turns out I got the wrong ones
ordered these thinking it was the correct one...nope. apparently i have a European styled plug...I guess that go's with if you have the European turn signal, tap the turn signal and it blinks 3 times. otherwise the connector looks well built. my my review rating is purely based on the appearance of build quality.
