ub-100 in a pioneer Avic-D3

I really wanted to give this 3 stars, but if does what it say it does. This item is a great add-on if you do not have a USB in your head unit. The main reason why i got this was because my nav unit is also flawed by not giving you full use of the NaV controls unless the NaV disk is in. This plays all my mp3s flawlessly, my only gripe, like the rest before me, is the id tagging only has 8 characters. Some of my songs have the artist name in the song title so it will say for example Green Day on all the songs in that album. Also my nav unit was not in the list of compatible head units so I don't have all the features like folder name, just song names. But all in all i am some what happy with it it play my mp3s with out taking up my cd drive so yah.

Not too shabby

Overall, this product accomplishes everything mentioned in the description, but there are a few flaws.

This system will support USB devices such as USB thumb drives or USB hard drives up to 250GB (should be plenty for music). It will not support USB hubs. Also the display will only show the first 8 characters of whatever it is you choose to display. The text WILL scroll, however, not automatically. You must go into the menu and mess around with the controls to get the title to scroll, and it will only scroll that once. Other than that, this unit is great at playing a bulk amount of mp3's, but the text display flaw really takes the fun out of it.

Also, depending on your system, you may notice the high end notes/frequencies of the songs are a bit higher, but is not something that particularly sticks out on my system without touching the tuning.

Great add-on for Pioneer head units

It's easy to install, on my head unit I get to see song name, artist, album, folder, time stamp
Easy to scroll through songs - but annoying when you press the list button you start at the top of your folder tree.
Allows me to carry and change podcasts and any music I like from my collection really easily in the car.
Instant access to your songs and as expected the same sound quality as other sources.
It's rugged and the connectors, especially the USB one which gets used a lot is still as tight as when it was new.
Excellent value - I had it shipped to the UK and it was still a lot cheaper than buying here even taking import duty into account.

Good solution, more music

I am using CD-UB100 for a long time and I am very satisfied with it. I am using flash drives and card reader with it, it works well.

The Pioneer CD-UB100 USB adapter port for Pioneer Car Stereos

Well, so far so good! I have an older model Pioneer head unit that didn't have a built-in USB port, so I purchased the CD-UB100 to add for functionality. It works great with most flash drives (so far, I have put in 8gb). A few gripes, one of them is that it won't work with actual hard drives. I originally wanted to put a 500gb mini hard drive - but then again, it may be my head unit that won't recognize it. And besides, I think it would be way too difficult to navigate through thousands of albums of music. The other nuisance is that every once in awhile, I get a song or two that skips around or fails to play. I replay the song and it plays fine the 2nd time around confirming that it wasn't the file that was corrupted (or the song was a flawed rip). Once again, it may be the head unit causing the issue as well. Overall, I am very satisfied with the unit.

Almost perfect

This product adds a lot of usability to the Pioneer line-up. I'm using it with a Pioneer DEH-P800PRS, and it's pretty good.

What sucks:
-the deck's menu for going through audio files is weak. You have to sequentially go through them all, and the titles aren't fully listed, just the first 8 or 10 characters, with no scrolling. At least, I haven't found that option yet.
-I glued a card reader into my glove box and then connected it to this unit, hoping that I'd be able to use SDHC cards. It didn't work. I tried a different card reader, and it did work. So, other than the fact that I've got a non-functioning card reader glued to my glove box, the unit works. Make sure the product you're connecting to it also works. So far, USB keys/thumb drives have all worked. The Pioneer menu system for MP3's sucks though.

Pioneer CD-UB100

Nice gadget that works perfect. Just plug in and play. One thing is, that it does not show file names. Thats too bad, because it works really fine.
