Excellent choice for my 06 Highlander
I went through a couple of configurations to get the right low end for my 06 Highlander. The first one was no sub - very bad. The second one was a small powered sub - bad. I discovered the Pioneer 12" shallow mount box and paired it with the Pioneer 12" shallow mount sub, which was not my first choice. However due to the physics of sound displacement this was effectively the ONLY choice. Guess what? This thing pounds!
Put on Ferry Corsten's "Ain't no Stoppin" for a real test. It will blow you away. Now, here's the trick that made this work so well for me - my tech installed it upside down in my trunk (in the little compartment under the floor board so it's completely out of sight - my whole system is stealth - no need to attract unnecessary attention - so basically the speaker is pointing up towards the roof. No rattle, no hum, just clean powerful bass. My Highlander may be a boring vehicle but my audio system is anything but. This combination sounds so incredible that I'm still blown away by it, and it's been over 6 months!

legs on this box are a bit short, prevents sub from full excursion,box is made well though.
