MTX compared to ALPINE

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

well.. the other guy that said that these subs are just ok is either crazy or just dumb.. These MTX 8500's are so freaking loud.. I've heard these before in a Civic and these things were making the trunk, roof, back window flex 2-3 inches every single hit of the sub.. Anyone even thinking about comparing these to the Alpine Type R's is crazy! I'm not dissing the Alpine's, but they just cannot compare to the SPL these things push.. they are insane... I have 2 MTX 5500's and they beat the Type R's hands down.. The 8500's absolutely murder the Type R.. probably at least 5 dB difference.. its not even close.. these things are quite a bit pricy.. $450 msrp.. but they are definitely worth it.. Don't let this guy kid you.. if you put 1 of these things against 2 alpine's you will be louder.. pair these with a MTX 7801 and you will be louder than anyone in your town...

great sound quality

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

I highly recommend this sub. After my friend got rid of his mtx x thunders, he bought one of these, and i would say its much louder than both of the x thunders. the 500 watt rms rating is WAY underrated. I have seen this sub pushed by a 1000 watt rms mtx amp in a retail store and it showed no signs of distortion or ware and tear. With enough power, this sub can actually make your ears uncomfortable. The sound quality is fantastic. I would say its the best sub i have heard as far as sound quality goes. A+ for this one.

Great sub

This sub arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It sounds awesome and I feel like I got a great deal on it. I'll definitely shop with Sonic Electronix again. My audiophile ears can't pick out any real faults with this thing. It even looks awesome!

A good choice (MTX8500 DVC)

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

I have 1 Thunder8500 in a sealed box with a 500w RMS amp, and it is quite a nice setup. Currently, the sub is underpowered, but this sub will thump hard with no distortion, and at times, I have used it for 5-6 hours straight and it showed no signs of distortion, or wear. The MTX 8500 DVC is so good, I am going to be purchasing a second sub, and individually amping them. 2 words of caution to potential purchasers. First, you will need Dynamat or some type of sound deadening because it will rattle a trunk car quite a bit, and second, I recommend at least 600w RMS amplification to really allow this sub to perform to its potential.

Banger!

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

I Have 2 of these in my Lincoln with an MTX TA7801 and they hit hard. They are pretty expensive but if you can afford it and you love bass, then this is the sub for you.

Amazing!!

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

I have a pair of these in my 350Z, with a custom enclosure, and a JL Audio 1000/V2 powering them. It will make your teeth shake when the bass pounds. These are amazing speakers and nice and shallow to fit in my car. Don't let the shallow depth foul you though, they hit so hard they make my radar detector bounce up and down on the windshield with the pressure wave.

Keep plenty of Tylenol around, the booming bass from these will blow your head and your mind. Expensive, but the sound is totally worth it!!

High performance!

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

I have 2 of these in my hatch with a 1400 watt amp. I had to blast foam everywhere cause these speakers hit so hard you have to wear ear plugs or you will bleed. I am a big fan of these speakers. You can hear my bass approximately 3/4 mile away. This is very durable and of the highest quality. BUT they are expensive. They will make your hood rattle, so be ready for competition!

Not a bad sub.

The following review is for a previous version (T8512-44).

These subs are loud and sound vary clear. But if you are looking for some bass that hurts when you turn it up these are not the right sub for you! The Alpine R’s are a way better sub and cost a lot less. If you must have MTX subs then get one 9500, or two if you can afford the price.
