Perfecrt BMW 325 upgrade

After installing a new Pioneer head unit in my 1995 325i convertible, I discovered my left front speakers were dead, so rather than pour a lot of money into OEM parts I got these, and they are great. They fit perfectly, the tweeter actually snaps into the OEM speaker grille. I just bypassed the factory amp, and ran wires to them. The biggest obstacle was overcoming all the quirky BMW hardware. All for $60, less than half of what a couple new BMW midranges cost. When the amp or rear speakers die completely, I plan on doing the same to replace the rear speakers.

Great build quality

I installed these in my co-worker's 2001 Pontiac GrandPrix. These speakers fit in the factory speaker hole very well. I was worried about how I was going to fit the tweeter into the sail panels the housed the factory tweeters. It turned out that the new tweeters fit in them almost perfectly. Just a hair difference in diameter (smaller). So I made a gasket from electrical tape and they fit perfectly. I taped them in to finish the install. Not too professional I know but I don't think they're going anywhere.

As for the sound quality. They sound nice but they are a bit on the faint side. I think an extra amplifier would help them out but without one they are kind of quiet. Don't get me wrong, when you crank the volume the take everything you can through at them but at low levels they are weak. I'm not hating on them though I think it's just a power issue.

My beef however with these, is the mount-ability of the tweeters. They have very few few options (i.e. screw holes in the mounting cups). Pioneer doesn't provide many tips on how to use the limited mounting cups. I found that to be very frustrating.

the bass on these subs is nice and deep. my friend has type rs and they just dont even come close to making the lows sound filthy.

Nice little set of speakers

I bought these to replace the factory front speakers in a 2002 Chevy Suburban. They are the same size, but the mounting system is an annoying proprietary snap system (I got around this by simply taking the old speakers off the plastic rings that snap in, drilled holes in the plastic snap rings, and mounted the new speakers to the rings, and snapped them back into the factory holes. I should note that you can not install these speakers normally on these vehicles, they are too small, at least a 6" is necessary to install using the traditional method.) The factory amp/head unit has a set of wires for both the tweeters and the woofers. Don't even worry about the tweeter wires, just use the wires that come in the box and connect them to the woofer wires.

In regards to sound quality: These speakers sound great, especially compared to the factory ones (not very hard to beat.) My only complaint is that at lower volumes, the lower midrange frequency response is very low. Once you turn up the volume a little they start to really shine. This may also be due to the factory head unit that I am using. It is not very good really, but these speakers do help it to sound noticeably better.

What I would do if I were to buy these again is just skip over the 5 1/4" and go straight for the 6 1/2". I only purchased the 5 1/4" speakers because that is the stock size, but after looking around some more, I have noticed that nearly everyone just gets the 6 1/2" speakers, and they do sound a noticeable bit better. (To get to the point: spend the extra 10 bucks on the 6 1/2" speakers. It's worth it.)

2002 Impreza Front Speaker Upgrade

There was a lot of mixed information on what size the stock front speakers are in the 2002 Subaru Impreza. Most sites say 6 1/2" speakers and some 5 1/4". Sonic suggests 5 1/4" and I went with these.

Once receiving the speakers and taking stock speakers out I see why there is confusion. The actual working speaker size for the stock speaker is about 5 1/4" but it has a large flange.

These speakers where undersized and 6 1/2" would have fit better but without amp this is sufficient and later I will move them to the back.

Sound - they sound amazing, good tight base sound and the tweeters are just awesome and really liven the sound. I feel like I am listing to music live. I can hear the drummer hitting the symbols like he is in my car. The speaker sound is good at low and high volumes without distortion.

Great speakers and would buy again for sure. One thing that impressed me was Pioneers website information and car fit information.

At first they sounded like crap but once broken in that sounded great.

Pioneer 5.25

I had a customer that needed new 5.25 components in a grand prix I've never been a huge pioneer fan. But when I received the speakers and. Physicaly seen them I was very happy with the product. Sound really good on a factory setup.

I like it... A LOT!!

My son installed this Pioneer deck in my vintage truck with Boston speakers. The sound quality is incredible. Would I buy it again? Yes, ten times over!

Perfect BMW replacement

Used these as a replacement for the front doors of my '02 bmw 530i. These are a perfect size and sound great, however you do need an amp to drive them, they are weak without the extra power as noted. Using a JVC avx-k640 head unit and it works but the sound is definitely expanded with the power of an amp. As a reference I used Kicker ks525's in the rear deck and they are definitely louder with all things being equal, but the component set-up allowed me to put the tweeters in the factory sail panel and they fit exactly right. Again let me re-iterate, they will sound better than stock, but they will sound great with an amp, they need the power!
