Great radio!

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I have always owned many high end pioneer and premier head units! This is one of the top rated radios I have every owned in the past 16 years!! The features are extensive! You can truely fine tune you systems to the the tee with this radio(and if you dont know how you can auto equalize this unit)...AMAZING! Not the best Premier I have owned but truley worth the money!!! A week into owning it and normally I would have mastered this but I am still twiddling with the fine tuning!! AWESOME radio! And if the entertainment options are not enough to awwwwe your friends you can download more

Still the best pioneer deck

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I have been through many different pioneer decks and by far this ranks above all. This has a great color screen and is an amazing looking unit. This was the best year for overall appearance for pioneer and its just gone downhill ever since. This makes everything sound so much louder than any other pioneer deck the I've tried. It has all of the basic flaws that any other pioneer unit has with it taking a little longer to get to certain options and how you have to scroll through everything for the ipod but for the price you cant get anything better. This is what you need to build your sound system around. Three models later and pioneer still hasn't been able to match the features that this has with such a ridiculously low price.

Great Radio

I have been looking for something like this for a while now. 2 rear usbs let me keep my ipod connected in the glove box and the other to charge my iphone when needed. using the XM is great and the bluetooth is pretty good. Haven't played with the HD radio much and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to store presets, but I haven't read the manual yet either. I originally bought the 84oobh and returned it to get the dual usb and the overall look is better IMHO comparing the two.

Nice Radio

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

Has all of the options that I was looking for with Sirus Capability. Also has a neat Graphics option that I didn't expect. Good Radio for a Good Price

worth every penny

this unit is really high end with classic m.c button , it have tons and tons of nice features like 2 usb's , aux , Bluetooth , cd , pandora
i have paired my galaxy s2 with this unit through Bluetooth then i set my phone in the car glove box , because you can see the phone charge status , service , missed calls on the head unit , you can even browse and call your contacts through the head unit , the Bluetooth in this unit is high end because the sound streaming is very clear , if you want a product that fit your car and give you everything then look no far for this unit .

Fantastic

This HU installed without a hitch. I played with the unit before reading in depth the User Manuel, and found it to be easy to figure out. The only thing is the setup Menu. if you miss it, you have to turn unit off for it to reappear. The Blue tooth connected to my HTC Thunderbolt without a Hitch. The Streaming music from Pandora, Tune Wiki, Slacker, Music Player all work great and you can control them from the HU. You can download apps from Google Play to your Phone (free). The Hand free Phone works like a charm, it displays your calls, call missed, list your phone book, makes and receives calls. This Radio just blows me away, not to mention the superior sound. The endless color displays, full function clock, M/D/Y, and other functions will keep you entertained. PIONEER, you have a WINNER!!

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

Great design I haven't had any major problems with it the only thing about this item I don't like is some times the blue-tooth signal goes weak which can't all be do to the stereo the phone plays a factor as well (I have a Motorola razor which is known to have its flaws), no pause button on the remote. Controls and functions can take a while to learn how to use. The good thing about this item is it has all the RCA cables you will every need to have the ultimate stereo system, the awesome equalizer gives you the power to control almost every pitch low, mid, high. It allows you to select your location in the car to adjust the sound quality to your preference. Stereo monitor the strength of the battery, so there is no need to every wonder if your battery is dying on you. Color screen and creative face detach.

Awesome Brand

I don't have this model but I have the previous version of it with the flip down face. I have had the unit for about seven years and the thing just keeps on kickin. Internal x overs make this an awesome companion to the Fosgate amps I bought here. I also have my 16GB iPod connected to it through what was in those days considered the plug for a CD changer. I used to work at a stereo shop in my younger years and all I can say is Pioneer head units are the best.

(First Week) Working Great / Best of the Best

I received this Radio last Friday and installed the same day by myself. Easy installation. This is exactly what I was looking for. I attached a 32GB USB Drive to it and its working great with it. Is incredible how can I organize all of my favorites music by folders. Also, love the Bluetooth work just fine. I'm using both USB ports, USB1 for my iPhone and USB2 for the USB DRIVE witch I installed inside my glovebox.

Like I said, it's only been a week since I installed, so let's see how it continues working. Will recommend this unit to anyone.

worth the bucks

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I received this unit in 5 days and am very impressed with it.I will admit it has way to much to learn at once but the sound quality alone makes it worth the price. In Vancouver,bc this unit sells for close to 700 bucks! I have had some issues with it mating to my sony k790 phone but I am sure I will get this figured out.I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants great sound and doesn't want to break the bank!

Very Nice!!!!

I bought this HU for two reasons , I needed audio streaming and bluetooth since I have a Droid phone and use the Amazon Cloud , The phone controls my music and the bluetooth is awesome.I have a 2008 Dodge Dakota and my sales rep sent me everything I needed..Me and my buddy installed it in less that two hours had it paired and bluetooth and audio streaming have never been better, the Pioneer also turns off the Cloud so that I would not incure data charges from the device if I left it on. Install was not that easy but if you are patient and you can tell your colors it's not bad when you solder the harness together.Face plate fit perfect..The audio portion was a bit different you have to tune in your station then hit list and it goes to the band list and you are ready to go at first I struggled but after you did it a couple times so easy..overall I got great service a good price and a quality product

The Best Head Unit In The Past 16 Years IMO

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I have used them all, searching again and again through the years for the best head to utilize for my customer builds. I purchased this head unit 6 years ago and it was sadly stolen from my vehicle a year into the purchase. Luckily, it was time for a replacement. Six months ago I went on the hunt for a new one of these units and luckily Sonic Electronix has one. I searched high and low for eight months trying to get the best price NIB and only a very select handful of shops had these still. I saw the opportunity and snatched one of the last few up from these guys. As lame as it sounds, I have never felt so saddened in my life knowing that a product line was killed. Pioneer truly designed an amazing unit which has brought me many many years of happiness in my rides. This unit alone has accounted for my entire love of car audio. Full color display, programmable for full audio control, blue-tooth remote control of the stereo... Amazing.
This was Epic. This was the best of the best. And sadly, it is no more. If you can find one used, check out the ribbon cable on the motorized front. If not cracked at all (Eventually they give out after a good six years) buy the unit. (The ribbon cable is easy to replace.)
Good luck fellow shoppers, just know this item was legendary and will forever be remembered as the one bada** unit that could do it all.

Pioneer Premier DEH-P980BT

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

This product was purchased as a gift for someone overseas, but after 6 months, I have not heard any complaints from the recipient. This product was referred to me by a pre existing customer and backed by the trusted Pioneer name.

Great Value, Lots of Features

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I just purchased this headunit for my 01 BMW 330i, and all I can say is WOW!!! Lots of great features, fast ipod connection w/ useful display. Brilliant display colors and background features. Bluetooth works flawlessly except w/ my service provider I cant import my phonebook and it doesnt auto-connect. The tunability is great, even w/ stock HK speakers I was able to create brilliant highs. A lot of reading to figure it all out but not bad for the results you get. Only complaints face doesnt angle, no RDS station naming, and the wireless service/bluetooth compatability. Overall best head unit I have ever had!!!

Excellent single DIN unit

This unit has some great features for being a single DIN unit. The only thing it's missing is video, but obviously you can't do that with a single DIN unit. I can say it's great bang for the buck!

All the primary features needed for daily driving.

This is perfect for me. I also have a Kenwood KDC-BT952HD that is a little over a year old to compare it too. Both Are Excellent Head Units. I have an iPhone 4S and a PandoraOne Subscription so when I got a mini-van for driving to rehearsals and gigs (I'm a musician) I wanted another Bluetooth, iPhone/Pandora radio to keep my eyes on the road, and hands on the wheel.

The Bluetooth Microphone is quite a bit better than the one on my kenwood (less noise on the receiving end) syncs perfectly with my iPhone 4S with the OS 6.

The dual rear USB's were the selling point for me. Allows me to have an easy accessible port for my iPhone, and I have the other in the glove box for my 120GB iPod Classic.

The Front Aux Port is a nice touch, my Kenwood doesn't have it and on many occasions it would have been nice for friends with generic MP3 players or Tablets droids etc..

Pioneer's Feature menu isn't as intuitive or as detailed as kenwood's I have a much more flexible audio setup with kenwood over the pioneer.

Installation in my 2005 Grand Caravan took about an hour, and was very easy. Sonic makes it easy providing the mounting and wiring harness kits with all the heads they sell. I solder and heat shrink all my electrical connections, wrap it in electrical tape like a factory harness and you don't have to worry about shorts or crimp connectors coming apart. I've installed 50+ radios from Cheap junk to $1200+ DVD/Navi+++ Units this is the only way to go.

ok deck, but not android friendly

I've always loved Pioneer in the past, but his deck was just alright. I didn't care for the complicated navigation through the menus. The real killer for it for me was it has basically nothing to do with an android phone. Yes you can stream music over bluetooth, but you pretty much have to control everything from the phone, and stare into a blank screen. In the end, I returned it and got a JVC R80BT which has most of the same features, except the HD radio, which I honestly didn't notice much of a difference with it anyway. But the JVC displays track information from android phones, and lets you control everything from the deck, plus they have an app to turn your phone into a remote for the stereo.

This deck would probably be great if you have an iphone, but if you have an android, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Pioneer needs to wise up and realize there are other phones beside iphone.

Good Deck, BT Issues?

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I love this unit, my only concern is that it has a lot of full-connect failures when trying to connect to my BlackBerry Storm. I am supposing that it's RIM's(Blackberrys) fault and not Pioneer, because the Operating System is extremely buggie, and every time I make a call from the deck, it works perfect, but if I make the call from the phone, it fails like 50% of the time.

BlueTooth Audio also drops a lot, probably related to the same thing.

coolest receiver

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

Ok, this is on seriously cool headunit. I love everything about it. It has customizing options to suit even the most demanding enthusiast. The sound is quite simply unbelievable. I replaced a Alpine 9830, and it sounded so dull and lifeless even before I got this unit. After installing the P980BT I saw just how dull the sound really was.

Pioneer has always made good products and the tuner section in all Pioneer units is second to none, but this unit really blows all the others out of the water.

5 volt preamp outs, all the sound eq you could imagine, nice graphics and a really classy look, all add up to be the best receiver I have ever owned.

If you are looking for a truly highend receiver look no further.

It is a bit tricky to navigate but give yourself a day or two and you will know it inside and out

great headunit

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

o bought this head unit from Sonic Electronix for my my almost perfect sq system i bought it installed now is more than perfect :)

pros: great sound, great screen blue tooth,5 volt pre-outs, bbe, 24 bit dacs, cool faceplate with faceplate removal, smooth motorized face and auto equalization

cons: to change the sub woofer level you have to go to menu then audio then find sub woofer level so is not that easy to use,the screen is some what limited to backgrounds and visuals, also the head unit is a lil bulky on the front

Great product...not enough room to list all the features

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I installed this headunit in my 2000 Z28 and hooked it up to a Kenwood Excelon amp to power my 10 inch sub. All I have to say is...well theres too much to type. So many features, so many EQ settings, the bluetooth works amazingly with my Motorola Razr. I can have my windows down or up and hear and speak clearly. Yes, its more than most Headunits, but with the features and clear display. Im very satisfied and can say it was money well spent. Thanks

Excellent HU

Owned this HU for 8 months, simply the best HU I've ever owned. Huge plethora of inputs, Bluetooth 3 sounds great and can flip tracks on Pandora on the Android with the remote or lever on the radio. There are more HD radio channels than I have presets and the line output is clean all the way up to 62.

With the dual USB inputs on the back I don't have a ugly USB drive sticking out the front, but one 500GB drive in the glove box and plug in a thumb drive in the console for easy access.

The display color is so tweakable it matches my dash exactly and looks factory. EQ and built in crossover makes this an excellent head unit and great value.

One Star off of Design... the volume knob bumps the lower trim when putting in a CD. But who listens to CDs anyway? Also doesn't support FLAC which would be the only thing to put this HU over the top for me.

Sick

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

This thing is sick, I got it in my 97 Jeep Grand with my old aftermarket speakers and it makes them sound so much better. The BBE and time Alignment is defently worth it, espeically when you have a set of components you can set the distants between each tweeter and your nose (is where we do it at our shop) to get the optimal listening experience. For the guy who said there is a limit on the display backgrounds, you are right BUT you can go to pioneerelectronics.com and download some more. The bluetooth is a big plus too, it is definitely price to add it to any deck. The one down fall for me on the bluetooth is that my phone Motorola W385 doesn't connect automatically. I am still learning more about it. but I would refer this thing to any one.

Amazing

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

Just bought this from Sonic, fast and great service. Hooked up to Infnity Kappas 697i and 60.7cs. And the system rocks, this unit has great features, Time Alignment alone is worth the price. Bluetooth capability has made life easier, it works very well with my Nextel Motorola i580, even with the direct connect feature. Only one minor issue, the blue glow of the Multi-Function Dial, does not dim with your car's rheostat dimmer. It's bright, Not that big of an issue with my car, cuz it sits low on the dash.

Pioneer

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P960MP).

This is the best cd player i have ever had!!! This cd player not only looks good but it makes your whole system sound way better. Plus it's got so many features. The backgrounds are also awsome. This cd player left all my friends with there mouths open!!! Now every one of them wants me to sell it to them. Its worth every last penny i spent on it. The only thing i fear is getting it stolen.

Sick With It!!

The following review is for a previous version (DEH-P980BT).

I upgraded to this unit from a 960MP and I'm VERY happy with it. THe 960MP was tight too but the controls on this one blow it away. Even with my stock speakers (going bye bye this weekend) it sounds bettter and the adjustments I can make are awesome. The disply is real sharp and looks much better then some of the other units out there. The BT works fine for me as well. It doesn't autosync with my phone but that could be because I have WinMo5 Standard.

Overall this is the best unit outhere for the price and nothing even comes close in terms of sound adjustment!!
