Easy to install, easy to use great value and design

Pioneer FHX820BS

Bought this as a replacement radio for my son's vehicle. He loves it and all he great features that allows him to use his i-pod and cell phone for his entertainment. Easy install and great price.

Decent Deck

Being the top tier DVD-less double din Pioneer puts out right now, it still falls within the same category as the others. IE.... it plays clean, functions well, but still lacks a bit on the EQ. It would be nice to see the addition of parametric with more center frequencies if they're going to stick with a 5 band EQ. That, or a wider range EQ would make this unit at least appear better than it's predecessors. Currently it's not enough to really change the sound to accommodate the vehicle. Would have been nice to add an EQ adjustment without having to go through the menu as well.

The crossovers are decent enough to protect drivers while getting the sound between front & sub in unison. The selections of frequencies are sparse, but the option of slopes is a plus. Had no problem there.

The screen easily washes out in sunlight adding to already cumbersome menu unless you choose some odd color.

Other than that, it has the usual Pioneer sound & performance... Still better than before with 6 preouts, but it leaves you wanting a bit more since you've spent more than the lesser units. The only way I bought this unit was because of Sonic's lower price plus the free gear for installation. Other than that I would have considered some other brand.

Great Car Audio

Everything works great. When comparing how the Bluetooth phone function works compared to a Kenwood head unit I bought a few months ago, this was half the price and works so much better. The factory settings worked perfectly.
It was installed in a Saturn S-Series and I was impressed on how much better it sounded with the stock speakers and then was blown away after installing some Infiniti XB's in the rear.

Great head unit for the money!

Installed Pioneer Head Unit in 2005 1500HD crew cab, Sounds great. Phone and Bluetooth pick up with no problems. Very happy with the purchase of the FH-X820BS. would recommend this unit. Don't have to spend a fortune to get good sound.

Great Buy

This Pioneer does it all. Wasn't much into the CD unit but sirius - thumb drive - Aux input - Bluetooth - works fantastic sounds better than my galaxy s5 phone. change the colors to match the car - hate some units are just blue the rest is orange - this matched perfect. really Happy with the unit. Sonic made it easy. Their wed site is easy to navigate compare stuff. I Recommend this if you want versatility easy setup this is the unit. Great Buy

Nice Head unit with good features..

I recommend this unit because it has lots of features like separate front .rear and sub pre-amp out puts unlike the 7200 model..Bluetooth has great range and the unit has very crisp clean sound which even made the factory speakers sound much better...Only thing i wish it would do is mute when the center dial is pushed like my JVC does in my truck...it has mute but just not on the big center dial...:(

That.s not a deal breaker by no means ,if your looking for a good unit you can't go wrong with this one ,lots of color choices for the face to match any vehicle

ABSOLUTELY GREAT

I love this unit. For one, it is not a touch screen. I despise touchscreens in cars. I like the older, button navigation. It works well with AM, FM, and XM. I wish it had the XM tuner built-in, but I suppose there is a reason for it. It would be nice if I could set a custom color for the display and keys on the same page, but that's not a real issue, as it can be done on separate pages. Also upgrading the firmware wipes settings on it.

One issue I have is in the center of the display, the brightness is lower than the rest of the display.

I think it would be nicer if the screen was an LCD with different themes instead of the matrix display it uses. I only say this because it can not display some characters IE @. That would also theoretically allow for a backup camera. I did not design it, so I don't know if that would even work. On paper, I think it would.
It would also be nice if it could change its brightness with the car's brightness settings. I suppose that would be hard to do because every vehicle is different. I do wish it could get darker, as at night it is a little too bright for my liking.
