Perfect!

The KICKER 11HS8 Subwoofer is simply awesome. If you are not for shattering glass and vibrating loos your whole interior, but have a decent sub sound, if you don't want to spent a lot of money, then this box is just the right one for you. I have it in my 2001 F150 Harley Truck, and it fits perfectly between the center consoles on the floor. I did not regret a second since I have it fitted into my truck. I'd buy it again.

Very surprising amount of bass from such a small package!

While you're not going to shake any windows with this, it certainly outputs a substantial amount of bass and is able to easily round out the bottom-end in any music genre. But obviously the key factor here is SIZE. This product fills a little ignored niche market for pickup truck owners. It's sad, but the majority of subwoofer "truck" boxes are still too big for a truck! The Kicker Hideaway can squeeze nearly anywhere. It fits behind nearly any rear cab seat, under nearly any rear cab seat, and even under some front seats!! I install these professionally and have had nothing but rave reviews from owners.

It comes with all the bells and whistles too. A remote bass knob, all the power/signal wiring, and a choice of two mounting styles; screwed down L-brackets or two removeable velcro straps.

Please PLEASE Kicker, never stop making this product. It sells itself from a fit/form aspect, but the performance is icing on the cake.

Decent bass for small box

I bought a 2011 Ford f-150 in February 2013. The radio was the sync system / non-Sony. The door speakers were the cheap paper cone jobs, and bass was pitiful. I knew I would replace the door speakers (picked up some infinity kappa), but I didn't know what I wanted to do for bass. I've had some custom made boxes in the past, but I wanted to preserve the majority of my empty floorboard in the back (the rear seat folds up, and I can use the rear area as a large interior trunk). I also didn't want the time or expense of building a custom box.

I know I could have gotten "better sound" from doing a larger / custom box, but I'm at a stage in my life where time is valuable, and there is such a thing as "good enough". Lets be real. This is a truck, not a living room with Wilson Audio or Martin Logan fronts, conditioned power, acoustic dampening, and oxygen-free speaker wire. It's a freakin truck.

I wanted something to round out the low end, keep up with the factory system when I rode with the windows down, and generally make the factory system perform to a satisfactory level with minimal cost / time.

This sub did exactly that. It plays to maybe 40 Hz pretty powerfully. It does drop off below that, but there isn't a ton of music that really plays in that area. There are enough controls on the sub to match your existing needs well. The 40 Hz boost gives this a little more grunt.

I'm really very happy with the sound from this tiny box. If I need, I can pull it out in about 5 seconds due to the quick connect wiring harness. The 8" driver does a great job for what it is. I truly enjoy the sound from my upgraded stereo given my needs.

If you're looking for something to let the whole street know you're in the hood, look elsewhere. If you need some reinforcement in the low end for relatively loud listening, this is up your alley.

Btw, I listen to everything from country to hip hop to electronic. For my needs, this sub simply performs flawlessly. Couldn't be happier with the size, features, build quality, or bang for the buck.

Exactly what I was looking for

My Kicker sub was shipped promptly when my local car audio shop had it on back order. The sub installed easily under the back seat where space is extremely limited. The sound is good for such a small product, and having the amp included in the enclosure is very convenient.

The perfect sub!

This is the perfect sub for anybody that has a small car and doesn't want to sacrifice space. I have a 2011 Nissan Versa with navigation system (the best audio option you can get in the Versa), and my system was lacking on all ends. After consulting the web and calling the guys at Sonic, I finally settled with the HS8. This sub fits perfectly under the passenger seat. I also loved that Kicker has given you all the wires that you will need for the install and the ability to run high level inputs to the amp.

With the sub under the passenger seat, I don't have to turn the bass knob to about 1/3 total gain. At 1/2 total gain, the bass is so overwhelming that is it awesome. Who knew that 150 watt RMS sub would produce this much bass.

I have this HS8 paired with a IX500.4 to run Kappa component and 3-way speakers. This is what the Nissan Versa needed.

The Sonic rep that I spoke to explained everything perfectly. Sonic is the place to buy car audio!

very impressed

I have had this product installed in my vehicle for 2 months now. All I can say is that I am very impressed with the sound quality from this small sized subwoofer. Great quality and would recommend this product for sure. The guys at Sonic were great when I called for their support before placing my order.

Kicker hideaway

This subwoofer exceeded my expectations. Who would've ever thought that so much bass could come from such a small speaker.

Totally surprised and impressed

Installed this inside the back seat bottom of my '05 Wrangler LJ and it fires directly into the floor. It's just breaking in but sounds better and better. Look, it's an 8" with 150RMS in a very small enclosure so it can't reproduce every low note perfectly but it does an unbelievable job on most. Was going to go full custom JL 10TW3 with an HD900/5 at my installers recommendation but decided against it; when he got done installing my 2 NVX MVPA4's (so small he laughed) one powering the 4 tweeters and the other the 4 mids, 1 pair PolkMM5251 in my dash, 1 pair PolkMM521 in my sound bar, the HS8 in my rear seat, and the Pioneer DEH-80PRS running active, tuned and time aligned all he could say was WOW. This set-up works perfectly in a vehicle that's not even close to a perfect listening environment. I couldn't be happier.

Nice little sub!

Installed this sub in my boat and it has worked out pretty good. Not Earth shaking bass but sounds good with the rest of the audio system will kicking it on a sandbar. Easy to install as well. Had to order the adapter wire after the fact. IMO it should be included.

Kicker Hideaway

My head unit is the Sony single din with the 40x4 class d amp in it. Polk 651s up front and some flavor of kickers in the back. I needed bass but didn't want to sacrifice any of the utility of my Avalanche. I ran across the Hideaway (great deal at Sonic Electronix) and thought I'd give it a try. It does what it says. Filled out the sound of my system perfectly. Don't let the low power rating of the amp fool you. The woofer is, from what I understand, very efficient with something around a 95db efficiency rating. You get lots of boom for the watt.

My last truck was a Nissan Frontier and I had a JL Audio 250x1 driving a pair of Bazooka 6.5s and I think that the Hideaway does a similar job, but the Hideaway goes lower.

For those that have more power going to the higher range speakers, you may want to consider two or three of these instead of a big box and separate amps. I installed mine under the rear passenger seat and still have room for two more if I get the bug for more bass.

The install was fast and easy, but I had a power distribution block under my dash. There is plenty of power lead for the install, but the trigger wire is very short. I also had to buy an adapter to be able to use the low level outputs on my head unit. Kicker sells one, but I opted for the model sold by Fosgate. The Fosgate has female ends on it, whereas the Kicker had male ends on it requiring the use of connectors.

My experience with the unit has been a very positive one. The bass sounds good, tight and clear, although I really don't think that it goes all the way to 25hz. Mid 30s would probably be a solid bet though. I've also found that the unit runs pretty cool. Gotta love those class d amps.

I'm giving the unit 5 stars considering it's size and what it does.
