A revelation... WOW Maxxsonics did not screw up the brand!!!

First off this is not my first rodeo. I have been in the car audio game for 20+ years. I have owned JL Audio XR 3 way components; Old school MB Quart reference and Q series components, Xtant, you name it is been either installed in one of mine or my colleagues vehicles. These components were a revelation. I was very skeptical about Maxxsonics MB Quart. Well not any longer. My side by side comparison isn't exactly fair; but is typical at this price point. I have a 2000 silverado extended cab in which I had installed an old school alpine 3527 to drive the highs, a jl audio j2 500 watt monoblock driving 2 JL Audio 12W6v1 old school subs and an alpine CDA-9885. Well I had Boston S65's along with the factory tweets so that's 2 tweets per side and a midbass. Got these because one of my Boston's bit the dust after 8 months... Funny because I never clip my amp and 25Wx4 isn't outside the specs. Guess 25Wx4 used to mean something. Long story short the previous combo sounds like it is under water in a side by side comparison. Yes the tweets are a little bright, but hey they have a level control on the crossover and you do have treble controls right? I was able to use the eq properly for the first time on my Alpine. Got the treble at 15k on +2; not +5. The bass used to be 200HZ with a Q2 setting at -2 to make up for the Boston's shortcomings. Now it is at 80HZ (my crossover points) at +2. OMG no more gaps! It's so seamless. Buy these!!! Even at full retail they are a deal. I think I would compare the quality of manufacture, sound, and components to that of the JL Audio XR line. Believe me that is a compliment. Although I think the mids on these don't sound nearly as forced as the JL. I may never leave my truck again. :D

Awesome Sound!!

MB Quarts never dissapoint!! if u dnt like these speakers you dnt like pure audio nirvana. the sound is awesome. u do need a good quality amp to power them up or they will sound bad due to them being underpower (causes distortion). but with good power they will sing, loud & very clear. the tweeters are bright. but theres a difference between bright & harsh. i use my head units X-overs 7 left the amp alone.the tweeter is attenuated at -03dB. i have a audio control 3.1Eq molded in my dash & found if i left the front speakers only & all settings on -0dB the Mb Quarts sound great. i have 2layers of Dynamat extreme tru out the car. i love the pure sound of MB Quarts, others just need to get used to the good sound they produce.

AMAZING!!

You can not buy a better speaker for the price. This is my second vehicle I have installed the Mb Quart Premium in. The highs are crystal clear and the mid bass is outstanding. They perform really well on a stock setup(current setup) and they really come alive when you amp them(previous setup). They can take a serious beating too.
The 4 for ease of use is because the cross over.

IF YOU WANT THE BEST

I have two sets of these components connected to the MB QUART 4125 amp. They are installed in a Nissan Titan crew cab using the stock radio and they sound awesome. I only have the amp turned up half way on each of the four channels. I listen to rock and country. The vocals are amazing. These speakers put out a lot of base. You will not have to add a sub. I decided to run 10 gauge monster speaker wire that you would use in a home theater. I have had many awesome sound systems in my life but this is really an awesome package. These are competition speakers that can really crank and sound crystal clear at the same time. If you want the best then just purchase these.

New amp on Discus 4125

I said I would review these again with a new amp and so here it is. Let me just say first that the MB 4125 amp is solid and clean I got it cheap compared to Alpine or Rockford and it as just as good as any amp I've heard with zero distortion and pleanty of power. These speakers sound just as good if not better than I hoped they would. They sound good at low volumes and good at high volumes. These are by far the best speakers I have ever owned I find myself making up excuses to go for a drive just to hear them. Plus they sound good with all types of music, I listen to Rap, Rock, R&B, new and old, Opera, Taiko, watch DVDs in my car for the sound alone. I hear things that I never knew were there. Plain and Simple I Love my Quarts regardless of where they where made. People forget that China has a lot of great facilities too not just those cheap sweat shop factories we always here about on the news.

All I can say is WOW

These things are real and there spectacular. I have these running up front and a pair of the new Rockford Power 6.5s running in the rear off a busted amp My Rockford 501x puts out distortion I bought it used on ebay so thats my bad but It does put out clean power with the volume cranked up and I must say these things are top notch the tweeters are definitely piercing I had to fade to the rear a little but the crossovers can be tuned down to -6. This is not a bad thing trust me because most people will say they can only crank there speakers so much before they distort. If you buy these you will never say that instead you might be saying something like I can only crank my Quarts until they make my ears bleed! With some fine tuning you can not and will not find a better speaker. The bass response is there if you want it no doubt. These will handle anything you through at them and the only ask for 70rms can't beat them I don't dare you to try cuz it will be your loss. I'll follow up when I get a new amp installed probably going with the MB QUART 4125.

excellent premium speakers

These speakers are crisp and clean. When powered with an appropriate amplifier the speakers reveal the clarity and sound pressure levels they can produce. The speakers need equalization and a subwoofer coupled with them to produce a truly full range system. If you like loud and clean sounding audio at an insanely reasonable price, these are the speakers for you.

great quality as always

Have always enjoyed MB Quarts products. Nice crisp highs without hurting your ears, warm vocals. Would buy again.

Awesome for the money

I have a 99 Mercedes and these are in the doors. The performance is excellent. The really nice thing about these is that the sound they produce goes everywhere even if someones leg is in front of the speaker in the door. The tweeters are amazing! they reproduce sound in all directions so no matter where they are placed you get all the sound. One word of warning though, they Tweeters are BIG, they aren't some lame 1" tweeter, these are monsters with very powerful magnets that are the entire size of the speaker. One of the great things about this set is that it's very versatile depending on the your installation situation. they can be converted to 2-way speakers easily and still look great. MB Quart really thought of everything when they designed these. They are by far one of the best quality build speakers Ive seen in a long time.

Best speakers I ever bought

The over all sound quality is amazing. I would like to find out about their line of home theater speakers because I will certainly trust these guys!

PVI 216 - Great Speakers

I've had this component set for about 6 months now and they sound great with awesome range and clarity, the tweeters can be piercingly loud. Would definitely buy MB Quart again.

Good price and great speakers

Recommended. i love the mid to high range from these excellent tweeters: crisp, loud and clear. The low end? better or equal to anything i have heard before. got real good price from Sonic Electronix too. Other brands might have better ratings but that's all commercial spending. 10 - 15 years ago, MB Quart front speakers are in 1 out 2 of every sound-off winner.

Great Speakers

I purchased my first pair of MB Quarts in the summer of 1994, and they used to come with German labeled envelopes with the parts, wires, connectors, etc. Now, these things are made in China....at least there aren't any typos or engrish instructions. I'm still fairly impressed with the sound of them, pretty amazing clarity and punch from the mid bass speakers. I have a polk PAB 4100 pushing these things, and 100 RMS per channel really makes them sound great. Although they're efficient, don't compromise on the amp. I don't know how they compare in a competition, but for everything I listen to, they're perfect speakers....and they have that old MB Quart highs replicated fantastically well.

Incredible Speaker

I´ve listened to my new set os speakers and i loved it, the tweeters are very clear and the are much better than the old school Mb Quarts. The woofer is very balanced and hit hard like a mini subwoofer.
$229 is just a bargain for this set.

Great for the price!

Once in a while something will transcend the old saying "you get what you pay for" and these speakers are a good example of that. I was worried too that since Maxxsonics took MB Quart over they wouldn't be as good as they once were. But they sound just as good as they did years ago. The only grips I have are brightness from the tweeters and power usage. They do get very bright and harsh at loud volumes so you do have to make some adjustments if you plan on playing music at high volume, plus it may take more power, like from an amp, to hit their sweet spot so just using the radio to power them may not be the best way to get the most out of them.
They do all types of music well but they seem to excel with rock, pop and dance. I would still recommend no matter what you listen to. The price is too good not to.

very good sound for the price

Pros:
Overall very smooth and nicely detailed sound.
Nice build quality and finish.
Awesome clarity.

Cons:
crossovers are quite big.
grills are kinda ugly.
tweeters get a little harsh at higher volumes for my liking.

I had concerns about the Maxxsonics take-over and the effect it may have on the quality. But overall these speaker still sound very nice.

MB Quart PVI216

If you want crisp, clean sound with solid bass and clean highs, then go with these speakers. I drive an 2002 Yukon Denali. The sound wraps around my 9 speaker truck with tight bass, of course you need a solid amp other wise your not doing yourself or the speakers justice. A great head unit to compliment the speaker are a must as well. If your going to play with the big boys come right or don't come at all. Oh yes the price is right as well!!!!

Amazing SQ

Aall I can say is WOW! They sound incredible! I was very worried that these would not sound so great since the MaxxSonics take over but they are truly amazing! They replaced my Morel Hybrid components and I definitely prefer these over the Morels. They are crystal clear and for this price they are unbelievable! This is the kind of sound you wouldn't even expect to hear from a $500 pair. I'm still blown away every time I get in my truck. I have these powered by a MTX 4 Channel Super Amplifier and they scream!

Great Speaker

For the price you cannot beat these speakers. Great speakers and they produce clean crisp sound even at high volume. Do not put distortion in and they will not put distortion out!
