Get what you pay for

These are a good upgrade from factory speakers and will produce clear sound even without an amp to them. Putting an amp to them would be a good idea of course. The price is great and you are still getting Mb Quart quality. Do not expect much bass you can look at the woofer and tell they are designed for mids and highs. When I think of MB I think of High Freq. The Formula series is just Mb's way of making their speakers for people on a budget who are looking set-up a complete system and good sound imaging. They are good buy

nice budget speakers

I'd recommend these to anyone looking for some good speakers with a budget! Installed mine 3 days when i got them a week later, they sounded better just got to let them get a little break in before you crank it up! Highs are really good, no ear screeching here!?

Quality on a budget

This component set from MB Quart is an absoulute deal, if you are strapped for cash, then this is a deal, in no way are you getting low quality stuff. i have 2 sets in my integra and i loved them so much that i decided to do up my other car all the way around so that no matter what car i drove i could hear my music the way it was supposed to be heard, i deffinetly would reccommend, but they perform best if amplified. Thank you sonic, what a great product and even better price.

meh...

I'm running off of HU power and they are okay i guess, highs are unreal, bit crackly at times (86db sensitivity, really?), mids definitely need turned up while highs need turned down. Don't expect any bass out of this though, I have my bass at -2 so they don't distort, with sub for bass. For bass a sub is defiantly needed. Overall HU power isn't enough so a small amp is recommended, but nice set of speakers for the price. With amp, I recommend them. Sonic is great!

Loud!

Dont expect much bass from these, but dang are they screaming they are a perfect balance w/ a sub. They have snappy highs. They really come alive when you power them w/ an amp. I'm using a soundstream dtr500.4 its great combination.

High madness

I recently installed these in a corolla (i'm a car audio installer) and was a little bit disappointed.... MB stand up for there reputation of delivering crystal clear highs but ended up with huge peak in the 10-15 khz! Titanium tweeters are in cause here... mids were good and you obviously forget about kickin' midbass.

Strongly recommend to mount the tweeters off-axis (ideally pointed toward center of windshield) to avoid blowing up your ears with these aggressive highs (and create good imaging at the same time...) I also recommend to install with a good EQ! With something like 7 or more bands, you could probably level the frequencies up and end up with the MB Quart clarity you're probably seeking if you're considering this set of component.

Good speakers for a budget minded buyer and defensibly require a subwoofer and good EQing to complete 'em!

super value

The price alone makes these a good deal.
You can run low power and they still sound good.
Surprising sound quality for what they are.

great speakers

These speakers are great , they handle all songs well, the tweeters aren't to harsh either , I have them in my van running of a jvc double din, once worn in they sound very very good for the money, you would struggle to find a better set of components for the price of these

MB Quart Quality + Great Value = WIN

First things first, you have to adjust your expectations on this set because as of the time of this review they were $60. $60 for a set of MB Quarts in any capacity 10 years ago was unheard of. If you went to b*** b** with a budget of $60 (including tax) and walked out with the best you could find there for that amount of money, whatever speakers you chose couldn't hold a candle to this set. Unless you're selling a pair of better MBQs because you're hurting for money, this set is going to going to sound much better than the set you are replacing them for.

As for the sound itself, the midrange in this set is what really shines. The mids are so clear and distinct, and without distortion at almost any volume. The one gripe about this set from most reviewers is the bass, and to some extent they are correct, but assuming most of you will also purchase a sub, it's a moot point because any decent sub will fill in what you're missing here - and what you're left with is extremely clear and powerful mids that will impress. The highs aren't AS crisp as some of the MBQs I've owned in the past, but a set like this would have ran you $120-$150 back in the day - and it's available for more than half the cost now. How could you go wrong?

awesome buy!

this product is built to last and can handle whatever abuse you can throw it's way, i have been a fan of mb quart for 7 years and the speakers last a long time with a lot of abuse... i highly recommend these speakers especially if you don't what to spend a lot...

Great value

For good quality highs and mids in a budget component system i recommend these speakers. I have been impressed with Mb Quart in the past. These formulas are the cut down budget speaker that get the job right. Looking for bass from 6.5" look to another speaker.

Clearity.

The system is clear and nice. All the music and sounds can be heard. The only thing is that it doesn't give much bass.

Awesome Product

MB Quart has always been a great product to me. I bought these to upgrade my factory speakers, knowing they weren't top of the line. Was I ever shocked on how well they perform. I am running a total of 380 watts to 2 sets of these and they sound awesome. What a great product will recommend to anyone.

Great speaker for a great price

I installed two sets of these in my 2005 Nissan Xterra yesterday and they sound amazing, 100 times better than my factory set up. Cant speak much for durability since I just got them, but we will see how long they last. They are running off my JVC deck that puts out 34 RMS so I don't think I will amp them. The most surprising thing I noticed is the amount of bass these things put out, not enough for me but good enough for most. I will compliment them with a Pioneer 12" sub running about 300 watts. Buy with confidence because these things don't disappoint....and for 59.00 bucks a piece how can they?

Worth the $$$

Well, I just installed them last night.. I gotta say for the money they sound much better then I thought they would.. Just to give a little background: In my past life I was a pro car audio installer for about 20 years (1979-2000) I've done a lot of high end cars as well and a lot of high end audio.. I was very reluctant to buy they set at the price of $53 shipped. heck! I paid more for the Cap on my sub... Now don't get me wrong.. if you're looking for big time SQ this setup is not what you're looking for.. but if you want something better then stock the 216's will fit the bill with HU power and a small sub woofer. One note: you will need to cut the door just a bit.. it's not that bad. I did it with tin snips.in a 93 Miata

Fantastic Deal

These speakers sound fantastic! I can't believe I spent so little for these speakers. By no means are these top of the line MB Quart speakers but these sound fantastic in my car,I listen to all kinds of music and they have not let me down. The tweeters are insane, you might want to set a crossover point higher than the factory crossover at around 80 to 100 HZ so the mid bass sounds perfect. I 'm going to buy a second set for my rear doors.

Very Nice Speaker Set

This is my first component set of speakers, i currently have it wired to factory specs and it sounds awesome, will throw a Hifonics amp on them in a few weeks which will even sound better, i do recommend these speakers to anyone who wants a basic component set and a reasonable price.

Highs

Incredible highs that don't distort with volume, mids are good but cannot push too much low end out or will distort. Definitely need a sub with these, but with a good sub, you'll hear every note and have a well rounded system.

Great components for the price

Easy to install if you know what you're doing, hid the crossovers inside the door panels, and mounted the tweeters near the mids. took me about a good hour to cut the holes and wire everything up to a Rockford Fosgate P200.2, they sound very clean, and can get loud. They're seeing about 50wrms which is 10 more than what they're rated for. Have had them for a couple months now.

Good but, not good enough

I bought this speakers about 5 months ago and have not have any problems. I am looking for more mid bass and, these just don't have what I need. If your looking for a good sounding speaker for a great price this set would be a good option.

FSA216 front doors 02 Suburban

I had higher hopes for these speakers, they do not sound great with alternative/rock music, and heavy rock depends on the amount of distortion. They do sound good with country, soft rock, Hip Hop and classical music though. Not much bass for having a 6.5" woofer. Good mids and great highs. Had to turn treble down. I tried it with and without the crossover, I Didn't use the crossovers because the suburban already had separate wiring for the speaker and tweeter, and no sound difference with or without them. Sounds good, but wish I would have put fks116 's in all 4 doors instead of just the back 2, for the better low end tones. Overall i'm pleased, better than stock, and not bad for not putting in an aftermarket amp. Would recommend these for someone with a powered subwoofer in a smaller car. Have to drill mounting holes in door, remove speaker screens from door panels and I drilled out the old tweeter from the plate its part of with a hole-saw bit. The new tweeter went in perfectly. If you know what you're doing for the most part its easy. The overall system may sound better once I get my new sub in.
