Modification required

Great product for ford owners who want to use a double din. I installed the App radio 3 and had to modify the trim piece that came with kit to allow radio to open. The instructions were also vague and they didn't tell you how to detach the radio after it snaps into place. I am satisfied with this product overall but I'm also resourceful. Someone who isn't willing to stray from the instructions might have trouble installing this kit.

1999 f150 dash kit

I had to do some minor modifications to my dash to make this dash kit fit, but it was a piece of cake just have to trim some of the plastic, the f150 was not made for a double in head unit, but this dash kit made it work great!!

Good product for the job

It was easy for me to install. And the product fill up the space between the radio and the product was about 1/16 or 3/32 of an inch. A very good fit.

Installation Pack

It was recommended that I buy this installation pack to fit my truck. While installing the stereo I had purchased, I realized I did not need this. But the cost of returning it made it not worth the effort. The kit did not help in the installation in my 2003 Ford F-250.

This product works good but for some reason doesn't wanna stay back all the way, wants to lean forward in the upper right corner. Besides that great product.

I highly recommend this product, if you have a 1997-2004 Ford F series pickup this thing works perfectly. This thing finishes off the new stereo perfectly, looks factory, even better! Pros - it works exactly like it is supposed to. Cons - None. Buy one!

This is a MUST for an easy install of a Double DIN stereo. Fit perfectly in the 1998 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer.

Didn't work for me

The 2004 f250 superduty is not a true double din its kinda a 1 and 3/4 din so if you want to mount a double din you will require some light modification. This product will not really help you much which is why I rated it so low but it may help for other applications

Decent kit but requires more mods than instructions say

Used this kit to install a double-din unit in an '01 Expedition. As the instructions and the product description noted, significant cutting/modification is required to the sub-dash. What I found was that, in addition to the indicated cuts, I also had to cut out a 3/16 section from the top of the radio hole and had to make notches in the dash cover panel for it to clear the trim ring. Not the fault of the kit - but know that you'll have more work than just what the instructions indicate. Additional work took maybe 10-15 minutes; not a big deal, just know that you'll have to do it.

Perfect Fit

When I originally ordered my radio it was to come with a mounting frame. Yep it did but not one I could use in my truck. So I ordered this one. Wow what a difference. Removed 2 screws on truck and got some screws (6) from electronics place for mounts to attach to radio (they don't come with kit) and it fit perfect. Radio slid in and snapped into place, frame provided covered all the openings behind the panel what a match.

Clean Install

I will say that installing this kit required substantially more cutting of the dashboard on a 2001 F150 pickup than I had anticipated. The instructions are vague and I don't think that the installation diagram was drawn correctly. Despite all this the final fit and finish rivals a factory install. Despite the added labor, because the head unit is mounted very securely I feel this install methodology is superior to using the standard aftermarket birdcage.
