A solid dvd/bluray player with wifi

I bought this specific model after much research into the Bluray players with built in network access. I specifically wanted to use this in order to stream Netflix to our TV in the living room without running any cables. I was skeptical about using the Wifi to stream movies but after months of use I have never once seen any loss of picture quality and the movies never have to stop to buffer or load the next scenes. I have also used this device with regular DVD movies as well as bluray disks and have had no issues. All in all a great device that fills a specific need very well.

Outstanding Product and a great buying experience

6 months ago I bought my LG BD 570 player from Sonic after doing some pricing research and product reviews online. I had not originally heard of Sonic Electronix, but after reading a number of reviews about it I decided to give it a try. I was very impressed. Price was outstanding. Shipping was VERY fast. And I have absolutely loved my new LG Blu-ray. I'm happy to come back here for any of my electronic needs now and I have already recommended the site to some friends who were shopping for new blu-ray players.

The LG BD 570 itself is a very solid player. It is now about 6 months old and there may be newer models but I have not had a single playback issue with it. My picture is clean, and the playback is seemless. I have had some issues with some scratched DVD discs from Netflix, however cleaning them off usually fixed the issue. The load time for a new disc is acceptable and the software update feature, while slow to load if the patch is big, has worked each time without a hiccup.

Strongly recommend this player.

Great price performance, simple and versatile

I have enjoyed this product from day one (I have had it for 6 months). The product has performed as advertised, and performed well. The Bluray/DVD disc performance, has played everything. The NetFlix streaming, flawless (standard definition only). PC streaming/DLNA has been outstanding. I have connected both wired and wirelessly. I maintain a wired connection due to the bitrate associated with some of the bluray content being streamed to maintain a constant, smooth picture quality. Also, it is rare that a video/audio format is not recognized and played (.avi, .mkv, AC3, DTS, etc.). LG continues to do a nice job in sending out regular updates to the firmware and or software. However, customer support at LG needs to come along in the area of networking.
What I like most about the BD570 is that it is simple to use, all aspects, and for the entire family. You can have the power of an HTPC behind the scenes, but with a user-friendly remote control that everyone will appreciate for DVD, Bluray, NetFlix and PC streaming playback.
Compared to the BD390 (its predecessor), the controls are better positioned (disc tray open/close on the side it should be), although I'm not a big fan of the full frontal door( I liked the BD390 design better). Also, the chassis of the BD570 vs. the BD390 is smaller and appears more flimsy than the BD390. Repair history on the BD570 much better though. I have not had any problems!

Love it!

I have really enjoyed having one player for my dvds, blue ray and netflix online. I also access the movies on my computer as easily as this makes it.

Good Addition to Home Theater

This Blu-Ray player does everything I wanted it to do. It playes my older DVDs and is very good playing Blu-Rays. I don't use the apps that much but they are easy to access and the wreless connection was very easy to set up.

Great value

I would recommend this Blu-Ray player to anyone. The Internet connection has been most enjoyable. The only negative so far has nothing to do with the product. The Netcast sometimes will not open; however that does not happen often. Sometimes just giving it a few minutes and trying again is all that it takes. Overall, no complaints.

Performs as Expected

Used primarily for internet movie downloads. Basically has performed as expected. Some delays for buffering of movies, but this is probably due to internet issues, not the BD570. Generally pleased

LG BD570 - great unit

The BD570 is a great Blu Ray / dvd player. Simple to set up, fantastic wireless reception. Since it's very difficult to cable my master bedroom enterment center, the wireless BD570 has been perfact. Netflix, VUDU, etc all load in seconds and play flawlessly. Great blu ray. Avitar looks spetacular on my 50" Visio plasma. The download updates take a long time to add, but mostly because new Net cast online network additions. I do wish there was a subtitle button on the remote, which would alleviate having to go to setup on a disc. This is a very fine unit.

Nice

I bought this not only to play blue ray and DVD but to connect to Netflix so I could download movies. It has been working flawlessly and is easy to operate. It picks up my house wifi very well. Only problem I had was shipping damage on the first set sent to me. The return took longer than it should have - several weeks but they sent a replacement eventually.

It's a dream machine!

We have had the BD570 for over 6 months now and could not be happier with it. The wireless connectivity is top notch allowing us to stream Netflix, Home Media, You Tube as well as many other streaming options. Along with the convenience of wireless streaming the player also is superb as a Blu-Ray player. The picture is outstanding and it up converts our old DVD discs very well. Updates are downloaded seamlessly which has kept our player up to date and working without issue. We highly recommend this player to anyone and you cannot beat the value for the price you pay!

It's been great!

I use it almost every day... log into Netflix or Pandora mainly, connections are good. Easy to use. When I set it up, I did have to change a setting (like the other reviews recommended), otherwise, no complaints.

ALMOST great!

Discovered bug when using HDMI with my TV. When in menus (only) picture will occasionally breakup.
LG tech tried to help but couldn't and did not call me back as promised. I'm keeping it anyway as it is a great gadget and otherwise is terrific.

Does everything I expected

The BD 570 has performed without flaw for the last six months. It seems that everything is going wireless internet, but it is still a great value for a DVD player. The only problem that I have is the signal strength - my wireless modem is in my living room and the 570 is in the bedroom, so I sometimes have to open the cabinets they are in to get a constant signal, so if the distance in your house is relatively far apart, make sure you have enough strength to not loose signal.

Really Great Player

This was just the BD player I was looking for. It has beautiful playback. Abundant features that I wasn't really looking for in the first place. And best of all, it plays any kind of downloaded movie from the internet through the USB port on the front. I've gotten quite used to leaving my external hard drive plugged in and watching what I like when I like.

Beautiful picture

I never had a blu ray before or even a high quality DVD player. This is wonderful. I have a LG TV so they work together well, but that is not a requirement.

Great Blu-ray player!!!!!

After doing a ton of research and having to have the wireless connection and the ability to watch movies through my Netflix acct, awesome picture as well. The only thing I do not like is the length of time to update firmware, other than that, top notch player and it loads discs quick.

Up-converts standard DVDs to HD playback sometimes un-watchable

Though say 1080P DVD up-conversion, I've tried many HDMI v1.3 or v1.3a or v1.3b cables to link up my Sharp LCD, but in vain to play back normally. Somtimes have pictures and sounds, sometimes have sounds but no picture. I took it to the dealer (Fortress) using the same Sharp LCD model in the shop for playback or even with the shop's display product of LG BD570, still appears the same problem. Then, I took it to LG for repair services, but returned with the same problem. I now buy another Pioneer BD player, no such problem at all.

Amazing Player!!

I have it hooked up to a 60" Mitsubishi DLP and the picture quality is amazing!!! The built in Wireless-N has worked flawlessly out of the box and the feature set with Pandora, Netflix, and Vuduu to name a few add a tremendous value. I only gave it 4 stars for look/design because you have to flip down the front to get to the USB and 4 stars for features because there is no 3D upgrade. But as far as quality and performance for the price this is a superior product that I would definitely recommend!
