I've owned this stereo for 6 months now.. it performs exactly as i expected or better in every aspect except one.. no video playback via usb thumbdrives .. haven't tried a passport drive yet or portable powered hard drive.. also the lack of standard time for the clock was an easy one to get over.. sound quality is great and it has so far played every file format ive thrown at it so far with the exception of some very high vbr files.... I bought the steering wheel control adapter and interface kit for adapting to my factory bose system for 02' trailblazer and was very easy to install and set up as well...

This is one hell of a receiver!!!

Just received and installed this headunit! It an awesome headunit...my first DVD headunit and its really easy to use. Best bang for the buck headunit!

Sweeeeeeeet

best head unit i've ever owned!! plays almost every format you can throw at it...only thing i cant get it to play is video on a thumb drive.. might work with a passport hard drive but have not had the ambition to check yet... sound quality is exceptional... i only have it interfaced with the stock Bose amplifiers and speakers currently and its great, but a true audiophile would never be truly satisfied with stock anything.. i also have the steering wheel interface kit which also works flawlessly with this unit.. though a little tricky to set up.. it doesn't get any better for the money... one other complaint though more of a nuisance.. clock is not switchable from military to standard time.. military time only

I only got to use it for a week, because it got stolen of my truck but i did like it.

Major value - minor flaws

I wont bore you with the stuff you know. Heres what I wish I knew.


VALUE - This head unit is the cheapest you'll find made by a major company. At prices as low as $300 new, it's undeniably cheap. (Pioneer 2din button heads are around 240!)


DESIGN - Soo sexy when it's off. Yeah most touch heads are (mmm smooth black) - but the buttons when not lit up are completely black and flush. The silver accents break up the monotony to complete the masterpiece.

My only design beef is the lack of REAR usb. The usb is kind of in the way of where your hand goes to touch the unit. Also its just ugly when one is plugged in. That swayed me to use a burnt DVD instead.


EASE OF USE - Couldnt be much easier to use. Ive almost mastered using it without looking after 1 week of use. Easy large screen-buttons... And the side panel if you dont feel like messing around.(those are PUSH buttons btw... Didnt know that)


FEATURES - Here's my biggest beef. The 3100 boasts superior customization to make it look like it came with your car. That swayed me to get this instead of Clarion's competing product. And though the buttons can light up to "112 different colors," the unit lacks TRUE white for the buttons. Youll either getting it look a little purple or a little green. Annoying.

The customizable background was also impossible to get to fit (do 480x315, it took me forever to get it right...), and the color gets distorted when "saved" as a bg. I ended up making a black and white one. That looked nice - just dont plan on a colorful picture, its ehhh.

And finally if you want to change your display THEME to like... red for example, it does it generally well. Sadly you'll still find like a blue strip on top displaying the title, etc. Little details make it look like they put themes in last minute. That would seem easy to fix....



CONCLUSION-
Otherwise, it does what it says it does... and quickly. If i didn't mention it then there wasn't anything wrong with it. The display doesn't seem to be worth a brick of gold - but altogether it gets the job done for much less than I thought I would pay. Thanks Pioneer.

Excellent Price - Excellent Stereo

This stereo is great for the price! I tried a 7 inch fold down double din what a nightmare, it just didn't fit right in my Escalade and stuck out almost an inch from the dash and looked ridiculous!!! This fits flush and almost looks stock, I really like the integrated look/feel of it - it adds to the interior big time without trying to be flashy.

The best feature is the audio settings - the eq feature is great and super adjustable for the price. It's not just a bass/treble set-up, rather a low, mid, high set-up - and within each one of those you can customize your sound a great deal by frequency & level depending on how you like your music. Very impressive!!!!

The backgrounds are nice, especially being able to upload one jpeg from a cd disc or flashdrive (saving more than one would have been much better but I'm not complaining).

The DVD player is nice and the 5" wide screen is plenty sufficient to support the video playback.

The touchscreen is very responsive and the unit is very user friendly once you read the manual.

Improvements/CONS: No remote control - this should be included and seems absurd that it has to be purchased separately. At least Sonic sells it for only a mere $15 bucks, so it's still not too bad.

Conclusion: After being in the car audio game for the last 13 years - this unit is an awesome deal for the price, has a lot of room for expansion beyond it's basic features. The sound customization truly stands out compared to many others. I highly recommend this stereo to anyone looking for a nice integrated look with great aftermarket features! I would buy it again if mine was stolen today!

I LOVE IT!

This HU rocks. It has everything I desire. Have barely used the manual, that's how easy this is. The touchscreen is very responsive, easy to navigate, has brilliant colors, & it has brought life into my factory speakers (which I'll eventually replace anyway). The front aux/usb is such a huge bonus. I can switch out easily. A friend has the more expensive 5100 (didn't put in extension wire) and can't use his. Using my ipod classic 120g is a snap. The display is just like the ipod control wheel. I didn't purchase the extra ipod wire, because I don't watch videos on my ipod. Your regular ipod cable works fine. Playing CDs. Awesome. 18 FM stations/6 AM. Hooked up a bazooka tube w/amp. Perfect amount of bass for me. Put in a 09 Dodge Journey with a little adjustments to install and now it looks like it came from the factory. Buy It!

This is the product for your iphone, ipod, or usb, and it plays them well. DVD and divx feature is very handy. i highly recommend this product

Easy install. Unit works perfectly. Had to install a momentary switch to defeat DVD safety.

Car Radio

I bought this for my 16 year son to go into his first car a Ford Expedition (2000). He has really enjoyed it. We put the radio into the car ourselves. The only thing that I would recommend is you provide the extraction tool with the radio. We went to the local Ford dealing and one of the Techs removed it for us at no cost. The installation trim templates did not fix correctly and we did not use them. Make sure you have the right type of cutting tools if you are going to install in a Ford you do have to do some cutting of the dash board. My son really enjoys the radio and wanted me to put the fix in so he could view DVD while riding down the road. Sorry Charlie no deal....Great product and would recommend it to anyone. The price was cheaper than B*** B** or other web sites. Hope this helps with anyone looking for this type of radio.

Great Headunit

The AVH3100 is a well constructed and excellent sounding bit of kit, adding bluetooth via the bt200 box is easy it just plugs into the rear of this unit, all the phones I've tried to date work perfectly.

The Internal amp is plenty loud enough to drive any standard car speakers (22x4w). The audio controls are excellent and comprehensive, as a base for building a solid sound system I'd say this is a relatively cheap but very good choice.

Downsides, I can't get a video to play via a usb memory stick which I'd have thought no major problem given it plays music or pictures from the same usb stick.

Great stereo! replaced the ford factory unit. Utilized the ford amps as well but the installation instructions were more than a bit criptic. Had to order an additional wiring harness as well...

Great Value

I purchased the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD about 6 months and I could not be any happier with the results. The sound clarity is truly amazing and playing movies in the car for my children (while parked of course) is a great way to keep the noise level down in the car (if you know what I mean). I would surely recommend this product for any person seeking to upgrade the sound system in their vehicle. The only thing that I can say bad about the system is that you can only set the clock to 24 hour time not 12, but that is not such a big deal.

loving it...

i am loving this unit, i had a flip up dvd player before and it is nothing compared to this unit....sucks no remote.....but oh well....i don't know what ppl are talking bout with the 24hr clock...mine is 12hr.....only thing...i can't get my ipod touch vid to work....don't know if it's because of the 3.0 software or because i bought a 3rd party cable....oh well....no biggie.....

Impressive Headset

Got this installed on my '06 Acura RSX and I'll have to say, it was a seamless install and it looks perfect in it. Probably one of the best investments I've ever made on my vehicle.

I just got this head unit and so far I love it. The only thing that I don't like is the amount of choices for background images and the fact that they are distorted and not crisp and clear except for one. But overall, I give it a 10 out of 10 for ease of use and it makes my factory speakers sound 10 times better. I looked at the same unit at Best Buy and it was exactly $100.00 more. I got the unit, dash kit, wiring harness, and ipod cable for less than I could have gotten just the unit itself in the store.

This head unit is the best one I have ever owned. The unit is very easy to use and has tons of features. Fine tuning was a breeze and I had my car sounding great in under 15 min. DVD picture quality is also very impressive, not skipping a beat no matter what the driving conditions were like.

Ok headunit, had some problems with mine.

Everything worked fine on my unit besides the iPod feature, it would randomly lock up and Id have to unplug and plug back in the ipod.

Other than that I didnt have any problems with this radio.

Pioneer is one of the best brands to buy for anything audio in a car. With that in mind and an extremely low price, you can't go wrong.

I purchased the Pioneer P3100DVD and in it a real nice unit. looks good and has many great features only real dislikes were no remote included and the 24 hour only clock. But i cant complain about Sonix they shipped it fast and included everything needed for the install

Just installed this unit in my 06 Buick Lucerne and it looks like it could have came factory equipped with my car. Excellent picture and sound and easy to setup and use.

Dude seriously this product is worth every penny. i have had this stereo installed for 3 days and i cant seem to stay away from my car now! i love this thing. the picture quality while watching movies is amazing! it reads cd's, flash drives, ipod connectors, etc. this really is a great product and i am more than satisfied. plus the price for it is unreal! go to an electronic store and you'll notice that something comparable to this will run you an average price of $500. you wont regret buying this. trust me
