GREAT SUBWOOFER BUTTTTTTTTT
For the price of this single subwoofer, you can get two of the orion HCCA subs, which have a higher rms, more excursion and an overall louder sound.

Mind over Matter
I have one of these subs along with a te1501d and in a sealed enclosure. This sub is well capable of doing some good handling, and if in a sealed rather than vented enclosure will hit the notes most claim they can't. If your looking for a sub that strokes at subsonic then this isn't for you, resonance hits at 31hz, and also is changed by the enclosure that restricts certain frequency along with the shape of the car that also eliminates certain resonances. Basically when it comes to math, the JL w7 is a louder sub by 1 dB which = 1/3 more power as 3 dB = 3* more power. Most will say "but mtx has a higher power handling rms" that doesn't really matter when it comes to dB sensitivity which in the end JL takes the cake..Im a hard earned mtx fan but I do my homework, JL is the better sub if all elements are properly setup, to the naive stereo installer a walmart bought pioneer installed by a pro is potential to out due a competition subwoofer installed by an amature.

JL Audio W7 vs. MTX 9500
I know how everyone thinks that this efficiency thing really matters. But when you spend this much on a sub. Who cares about what it'll do on a little cheap amp. I have 2 of these MTX 12's and the "rated power of 1000 watts" is bull. I have 4 1000 watt MTX amps on each coil on each woofer and have had that for 6 months so why don't we try hooking up 1500 to the JL and see what it can do besides pop. This sub is way heavier than a JL for a certain reason. So if all of you JL fans think your sub can outperform this sub power for power step up to the plate. The JL costs more maybe louder on a "little" amp but lets talk about real power and what the subs can really take. The XMAX's aren't even close. I've been up against the JL's in DB drag race and the guy had 1000 watts on each JL and there was a 3 db difference with the MTX's being louder. I'd compare the W7 more to the Rockford Fosgate T2.

outstanding
I have two 9500's each in a 2.25 cubic pro box.each have a MTX TA81001 pushing them in 2 ohm configuration and these things pound so hard. They are rated at 1000watts but birth certificate says 1550watts. Don't know how many dbs it hitting but well over 130 i'd say. They have a pretty price. But if u want a sub that can handle everything you can throw at it this is for you.Just take the challenge and you will find out for your self

Very nice sub
I have one of these right now and just recently ordered a second one...They pound very good for a single 12 inch sub. I would recommend getting one if it is in your price range. I am powering mine with a mtx 81001 amp and can't wait to get my second one.(just one of these is louder than any 2 12's I have ever seen(at my school)) I did have one problem with it, I was playing some extremely low tones and the tensil lead ripped off of the former. But I sent it back to mtx and they replaced it.

PHAT Subs!!
I own 2 of these bad boys. I have them crammed in a 1994 Mazda MX-3. They are hooked up to a 4000watt HIFONICS BRUTUS amp, and they slam the piss out of the car, causin my back hatch flex like crazy. The sad part is the amp is turned down because i dont have enough battery power to pound the crap out of them. If you have the money buy them. I got lucky and bought them brand new for $250/pr, and they're are worth so much more. If you hardcore into to subs and SPL, then these subs are for you!! But becareful these thangs are HEAVY!!

wow
I bought two of these and a thunder elite 4001d from a buddy of mine. I had to put them in my girlfriends Hyundai tiburon because my car was in the shop. They literally shook the hatch glass out. Great subs. Now have them in my civic hatch and the amp turned all the way up and its a massage every time I drive. :)

mtx amps/subs vs jl audio
Ok. First off, I personally dont have this sub, I would never waste money on MTX but unfortunately my friend did. He bought one of these and one of the mtx TA81001 amps "1000 watts". Its sound quality was horrible compared to my 12w6v2 with a 500/1 and his was barely louder than mine. Both were in dealer made custom ported boxes. Not to hit on this sub because overall it is a pretty decent value but, as for the guy saying that he put 4x 1000 watt mtx amps on his 9500, try putting 4 jl 1000/1 amps on it and see what happens :). Overall this is a decent sub but u would enjoy a 12w6 much more.

THE SUPER WOOFERRRRR!
You know I am truly exhausted! I have had this subwoofer before and was proud to have it. I am sooo sick of ppl saying who is the best out here. the truth is IT DOESNT MATTER! Now! that I've got that off my chest. I will say that THIS SUB! THIS SUB OOOOOH LAWD THIS SUB SPL/SQL is the best for the buy! Loud, and deep! the deeper the box the better this sub will work for you in all capacities. I have two and want another one now. I will get a triple box just right for these super woofers! ONCE AGAIN 9500's LEEEGOOO!

Awsome Bass
Me and this sub have a never-ending relationship! For the price is steep! yes but one is truly enough if you wanna reach high decibels. This sub is under-rated so be careful! You may get a tickets for noise violation. The right box and set up and youre a winner and these fake audio-philes along with real ones will be intimidated by you!

GREAT
They are great price nowadays and they pound hard. I dont care what you say about the w7 i have heard both and this one truely hits harder and smoother. This sub can handle at the very least around 1500 watts even though it says 1000 watt rms. I have this sub hooked up in a small staturn sl2 and it BANGS.

One of the loudest I've heard
This sub is great. I recommend it to anybody that can afford its high price. The 1000 watt rating is bs. I've seen it handle 1500 watts like it was nothing. It is loud and the sound quality is great. I've never heard a w7, so i cant put in an opinion about which one is better. Overall, its a kick ass sub.

The sides of my car come in and out about 3 inches these subs are all power they are the greatest. I can not keep them on while i drive i just have this for competition. These subs are rediculous.

Awesome Subwoofer!!!
I had 2 of these in a ported SubZone enclosure powered by a Kicker KX1200.1 in a 97 Grand Am GT. it was phenomonal to say the least. The bass would make you feel woozy and literally take your breath away. You had to turn it down for a while and give yourself a break. I have been into car audio for 16 years and have dabbled with lots of brands. At one time I used to be an extreme MTX hater, if I only known what I had been missing. The purchase of these subs realy opened my eyes. I would recommend these subs to anyone who wants loud, powerfull bass......these subs will deliver.

W7 Killers
These Subs blow W7 out of water. MTX is said to be the best, I am not going to agree, but they are up there with the rest. The power of the 9500 MTX 1000 watts RMS compared to the W7's 750 watts RMS. They can take a lot more power. In the car audio shops they make the subs sound a lot better than if they were in your car. So don't rate a sub by the way that they sound in the car audio shop. These are a dream come true.

9500
I heard this sub in the shop today... dispite what MTX and others claim... this thing does NOT compair to a W7... besides it's lower price, otherwise w7 will blow it away no problem. If you have the extra money go w7, or for a compairable price go w6v2.
Bottom line, its a good sub, but DOESN'T compair to a w7.

Wooaaah
This sub is redic. I jus put it on a hifonics brutus 1700 soo it gets 1200 rms and it can totally take more. It drinks the 1200 watts like its nothing. Good strong deep bass. 2.5 cube box tuned to 32htz+ 1200 watts = a good combination.

Are you kidding...?
You can do all the math you wanna do to say that the JL W7 is better.... but go read all the reviews go see all of the video footage. Go to mxt.com and watch how fast the w7 blows go read about all of the advantages mtx has over the w7. And if you wanna take that as mtx being bias to their own product... go to other companies like orioncaraudio.com and see how they stack up. The W7 doesnt campare and its alot more expensive. MTX made a great sub here.

I didn't buy this woofer from Sonic, I got it as a gift after my friend dropped it and ripped the cone wich took me 5 minutes to repair anyways. This woofer is awesome my friend has a solo x 12" with a 2000w brutus amp and my truck sounds about the same with a 1000watt hifonics HFI. Ohhh and the difference from my built to specs box compared to his built to spec box its amazing how small the box the mtx requires and his takes up his whole trunk of his suv. I LOVE this woofer. I'm guessing it would take about 1400 rms with no problem.

9500's
I own 2 of these w/ an MTX 7801 goin to each one. They sound great, got some nice tight bass. Loud enough to get me tickets and shake my rearview mirror off. And be ready to get lots of dirty looks. I don't know why eveyone is tryin to compare the 9500 and W7. Volume displacement= surface area*xmax. the 12 W7 beats the 12 9500 and the 13 W7 beats the 15 9500. It's on MTX's website on their Volume Displacement calculator. but i got mine for 200 a piece through MTX and JL can't really compete with that.

Awesome
these subs pound. had three hooked up to 3 kicker kx850.2 amps and it was the loudest i ever heard. also had 2 jl audio 13" W7's and the three MTX's were way louder. only down fall take tons of power to run!!

9500 is truly competition material!
I have heard these subs in action and they are amazing. When a sub rattles the rear view mirror off your car you know its good. Overall good sound quality and no distortion.

straight up slams
I have this sub in a small ported box on a 1500 rms amp and this sub slams. It has knocked the lights loose in my trunk and sounds great. I would recommend this sub to anyone who can afford it. This sub weighs like 75 pounds by the way

Step your game up!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah Yeah!!!! You're all talkin about the W7 and the 9500 series but noone wants to fool with the 06 VSL7 series from Kicker. You all know Kicker is top of the line of the three companies mentioned. And I am lucky to say that I have the 06 L7 and the matching compatible amp made for it. Now check the sub and amp out and tell me what you think about the mathematics of this sub!!!!!!!The game has changed and sqaure subs are in now...STEP UP YOUR GAME!!!!

Don’t beleive the Orion sub comment. These are phenomenal
Those Orion subs weren’t engineered nearly as well as these. The leads are loose and make noise rattling against the spider and there’s other issues. The 9500’s however have insane quality. I personally have shoved 1253 rms in them for literally 4-5 years on a daily basis and they have never ever given me an issue. And once they finish breaking in HOLY COW. the subs have a better build quality then the Lexus they were in cause they made all kind of random part start falling off. Which I honestly didn’t mind so much since it sounded swell doing so. Also these subs can do great for spl. But the sound quality was very impressive. These subs have outlasted every other sub I put through their paces which includes jl W7, Rockford t1 and t2,2 kicker l7’s, and so on. The only sub it hasn’t demolished so far is my current sundown x 12 and I haven’t had it very long to prove it so only time will tell. Thunder 9500’s are legendary and worth a lot more than the price.bass performance and Build quality is relentless

Best hitting single sub I've ever owned!
Got lucky and recently found one of these at a pawn shop. I have it running one skar rp-2000.1d 0 gauge everything w 3 batteries. Vented oversized box and it drops! Wish I could find another one! A sub from 2003 still out pounding most of the subs out there its crazy!
