and after seeing just about everything, I choose them for my own car. I am not in any way affiliated with Kicker or Stillwater Designs. I do not recieve any compensation for my comments.

Great sub for a budget SQL build!

I returned the NVX VSW82V2 as they did not play nice with my sealed enclosure. Net .60 dual sealed chambers. I pulled the trigger on the Comp R subs. Wow! Great punch and smooth roll off which is what I was looking for. My music style ranges from 80's new wave, post punk, goth, Jazz, modern Blues. Yes I am an old fart. I paired them up with a Kicker CXA 400.1 running at 1 ohm. I will end up adding two radiators to the cabinet in a week or so. I recommend them!

Best 8" around

The following review is for a previous version (07CVR84).

I just sold my 2 10" vegas in a heavy ported box (too heavy for my car) and borowed this from a future project. This sub sounds great in a bazooka tube but lacked those low notes till i switched my Alpine deck for a JVC. BIG difference! Hits like lows and sounds better than most 10's in this price range. Im runing a Alphasonic 1800 and this thing can take the beating!!! People can't believe I'm runing a 8. It does not distort when I crank it up and it handles much more than there rated at. I'm really impressed with this sub and now thinking Kicker for my next sub.
Ive been an audio fan since 86 and seen, heard owned many brands but after reading reviews and listening for myself what this 8" sub can do I cant wait to step up to a Kicker 12. This is truly the best 8" sub around!!!

good rock subs

The following review is for a previous version (05CVR84).

a friend of mine has two of these in a frontier and they are awesome speakers if you are a huge fan of rock. they hit lows alright, but they just hit the highs really hard. great little subs though.

best speakers

The following review is for a previous version (05CVR84).

I just recieved three of these from Sonic and boy to they hit hard. I am pushing them with a 820 watt PowerAcoustic amp wired to 2 ohms and they make my Jeep rattle. You can not beat this price and these little babies will deliver powerful bass from low to high, and you will hear if for blocks.

Amazing!

Wow

The following review is for a previous version (05CVR84).

I love 8" subs now. This thing hits so clean and hard. I powered mine with a Kenwood KAC-6202 which is 200 RMS watts bridged 400 watts max, perfect for this sub. It wont be the loudest system you've ever heard, but for the price this sound cant be beat.

Great Upgrade to my small aftermarket system!

I had my first set in my Pontiac G8 GT, but after 6 months it seemed they went dead. I got some replacements through sonic fast and easy and they are already installed and working great within a week! I will say these are not the best speakers out there but for the price, I think they're a bargain! They thump and hit most frequencies very cleanly.
I personally have 2 running off a CX400.1 kicker amp.

Amazing Product by Kicker

The following review is for a previous version (07CVR84).

I'm using this sub for a home audio application in a ported box. It's running on about 200w rms. I've had it 2 years with no problems. The sound is superb. The lows are tighter than I expected, even at high volumes. If you need an 8" sub you can't go wrong with this one.

decent little subs

The following review is for a previous version (05CVR84).

one of my friends had these before he purchased two 15 inch woofers, and to be completely honest, i like these better. I'd recommend these to anyone who wants the nice sound of bass and keep distortion down.

AWESOME SUBS

Very Pleased!

The following review is for a previous version (07CVR84).

I just put 2 of these in a custom box I built for my 2009 Corvette and they sound great! Very clean and tight bass. I was limited on space so the box is approx. 1.05 cu ft total for the 2 subs, which is within the recommended specs. These subs are rated for 200w rms but my amp is bridged to put out 300w at 4 ohms (150 to each sub). I'm sure they'd sound even better with the right amount of power. I'm 33 and have had systems in every car I've owned since I was 17 (i.e., 2-10", 1-12", 2-12", 2-15") and these tiny subs stack up well next to any of them, except for the low, low, notes. But for sound quality, you can't go wrong with these in the right box.

Just what I needed!

I chose this to replace the old worn factory sub in a 02 Chevy Tahoe. After the fast delivery, I already had the sub enclosure out of the vehicle with the old sub removed. I sat the new sub face down on the front of the sub box and traced the outline of the new sub. Used a cut off tool to remove the edges of sub molded ring, removed about 1/8 in of the sub box and it fit perfectly. Wired the sub for 2ohms, connected the wiring, and installed the bix back in the truck. The sub sounds really nice considering that box is a little short of the recommended sealed volume and Im still using the factory amp.... for now! I would certainly recommend this sub if you could be install it the same way and just want good sounding bass using the oe box and amp with room to upgrade from them. This review is several hours after the instal so my bad for no pictures.

4 Kicker comp r 8s !

Thus far, shipping was very fast! I have not installed in my 2003 gmc sierra truck yet as I’m waiting for a custom enclosure. I have opened up one of the subs to get a closer look and they look great with over sized terminals. The cone is very stiff as well. Being a kicker product, I’m sure 4 of these are going to bump under the rear seat of my truck! Can’t wait to install with a kicker 1200 watt amp!
