Nice deck at a nice price

I was in the market to replace my factory head unit, it only had the ability to play standard audio CD's. and a poor quality AUX input. I wanted something better sound, options and the ability to use a USB flash drive. This unit covered all those aspects, and for the price ($110 at the time) I felt for a major brand name it would be money well spent.

I've had it installed now for about a week, it's pretty easy to use just glancing through the manual once or twice. I'm using it right now with factory speakers, which are pretty terrible, but the sound quality is what I would expect. Being able to change the key and text color is a really nice feature, realistically you should be able to match any interior lighting around.

Now on to the bad, I've noticed I have to turn the volume up very high to get the music to play equally as loud as my stock unit. The max volume is 60, and I have to turn it up to 40 to get the sound level I want. I'm not talking blowing your ear drums sound either, just the normal loud volume most people use driving around. I'm assuming this is partially due to poor stock speakers, and also the lack of an aftermarket amplifier. Another major issue is the durability, if you look at the face plate wrong it will scratch. Just in an attempt to remove some dust, I used a good quality microfiber cloth and some distilled water. The result is a ton of small scratches all over the face plate. I did some research and tried some Meguiar's PlastX to clean it up, but unfortunately it changed nothing and possibly made it worse.

I will likely just refrain from cleaning the face plate at all, and may even look into buying a replacement face plate from Pioneer if they're not too expensive. I still very much like the deck just wish companies would stop using such delicate materials for consumer electronics.
