Found my missing midbass, finally!!

The following review is for a previous version (CK 6III).

Took a gamble on a relatively unknown company in Massive Audio when I ordered my CK 6's. I had heard the midrange speaker was simply unbeatable at this price point. I had half my setup using this CK 6 mid/tweet and passive crossover and I had the other half of my setup using the Image Dynamics CSX62v2 mid/tweet and passive crossover. The CK6 simply blew the ID setup out of the water. It has such nice midbass! Something that I found lacking in every other component set I tried. I was blown out of the water. They are extremely snappy and responsive and make kick drums come to life. Anything I threw at them they handled with poise and elegance. They go deep while still having great midrange capabilities. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this set of components to anyone looking for superb performance. These can not be beat at their price point and blow many more expensive sets out of the water.

Pros: Snappy, responsive, never muddy, deep midbass. Crystal clear midrange even when pushed at high volume. Tweeters sound great after some tweaking.

Cons: The tweeters need to be tamed a bit more than the passive crossover allows. Even at the -3db setting they are a little overpowering. I ran them active so I was better able to control their output and they sounded fantastic. I would give the passive crossover 4 out of 5 stars as it does sound relatively good other than pushing the tweeters a bit too much.

Way underrated speaker!

The following review is for a previous version (CK6V).

I actually own 2 sets of the CK6 and a set of the CK6.9 and are great speakers (SQ) for the price! After reading great reviews on these everywhere, I looked I decided they met my needs for budget wise for my SQ project. Couldn't be happier they have lived up to their reviews! Would recemmend them to anyone looking for a nice set of SQ speakers, but don't have the thousands to spend! Awesome comps, great value, just make sure you have the power to throw at them and you'll be pleased with their performance!

AWESOME!!! Compared side by side with boston pro audio's!

The following review is for a previous version (CK6V).

I own a set of these and they are great. I have previously had rockford power t1 6.5" , image dynamics CTX6.5 , Old school Boston Pro Audio and some new CDT 6.5" components all have been on the same head unit (kenwood 25th anniversary) same car and same amp( kicker zx700.5 bridged to 150 watss rms x2). All i can say is wow the only ones i would compare these to in my arsenal is the boston pro's. And even then its close. The factory ck6 crossovers even on the -3db setting for the tweeters are harsh. The boston are a little more dynamic but these are still good. The build and feel of these are great i currently now run them acftive on 125watts RMS x 4 and they are great. I properly tuned the amp and guessed on the EQ i am running a 250 amp alt and have 0 gauge for the amp so if they are fed clean power at all times they show no fatigue no distortion even on my previous 10 hr road trip. I would reccommend these to anyone and everyone i will be purchasing another set.

Amazing!

The following review is for a previous version (CK6V).

These speakers are awesome! The midbass is fantastic, and the overall sound is very even and realistic. The tweeters can be slightly harsh at first, but that seems to go away quickly after being played for a little bit. The tweeters can be set at +3Db, 0Db, or at -3Db - mine are at -3. I have 145 watts RMS going to these speakers, and they take it and play very loud and clear without any problems. Like I said before, these sound very realistic without any significant peaks/dips in the frequency response - at least nothing that I noticed. My deck has an EQ on it, and I have it set almost completely flat! The only deviance from flat is one notch down and 2.5kHz, and one notch down at 8kHz. I honestly think you cant go wrong with these speakers, and at this price it's just a fantastic deal. Do yourself a favor and stop searching and BUY THESE SPEAKERS NOW!!

Awesome system

The following review is for a previous version (CK6V).

These speakers have far surpassed what I ever would have expected. There is actual bass, and clean bass at that. For many people you might not even need a sub, the balance is already very good. The tweeters are magical. They're big, deep, and robust. They reach down low in frequency response, and they've been crossed over low as well, so when they're mounted up on the door or A pillars (as in my install) it really brings the soundstage up. So much so that I pulled the center speaker in my car, it wasn't needed with these speakers. The tweeters are a little strong at 0db on the crossover, but there's a -3 setting as well. The most surprising thing is how well they perform with just the factory head unit in my '11 Regal. Once I get them hooked up to my amp I expect them to perform better still. Even at double the price these are going for they would easily be worth it for the sound they produce. I can't recommend them enough.
