Great Product!!

I was given this product as a gift and absolutely love it! I love using it for the handsfree phone and ipod control feature. I do find the gps to be very useful but it can take you on some strange paths than another standalone gps unit would. But it still does the job. The only thing that is really any hassle is that when your start the car it takes a minute or so for the unit to start up (much like a computer would). One of the best gifts i have ever recieved other than my car itself!

Good Upgrade from stock unit

I purchased this pioneer for my 07 Grand Cherokee Limited. Functionally, it is much better than the stock stereo. Even though pioneer claims that the boot-up time is less on this model, it still takes some time getting used to a stereo having to boot-up at all, much like your home computer. But, I did find if you turn off the ipod cataloging feature, after the initial set-up, it helps a little. Also, I thought I would, but I almost never use the voice command for the stereo. That's not the stereo's fault, it works okay, it's just my preference. Be prepared, It will take some time getting used to controlling the functions on this stereo. In my opinion, Pioneer could have made the interface a bit more intuitive. Cosmetically, I feel it looks more stock (that's what I wanted) than many other brands and models available. My Grand Cherokee had the older factory navigation, the one before the my-gig units. The pioneer is a lot smaller than the factory unit, but it does fit fine with the adapter unit. Overall, I like this stereo and would recommend it to anyone considering the purchase.

Nice unit

I have owned this unit since August / 2008 and have been very pleased with it. At first it had some glitches but pioneer fixed most of them with a firmware update. Very customizable.

Good headunit for less... but...

Finally this great unit for this money, but microcontroller is so slow and touch screen is not respond imidiatly, reboot function is very slow,
preamp chipset is very cheap and fool of noice. Power off function not present and required separate swich on yellow wire (main power). Navigation setup and operation is complicate for entry level users (like my wife). Handsfree calling exceptable and working excellent. Installation requred extra noice supressors and shield protection for low voltage sound circuits.

Fun Product

The best part about this product must be the ipod interface. It's extremely functional and fun to use. + video off an ipod looks great when used with the optional ipod cable.

Nav is a 7/10 because it's doesn't seem finished, + the missing track up feature is a bit annoying.
Sound 10/10 Starts up by the time I'm out of the driveway, not a big deal. Overall it's fun and I would recommend it. Make sure to check out the avic online forums for more info.

Couldn't be happier!!

The unit has worked flawlessly. It has a ton of great features, the best of which is that it's fully hackable. This allows you to add features, update the software, and tweek the system.

About the only complaint I can find is the boot up speed. The 2.0 firmware helps a little, but it still takes about 30 seconds for the music to start and about a minute for the unit to become fully functional.

Almost .. but not quite.

Pioneer is nearly there but not quite. Is an awesome idea, but product falls short on delivery. System will lock up very often and touch screen is useless. Usually resets first time power is removed or by rebooting system (there is no power button). Some features advertised just do not work, like the CD text. Pioneer brought out a software upgrade but it did not address the locking up problems.

Really enjoy the new Pioneer nav unit in my car. Easy to use and easy to set up. It was definitely the right choice and price.

Piece of Junk

Slow performer with highly inaccurate GPS results. A third of the time "You have arrived at your destination" means you are nowhere. Sound quality is great but I have had too much trouble with this unit to recommend it. Pioneer sold me a $90 update and software upgrade , allegedly to address these issues, which then crashed the unit and left me with a brick in my dash.

awsome unit

i have this unit and i must say pioneer has done it again with a top of the line navi head unit what i like most is the built in blue tooth rather then having to hide extra brains somewhere

Great headunit

Amazing head unit, glad I got it. Put it in my 01 Mustang GT Convert and it looks and sounds amazing. User interface is easy to use. iPod connection is great with iPhone 3G. Bluetooth works flawlessly with iPhone 3G. HD Radio receiver was easy to install and sounds great. Nav is spot on. No regrets.

Great NAV Unit

I have had this unit for almost 2 months now and all i can say is the unit is great overall. It has a few bugs but it isn't that big of a deal. ipod connectivity is occasionally lost but by reinserting the cable the problem is fixed. Boot up time is around 30 sec and response time for the touch screen can be delayed, but for the price you get a great head unit with a ton of features and a lot of options for later add-ons.
