great sound

The following review is for 11DS65.2, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

the speakers deliver the sound I wanted good highs & mid range. They
are driven by 50watts rms per channel. I would recommend them to others.

Great product, great price

The following review is for 11DS65.2, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

Been using these for a few months now and couldn't be more happy. Super crisp and loud. Running these on a 4x75 Rockford amp. Kenwood head unit. Couldn't be happier. Very little bass on these speakers but they're 6.5s, not subs. I have a sub to handle bass

You get what you pay for

The following review is for 11DS65.2, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

Great speakers for the money. I've had many pairs of kickers over the years and they never disappoint. They come with lots of mounting options which is really nice. Nice set of components for not a lot of money.

Good buy

The following review is for 11DS65.2, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

Solid product. Good recommendation from Sonic rep over the phone. These Kickers replaced me stock/blown components in the front door panels. They sound very good. Kicker gives a clear and perhaps tiny sound but I later replaced my stock subwoofer in the rear and wow, the balance is great. Used a pioneer 8 inch and ran it off stock head unit with no extra amp. To my surprise the tahoe has a built in box for stock subwoofer.

The following review is for 11DS65.2, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

I purchased the kicker speakers just to upgrade the factory speakers. I was really surprised at the sound quality. This is a very large improvement over the oem speakers. Glad I did, and went ahead and replaced all 8 with the kicker speakers. You will not be disappointed.

Kicker 6.5's

I brought these 3 weeks ago along with a pair of kicker 6x9's... Man these things are great, they give my system some great hi's, no distortion and no popping... I am glad I went with the kickers because all around they haven't failed me yet. The only thing that I didn't like about them was the grills... I have them in a 89 box chevy and hopefully I don't accidentally punch a hole thru the speaker because the grill is basically non existent. But other then that they are well worth it.. wouldn't trade them for nothing.

Very Happy with these

The following review is for 11DS65.2, which is a part of the bundle you are viewing.

Backround:
I wanted to replace the speakers in my wife's car which is a '99 Honda Accord LX Sedan and wanted to spend the least amount possible for the best performance. I chose these because of reading other good reviews and I picked them up used for a very low price that I could not pass up. I'm going for true low budget car audio.

The Install:
Replaced factory front door dual-cones in a '99 Honda Accord LX driven by 15W per channel RMS built-in to the Kenwood head unit. Outer and inner door skins were completely covered in generic Dynamat super covering all openings to seal off the door. The woofer did NOT fit the factor speaker brackets by a hair - the 6" version DS60.2 would have dropped right in. So, I cut some mounting rings out of some 1/4" birch I had laying around and painted it with some multi-purpose sealer to keep it from disintegrating when it gets wet. I used 1/16" thick adhesive backed weatherstrip on the back of the woofers to seal them against the new mounting rings. The mounting rings are sealed against the door skin by 2 layers of the generic Dynamat super. I can't stress enough how important it is to properly mount and seal any woofer/mid when installing. Poor installation can make an expensive speaker sound like crap. The tweeters were mounted to the trim piece that covers the side mirror mounting nuts and wires. I used the surface mount angle cups and directed them as much as I could to the opposite side passengers head location. The crossovers are mounted with wire ties to an existing wiring harness on the inner door skin in an area that was under the armrest on the door panel.

The Sound:
With some tweaking of the crossover's high level switch, and the headunit's 3-band EQ & bass boost, the frequency response became surprisingly smooth. I tuned the EQ using a PA2 audio 1/3 octave analyzer, and then by ear though I probably would have reached similar results with just tuning by ear. The mid-bass is tight and deeper than most other 6.5" components systems I've installed, but not as deep as the old school Boston Acoustic 6.5Pros that I've had in a previous car, which I expected. The mids and highs are surprisingly detailed and dynamic. Overall, they sound outstanding for an entry-level component set. They are plenty loud using the head unit's power and get way too loud before distortion from clipping was heard. I really don't see a need to amp these as they seem to be very efficient.

Summary:
When I told my wife I was going to replace the speakers in her car she said "Why? It sounds fine to me." Now, after the install, she was blown away by the difference in sound quality. I definitely recommend these speakers. Now it's time to find some used 6x9s for the rear to get rid of the muddy lows the factory speakers produce.

Sound Good, Lacking Bass

Overall, the speakers sound good and are clear. They lack the midbass I was looking for, and can bit a little harsh at very high volumes. Have never had issues with them though. I did not install the crossovers, which would make them sound better, but not give it more midbass. Would recommend to someone on a budget, but if you have more money, buy something else.

Excellent sound quality for the price

I replaced the OEM 6.5 and tweeters in my 2006 silverado with this set. sound is great with a large range. Installation was a breeze and the crossover for the tweeters works well to boost the tweeters if you need. I've always had good luck with Kicker, and these are no exception

Amazing Clarity

Awesome power handling, these speakers scream at high volumes. Great SQ, too. All-around good speakers. Highly recommended.

Great Speakers - Highly Recommend!!!

I've installed pair of these bad boys in Impala front doors last week. They make a huge difference comparing to the original speakers! With the crossover set in the medium position - the highs are crystal clear and crisp. Mids are great but the level and clarity of bass make these speakers really exceptional. For such a small size speaker 6 1/2 they deliver serious level and clarity of bass. (I however have to mention that front doors are dynamated) The bass obviously not compared to the quality of a sub bass, but once again it is very clear and tight. I was truly surprised to see these speakers performing that great at lower frequencies.

As the speakers have two week break-in period I can not comment on their performance at max power, but low to medium power have them deliver very clear and serious sound. Overall I am very satisfied with these speakers.

Also please keep in mind that these speakers are more sensitive (higher Db sensitivity) than some of the newer Kicker 6 1/2 models. If you feed them by "weak" original head unit - this higher sensitivity will make a big deal of the difference.

Bottom line - Highly recommend!!!

Decent for the price.

System: kenwood head, infinity kap 3" dash, Kicker ds 6.5 comp doors, infinity kap 6x9 rears 2 10" jl w3 sub.
infinity 4 ch amp running 50X4 2ohms doors and rears
infinity 2 ch amp running 50X2 2ohms 3" dash
jl 750 HD running sub 750X1 2ohms (2 4ohm svc parrelel wire)

The ds are a decent comp for the price. purchased a set because my doors had blown and I was curious to try some lower end kickers. Definitely a lower end speaker but for the price performed extremely well. They seem to fall off slightly in the mid range and be slightly pingy in the highs. titanium tweets are not my fav but they do produce great high freq without distortion. I had the tweets mounted in my door post but it confused the sound stage so I mounted them directly over the woofer to produce a better single sound source which was also effective in taking out the ping as the tweets were farther away from the glass. Over all they are a decent speaker and I have not heard anything I would prefer for the price. However if you are trying to produce accurate clarity and depth in your system these are not the speaker for you. For the price they seem to have good sensitivity and were actually slightly louder than the kap's. Hope this was helpful :) btw I have yet to find anywhere that has better prices for any brand of speaker than sonicelectronix. Wish they carried HERTZ but oh well :)
