It puts out the best sound I have heard from such a small unit. I love it. The only thing that would make it better is if it could be operated without the AC adapter or the cigarette lighter adapter. It could use a battery pack.

Simply the Best
My first experience to try the kicker speaker dock was for my Zune player the sound is"absolutely incredible". No sound adjustments were needed. I was later given an Ipod as a gift, , I viewed the Kicker speaker dock for this as well so I ordered it and "OMG"! ...Music sounded as if the band were playing right up front for me.
The unit is very portable and light to carry. has an auxillary connection for other devices 40 watts of pure 'THUNDER" and I do mean thunder..a built in 6 inch sub-woofer that will make you stare at it's amazing punch. These units also include power cords a remote control and all sizes of dock adapters to fit your ipod/phone or zune player.
The only con to this unit it does not use batteries for take along trips. however, the (optiona)l car adapter accessory works great.
If you are looking for a great sound system for the home, office or dorm room, that your friends will want to take home after hearing,..don't hesitate to purchase the Kicker ik501 for ipod or zk500 for the zune player (which is harder to find now) I'm very pleased I made the right choice.
