i have had these speakers set up in both coaxial and separate component. they sound much better when the tweeter is separate from the midbass woofer. I have the midbass in the factory spot in the door and the tweeters near the floor on the kick panel facing the front seats(driver side tweeter facing driver seat--headrest)
The imaging on these speakers are phenomenal for the price. The midbass is nice and tight and very responsive. The tweeters are soft and very musical. The sound produced from these speakers are clear, but not 100% crisp. I am still playing around with the crossover that comes with the speakers.
The crossover is easy to use and very versatile. There are 3 options for each speaker set. For a total of 6 switches: 1 for phase control, 1 for louder highs, and 1 for soundstaging. The blue led is also a nice touch.
Very easy to toy around with. The speaker terminals unclip from the crossover for easy manipulation of the controls under the rubber shroud.
Clean sound for under $100, and if you dont want to play around with cutting holes for tweeter locations elsewhere in your car, then there are mounting plates thats come with this set to fit into any car's stock speaker locations(6.5,6x8, and 6x9 plates)
So overall, I am very pleased with the xenon component set. Very controlled. Very clear. Very happy.
