Excellent Bavsound alternative

After a lot of research, I was looking for a set of speakers with a wide frequency range and low RMS rating to directly replace my '01 BMW 740 speakers (with DSP). Since I would be reusing the factory DSP which already has built in crossover points, I didn't double up by using the Pioneer crossovers. Although Pioneer is not my go to brand of choice, they've been around since I was a kid so I know they're a reliable brand. This set of speakers performs very well and so close to the factory speakers, that I didn't need to modify my EQ settings. The sound is very balanced, smooth, and I now feel more confident to push my system over the original speakers. If you were originally considering the Bavsound replacement, go with the Pioneer instead and you won't be disappointed.

Real NIce

I would definitely recommend these speakers. Strong clear sound. Really nice that the tweeter has adjustable dB level.

New model year, similar performance

I was worried when I saw the older style Pioneer TS-D's were being phased out (the ones with the Aramid Basalt cone). I liked those a lot. I bought a set of these for a 1998 3-series and used stock mounting locations and ran them off the stock amplifier. I was impressed with the smoothness of the tweeter, which on the previous line could be a little harsh if not properly aimed and tamed. The midbass was fine, could've used more than factory power to really get a solid kick out of it.
Build quality look about the same.. I love the new yellow color to the cones (reminds me of Focal K2 Power series).
The one thing to note is the crossovers have been make smaller now. They don't appear to be of a lower quality, though. Similar to the Alpine Type-R crossovers probably. There's a 3 position tweeter level switch on it.
Very good set of components for under $100 overall.
