Steer clear

I bought these, and at first, I was fairly satisfied with what I got. There were a couple of minor issues that I was willing to deal with, but the units seemed to work, keep the little guys happy in the back seats (chrome paint flaking off of stem, low-quality design). Things were good for a couple weeks, then I noticed certain DVDs wouldn't play. Fast forward a month or so, NO DVDs would play/read... at all. Needless to say, I sent the product back.

If you do choose to buy this, be sure to return the item at the FIRST sign of trouble (e.g. not playing certain DVDs) - don't wait. Other notes: On the poor design, the monitor units are somewhat loose in the pillows and will periodically try to pull away from the headrest (more of a minor nuisance), audio is 95% worthless - we had to use the FM modulator (only the DVD unit had audio, and you literally had to turn it all the way up to hear it).

Bottom line, it's a good deal if you get lucky with units that last - I wasn't lucky in that regard. Just be prepared to spend the money to send it back.

Disappointing quality & reliability

Out of the box, this product appeared to be of decent quality, but after having the monitors installed for a couple of months, I've found that not to be the case.

They are an inferior and substandard design. The monitors easily come loose from the headrest pillows. The audio is terrible - you have to turn it all the way up to hear anything, and there is no audio input for the 2nd monitor. It is very slow to navigate through DVD menus (delay between screens), and the unit does not consistently play DVDs.

While these were headaches, we could deal with it, as our kids really liked having movies in the car. However, now the DVD unit will not play anything at all. I continually get a read error when trying to play a DVD, and the disc motor behaves erratically (will spin even with the unit open).

Sad to say, this was a very disappointing purchase - please do not buy.
