Amazing sub.

These subwoofers are amazing, They are definitely up there with the Sundown SA-8 V.2 D2. Price point of these are what drew me in. I would recommend this to anyone that wants the Sundown but is looking for that price break.

Nice upgrade

I had 2 Massive Audio Summo84 subs running on a Massive Audio E2 amp that I loved. I decided to try the Hippos due to my box being a little better suited for them over the Summos. My box is 2.17cuft total ported tuned to 36hz. Swapped out the subs, same box, same amp and damn I couldn’t believe the difference. Wasn’t expecting much but they carry the lows so much better shaking everything more than those Summos did. Now don’t get me wrong the Summo series 8 is an impressive sub for the size but Hippos can get you better quality bass. Can’t wait to power them to full potential.

Break them in.

Break these bad boys in they sound some much better. They will take your abuse. Bigger box is better. Satisfied with my purchase.

massive audio is MASSIVE

OK i bought the massive hippo because of the reviews as well as the price for a sub wooffer with those specs. i bought a pyle non power bass tube and gutted it. trashed all the pyle components and upgraded the wiring and added the hippo sub. i used a massive nano amp to power it. the system kicks like a bull. ALL my friend and people swear i am using at least a twelve inch sub the bass is INSANE coming from this little 8 inch.

Stunning for an 8"

I stuck a single HIPPO in a stealth box - replacing the middle seat of a standard cab pick-up. Obviously, there's not a lot of box volume and I chose to fire it downward powered by 1000W.

The output is absolutely crazy, but I'm stunned by how low the sub pulls naturally with a flat eq settings.

Gets down

I made a 1 cubic foot box with a half-inch by 12-inch port. This thing sounds good I am thinking about putting one more in. But one 8 inch sub that is loud and sounds amazing I would buy more of these just on the price point alone.

Tight accurate bass

Like everybody has said these things produce amazing tight bass , they hit lows in a properly tuned box like I've never heard in my life. make sure you give these things a 800-1000 watts if you're running 2. Don't make the mistake I did though when screwing them into the box my screwdriver slipped and I punctured the surround. Luckily it was a small hole and gorilla tape on both sides fixed it no leaks. I gave it four stars also because the gasket around the rim has a crack it's not rubbery it feels like dried plastic. Regardless the sub seems to have sealed against MDF. Check out concept enclosures box for this sub on eBay you can copy the specs or buy one from them as it's a lot of work . 4" ports @ 13in long I believ

Insane little sub

Running a single Hippo in a center console box I built, on a JL 500/1v2. Don’t let the non-name brand fool you, this thing is an incredible speaker.

Massive Audio HIPPO84

These woofers are good punch for their size. They need good power. Don’t under power them in a big enclosure.

Surprising bass from this little beast.

I was looking for a small sub to tuck away in the trunk of my cruiser. I had been wanting to try Massive Audio and decided this Hippo 84 may be the one. I was not wrong. I have this sub mounted in a tiny .5 cu ft sealed box and it pounds. This thing seriously sounds like a 12" sub from 10 years ago. Keep in mind that it's only an 8" sub in a tiny box. I'm running it off of a 500W Kenwood amp and used it to replace a 10" JL Audio W1 in a 1.5 cu ft box. This Hippo 84 takes up way less space and actually sounds deeper than that JL Audio 10. Keep in mind the JL was just a W1, but the space savings was awesome with zero hit to the frequency response or volume. This little 8 gets that bass that rattles your mirrors, and beats your chest. Seriously a great subwoofer.

massive hippo's

I have 4 - 8" hippo's in a single cab dodge ram 1500. Let me tell u these are very impressive. The box I have them in is 1.1 cubic foot per 8 with a divider between each sub pushing them with a crossfire vr 2,000. The box has arrow ports on each sub. A local stereo shop cant believe I have 8's in my truck. They are very impressive subs. I am planning on buying 4 more for my Jeep JK. Hope this helps.

Great product looks good and seems to be well built

I’m running four of these in a crew cab chevy still having issues with getting the rite tune but pushing a hifonix 4K to them and they take every bit of it.

Ridiculous

One of the best sounding 8s on the market. Have this in a .8cuft ported box tuned to 38hz and it sounds amazing. If your space is limited this sub is a great option.
